If there was any doubt that Broncos wide receiver wants to play for the Denver Broncos next season, there’s certainly a lot less now.

In an impromptu locker room session with the media Monday morning, fresh off the Broncos last team win against the Minnesota Vikings the night before (but one in which Walker had just two catches for 16 yards), Walker could not resist verbally releasing the frustration he’s understandably developed during an injury riddled season.

Fox 31’s Josina Anderson asked Walker the first set of questions during this group session with Walker. The most important question regarded Walker’s immediate future with the Broncos.

“ I just don’t see it happening with Javon here.”

“Happy to be here, but I just don’t see it happening here for me,” Walker replied.

Without hesitation Anderson was very clear in asking Walker if he’s happy in Denver as a Bronco now.

“No, I’m about to see what happens."

“Ya’ll will see me somewhere along down the road in another situation,” Walker later added.

Thereafter Walker was asked if he was alluding to leaving Denver because Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall is emerging as the number one guy.

“No it’s just the offense,” Walker replied.

Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall finished the season with 102 catches for 1, 325 yards, but Walker didn’t specifically acknowledge that Marshall’s team leading receiving stats were a problem for him at the time.

“If this isn’t the best situation for me, it’s the best situation for Brandon Marshall.”

“He put up numbers to where some receivers can only dream of. He had a great year,” added Walker. “

"This was never the offense that I agreed to come here (for).”

Towards the end of the season, Anderson had several off-camera conversations with Walker. In those instances, Anderson learned that Walker has some regret about becoming a Bronco via a trade. Walker let it be known coming to Denver was not his preference because he perceives their offense as a run first scheme.

According to Walker, that point was reiterated to him by fellow veteran wide receiver Rod Smith.

“Rod told me that this is not an offense for receivers trying to catch 55 yard passes and turning up big gains,” Walker told Anderson a few weeks back.

But according to a source with first hand knowledge inside Walker’s camp who wishes not to be named, Walker's claims now that he wanted to go to New England, and that ending up in Denver was out of his control is not true.

The camp source told Anderson that Walker did want to come to Denver, and that money was a big determining factor.

“First of all he should save the theatrics. His [Walker’s] first trip was to the New Orleans Saints. Next it was somewhere, I can’t remember right now. After that, Denver. He did not want to go New England. He blew off New England twice, trust me. Philly couldn’t come up with the trade. They were 4 million off. Denver said 8 million, and now he’s in Denver. What you see now is his regret. Look at how the Patriots are doing,” the camp source to Anderson recently.

Regardless, besides feeling like coming to Denver was out of his control to a certain extent, what’s added to Walker’s frustrations this season is two fold. First, it’s how the team dealt with his knee injury this season, and secondly it’s how much the team has made Walker practice on it.

Walker told Anderson recently that he first got hurt in Dallas when the team was in town to face the Cowboys during the preseason. According to Walker, and a source in his camp, a cyst developed on Walker’s knee. Walker told Anderson that he attempted to alert the team to his growing concerns about it, but in his opinion, his concerns were not met with serious and immediate attention.

Thereafter, Walker continued to play on his knee.

In the first two games against Buffalo and Oakland, Walker received for more than 100 yards both times. In the third game of the season against Jacksonville, Walker had just two catches for ten yards.

Walker later had a surgical cleaning performed to that same injured knee, and subsequently missed the next eight games. During the remainder of the season, the camp source echoed Walker’s discontent over how long it took (in both otheir opinions) the Broncos to address Walker’s knee situation.

Later in her blog (at that time), Anderson reported Walker’s discontent over the amount of time he was being asked to practice on his injured knee. Walker told Anderson his major issue at the time with the Broncos was that Shanahan was asking him to practice Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday on his knee. The end result, in Walker’s opinion, was that his knee was worn down by game time on Sunday. Walker told Anderson he pitched the alternative to Shanahan of not practicing Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and just doing a walk-thru on Friday.

Walker’s camp source told Anderson that Walker’s suggestion is not uncommon.

“I think Joey Galloway goes two times a week. He [Galloway] has Wednesday off. So does Chad [Johnson], and T.J. Houshmandzadeh,” opined the camp source.

Yet Walker told Anderson that Shanahan was not receptive to his suggestion. Walker said he understood the need to develop the team with every player present, and the idea of maintaining his conditioning, but Walker told Anderson that practicing that much was working against his rehab in his opinion. (Check out Denver Sports Insider’s blog [archive posts] for more details on this)

This is why Walker’s catharsis today before the media was not unforeseen; and Walker looked like he knew all the while some of his comments of disenchantment with the Broncos were going to be newsworthy.

Walker has already wondered out loud to Anderson if he should have stayed in Green Bay with the Packers.

“Green Bay made me who I was for a team like this to bring me here…so maybe it takes a team like that to go back,” repeated Walker to the group of media members in his session today.

Walker has also wondered out loud to Anderson what might have been with the Patriots if he wasn’t worried about how New England, in his opinion, didn’t oblige the financial desires of his friend-former Patriot wide receiver Deion Branch at the time (and considering that point in his decision to blow them off twice--accodring to Walker's camp source).

Today now, seemingly anticipating a conversation with head coach Mike Shanahan later, Walker was also asked about his relationship with Mike Shanahan. To that end, Walker seemed less definitive while simultaneously being more careful not to over speak.

“Regardless of whether I’m included here or somewhere else you know, I’ll be included somewhere. I know what I can do so it just depends on the relationship of how the offense goes.”

But it certainly seems as though Walker already has his mind made up after everything that has happened to him during his tenure in Denver.

“I gotta go where [it] best fits for me.”

“Wherever Javon’s talents can be used at, I gotta go where best [it] fits for me.”

For starters, just because someone else can do something doesn't justify you doing it also. This guy is also awfully cocky. He speaks about himself in the 3rd person. Hmm... not the kind of guy i would want on my team. He's just frustrated with his own decision. From what i've read, he came to Denver for money. he probably assumed that they would have a decent year. But since it sucked, and New England went undefeated, AND Green Bay is second in the NFC, Javon is crying because he made a bad decision. I hope that he leaves and Denver wins the AFC West next year after we pick up McNabb. Way to man up to your decisions Javon.

Hmmm. If's hard for me to see a lot of what Javon is saying. I mean , I don't know every thing, that's why I depend on you "Insider". But, here's my drift. It seems he is blaming the Broncos for his bad luck ? why? Remember ,it was the Broncos that took the chance and gave him ,obviously, what green bay and....Brat Farve thought he did not deserve, at the time. Brad told him to pipe down or basically leave. He did. He also was the one who blew New England off and there were no guarantees that he would have started( especially when Moss arrived) or would be injury free. So come on, if the boss said you gota be at work ,you don't say well , so and whoever, doesn't have to be at his job on Wednesday. I am a little disappointed in Javon, form a fan perspective. You can t have it both ways. Maybe, the guy just don't want to be here anymore because of other things. Never the less, The broncos paid him the money he accepted in his contract, he should have practice! We talking about practice!(HEE HEE, just had to get that in ). Anyway, if he wants to leave, the Broncos should use that money to get a defensive end. Lord knows we need one!!

You know what I see in Javon. In my opinion, Javon is a very complicated person. On the outside he projects confidence about what he portrays, projects, and possesses externally. But something about his internal ora signals to me there's alot more emotional layers with Javon than what meets the eye. Javon seems like he has a hard time letting people see the roots of why that is as well. I talk to people who know him better than I do, that say he has deeper insecurities than what you would think someone like Javon would have. I mean granted we all do, but I feel like I get the sense when I am around him that his smile is masking something that he hasn't completely addressed or healed. What that is, I don't know. But those or my instincts about him...and I wd bet on that feeling.
But I have to tell you I'm also not mad at Javon for his comments. There has to be a measure of gusto in all of us that calls it like it is. People nowadays will take what is yours, or should be yours, be less deserving, and go home and sleep like a baby. The trick is to know that, still smile, make your move, and then announce it with humilty and like a professional.
It's okay to want better for yourself, and to believe you will flourish in another situation. I don't fault Javon for feeling that way. Even after he signed a contract. People can make mistakes. But what I do think Javon should look at is what is he doing, or how is he doing things to make a number of people think that he is a self-entitled, selfish, egotist. I personally think for him it's much deeper than that. H

He can be sweet and charming when he wants. There are people who are just born insufferable brats. Javon's not that. If he'd let me get a oprah crack at him...i think i could crack the case. hahahahaha.

I get your point. Athletes are indeed special creatures. I like to see what makes them tick as well. Although not a talented as he, being a recreational athlete (he he) , I can understand his attitude.....well sort of. However, I think being humble really paves the way for good things to eventually happen. "IT IS WHAT IT IS"! But most talented guys( like Javon) simply don't get that. That's unfortunate. But ,hell ,what do I know, I am just a fan . I am sure there is more to the story ,as you pointed out. My experiences working for corporations where individual made huge amount a money (more than most make in a life time) based on ridiculous and reckless confidence making horrible mistakes losing the company millions ,but blamed others, reminds me of the Javon situation. Get this, these people also still felt they deserve their ludicrous and insane pay! The bottom line, Javon really did not performed! Lookit, if you are hurt, you are hurt. But in a sport were supreme performance trumps all (even criminal activity), Javon needs to seriously take a look in the mirror and ask himself : "In the last 3 years, what I have I really done"?

He probably knows its going downhill from now. So he's going to makehs move now. Good idea, but he could give the Broncos another year of chance.

@ dre runner---true that. so the question then becomes should your pay be dropped on what u did deliver (due to injury), or should it be kept at what you agreed upon because that is what u agreed upon (and that amount is based on what ur capable of)?????

@ slimjim 80 --i think that' s something to chew on to because when i talked to Javon I gave him the example of Fred Smoot. When I was covering the Redskins, Fred came up on free agency and thought he shd look for big money like Champ got the year before coming to Denver. The Vikings ended up paying Smooty more than what the Skins offered. He left dc though, his star diminished, got involved in the love boat scandal, and eventually came back to dc. The result: the Skins are back in the postseason with Smoot this season, the Vikings are not. Sometimes you think the grass is greener on the other side..when sometimes it may not be. Sometimes the answer is to just be still.

Jo - I might be thinking completely off base here, but I seem to recall that after DW was killed there was speculation that Walker would return to Denver because of the stress of that. Do you think that there is the slightest possibility that that incident might still be playing a role in his decision to leave Denver now that his contract is up?

Like I said, I could be WAY off base, but you did say that Walker had alot of emotional layers ;)

@ caasmom--You are completely on base. I definitely think that is part of it. A source inside Javon's camp told me that his parents were definitely saying--at the time of DWills passing--they didn't think Denver was the spot for their son anymore, and that his paents were trying to insist for him to get out of Denver at the time.

btw, i appreciate you commenting on my blog. stay in touch.

@ spcasm...thanks for commenting on my blog. so are you saying javon just needs a trip to jamaica to blow off some steam and then he will be good to go here in denver? cause in my opinion jwalk would rather leave. there are a couple things that may perk his ears seeing as tho he wants to keep his house in denver. if shanahan assures javon that he is the no. 1 receiver, and that they'll throw more to him that may help-a bit. from talkin to jwalk myself, i have gathered that his stats are important to him. really! really!
shanahan will also have to show he understands j's frustrations with how his knee was handled, and give javon a pass on prax when he j says he needs one sometimes.

I think it's best for him and us that he leaves. I just really hope whe can pick up a playmaker linebacker or end for him.

@drerun...where u been? Actually I have been busy too. I haven't got the chance to work the phones...been busy with my other duties. hopefully i'll be back on it tomm. i think actually tho the best thing for both parties is for javon to stay. javon is getting in a pattern of running when the goin get rough. i think it would be a big part of his growth to weather the storm and stick it out in denver. and guess who would be the beneficiary...the broncos. i think good karma wd emanate from a demonstration of humility on both sides. like i said sometimes the highest just wants one to be still. only javon can know what the will is for him in the end tho.
