While the Republicans wanted to run against Hillary. They put all their fish in a barrel by portraying Hillary as a polarizing monster who was more oppurtunist than leader. But with all the hatred which actually sounded legit for Hillary they forgot about Obama. Now they have to find a bunch of things to hate about him. So instead of actually having at least a fact or two behind them they have gone to portraying Obama as a secret Muslim and an eiitist neither of which is logical or factual in the least bit. Of course they are also attacking him as a Christian because of the church he goes to which seems to run contridictory to the first idea of having him be a secret Muslim. None of these smears make the least bit of sense and none have anything to do with actual problems and issues. Netherless, people are actually going to vote for or against him based on them. I had hoped that the American public would learn a little from the spurious swiftboating and drunk driving in the last election cycles but these issues come up because the american public is gullible enough to care about them and listen to these people. Democracy only works if the people are concerned citizens and treat the candidates based upon the positions they hold not as another Paris Hilton. Oh well. Wil the American people ever have the maturity to rise above this silliness?

I don't know of anybody who is not voting for the Dali Bama because he is a "secret Muslim". They're voting against him based on his positions, decisions he makes during the campaign, the company he has kept, and the immature supporters who insist that the Dali Bama is constantly being smeared by right-wing, Fascist, racist, and close-minded Republicans. Most of US Moderate Democrats are paying close attention, And the Dali Bama is too far Left to vote for...

Public Financing of elections...Spin that one DemBoy...

I’ve been participating in the AOL Hot Seat poll for a few months now, and the results are usually not terribly surprising. Since most of us create questions that concern the election, mostly the results reflect the partisan split. Anything critical of one candidate will generally spur people to reflect their own positions, and in a 50/50 nation, we get 50/50 results, and usually the most interesting aspect is the state-by-state breakdowns.
Yesterday’s poll broke from that pattern in an interesting way. I asked people to answer whether Barack Obama’s broken promise to use public financing made him smart for seizing a fundraising advantage, or whether it made him look like a hypocrite with no principles. I expected a 50/50 result and wondered whether we would see anything interesting in the state breakdowns. Instead, 68% of the straw poll respondents have thus far chosen — hypocrite with no principles

Just to get your blog started....spin like a top boyeeeeeee...

Demboy08 - This public financing issue is so cheap and manufactured. Obama is just doing what any normal politician, including McCain, would do in his position. While our public and "liberal media" focuses mindlessly on the latest manufactured attack, serious issues (economy, the very real War, health care) wait to be addressed.

At some point we have to, and in 10 years no one will remember any of the nonsense. But we'll be helping to heal our Iraq Vets for generations.

Demboy,

I have a general rule. If the loons in Hollywood scream their love for a certain candidate - RUN LIKE HELL!

Instead of attacking the people that you say are attacking Obama, tell us why YOU think he will be a good president. Don't spit out the retread crap that the media and the Hollywood loons spin to us. Give us YOUR opinion. Sell me on it!

While I would like to believe people are voting on the issues the fact that one in ten people still believes Obama is a secret Muslim would beg to differ. Having Hollywood like a candidate should not be a reason to like or dislike him. Also I think it is silly to vote based on the company a person keeps. That is just as bad. Guilt by assoication is not fair and not right. I am not going to judge MCcain by Pastor Haggey as you should not judge Obama by Reverend Wright.

Demboy- I'm so glad to see that someone else thats apart of the young American voters actually has a brain. Thank you for writing this blog. Its amazing how silly some Americans can be. Even though they are attacking him for things that don't really matter I'm sure that he'll come out victorious. After all, as statueman keeps saying its these petty things that people keep bringing up that will actually get the man elected. I guess the problem is that for once the Republican Party cant use any valid and relevant facts to attack the man.

Demboy,

First of all, congratulations on your graduation! This is your month! So bask in the glory and enjoy it...and I hope you had a blast throughout high school. College is going to be fun for you!

Now I don't know what is being presented out in the Milwaukee area as far as the election goes, but out here on the West Coast, we're seeing things popping up which would make for a great debate between Obama and McCain. So we'll see what happens in the future. In the meantime, enjoy all the political cartoons that pop up, and please don't get bent out of shape, if it seems a bit goofy at times. We all need to laugh a little, while the issues pop up and get debated over. The politicians just have to roll with the punches...and yes, you'll see a few political jabs from me on the site from time to time before the election comes up. Yes, I'll stir the pot up, get some laughs and tick some people off, but that's politics for you. I know I'm wacky at times, and the politicians are going to get a "Caining" from me once in a while over the "Johnny Mac" debates.

Nicole it is good to see another young blogger on this site. I used to blog alot more but many of the conservatives on this site are just venemous. (no people skills) Mystere I plan on attending the school of letters and science as a Poli-Sci and Econ major. I do not mind those cartoons and some of the jokes. I see those kind of things on the daily show every night. But in this nation we tend to substitute political dicourse for that because most people simply don't know alot about candidates stances on issues except a few the Media shows which are "hot-button" even if not the most important.

Voted in favor of sanctuary policies for illegal aliens in 2008
Sen. Obama voted in favor of tabling an amendment (SA 4309) sponsored by Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) to (S. Con. Res. 70), a concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2009. The Vitter Amendment, if adopted, would have created a reserve fund to ensure that Federal assistance does not go to sanctuary cities that ignore the immigration laws of the United States and create safe havens for illegal aliens and potential terrorists. Sanctuary policies bar public officials, including police officers, from asking an individual's immigration status and from reporting illegal aliens to federal authorities. In 1996, Congress passed a law that specifically prohibits state and local governments from enacting sanctuary policies. Despite that, cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston, still have sanctuary policies in place. Maine is the only state with a sanctuary policy. The Vitter Amendment would have been a huge incentive for states and municipalities to rescind their sanctuary policies. The vote to table the Vitter Amendment passed 58 to 40, effectively killing the amendment.

Hey Demboy,

Just a little heads up...I told Nicole about you, in that you are one of the younger bloggers. She has some interesting blogs.

Oh Demboy....

You didn't answer my question. Give me your opinion on why Obama is the better candidate than McCain. Don't tell me I'm judging Obama based on who he hangs out with. I don't care about that. We all have crazy friends.
Hollywood people are nutcases...that is well known.
But you are just doing the smoke and mirrors like the media is doing. Instead of telling us why Obama should be president, you attack the people that are against him.
So once again...tell me why he will make a better president.

Nicole,

If we aren't giving facts about why Obama shouldn't be president(which I haven't said actually), you are doing the same. You are not giving facts on why HE SHOULD.

So have at it. Practice what you preach.

I am a Freshman at UW Madison. I believe in real solutions to real problems. I didn't see the Republicans offering any of them so I a gave the Democrats a chance to do something. I believe both parties are too polarized now to get things done so I think moderates are needed. I am a moderate liberal. I spent months deciding who to support in the presidential election but I finally have decided to vote for Senator Barrack Obama. I love studying world problems, playing tennis, playing video games and now blogging.
