Well if you think rumors about trading Carmelo Anthony were heating up following another Nuggets early first round exit, they’re really heating up now.

Supposedly…

The Bergen Record, citing NBA sources, is reporting that the New Jersey Nets could package a pick from Tuesday’s NBA lottery in a deal that would “net” them-no pun intended-the Nuggets franchise star along with Nuggets center Marcus Camby.

The New Jersey report says a high quality Nets selection could help trigger an inclusive scenario where Denver would receive Richard Jefferson, Keith Van Horn, and Marcus Williams’s contracts in exchange.

That’s what the Bergen Record says.

Here’s what Anthony’s agent, Calvin Andrews said to Fox 31 sports Monday night.

When asked if there is anything to the Anthony trade rumors as described above Andrews replied,

“Yes I have been reading about it…and I would say it’s BS right now.”

Several NBA insiders told Fox 31 sports the genesis of this report is linked to current Nets general manager and former Nuggets general manager, Kiki Vandeweghe and wishful thinking.  Recently though discussions concerning this deal have picked up a little more steam.

“It’s out there heavy. There [isn’t] any question,” said Andrews.

But when it comes to any serious talk of an Anthony trade crossing Andrews’s ears, the Nuggets have yet to contact him; and right now he’s not expecting it.

“They [the Nuggets] didn’t tell me they were trying to trade Melo; and I think they would have that conversation with us.”

“All I can tell you right now is that we have not been informed of any trade.  I think with a player of Melo’s stature we would have some conversation about it,” replied Andrews.

When asked if he would absolutely expect a direct call from Mark Warkentien-the Nuggets vice president of basketball operations-concerning a trade for Anthony, Andrews said, “definitely.”

The Nets will be in the lottery for the first time since 2001.  They have a 1.1 percent chance of acquiring the No.1 pick.

Andrews wouldn’t put his own percentage on the odds of this deal happening, but he did put the reported talks into perspective-at least for tonight.

“Anything can happen in this league, but we have not been informed or talked to anyone about it.”

Just do it! New chapter. Anthony needs a new scene. He needs to get back to B-more. Hang out a little closer to the hood, where there are more clubs and drama. Not everyone likes being surrounded by mountains and clean air ,especially when you aren't a hiker or a mountain biker....

Oh Dre-run, so quick to boot Melo out the door. Lotta insiders though think the change in scenary would be good for him. Will keep my eyes on it as I swing back into my blog. Plus I was just informed a thousand plus of you have already hit this article up, so at the very least people care what's up with Melo and all his adventures.

My teenager has always defended Melo, and I am not one for throwing a young person under the bus at the drop of a hat, but we both agree that we don't feel as strongly as we used to that Melo's heart is in this the way it should be, here. He's certainly having growing pains!

That being said, I have even bigger doubts about Coach Karl. Could it be that the wrong person is talking about leaving? What's the take on that?

Hey Raysmom,

I for one will always have a hat to hang for Karl because we are in the same Tarheel family. That being said, I think he sounds tired, looks tired, and really should ask himself how honest he is being about the true passion he has to coach these guys. That's the impression I got last I talked to him on his cellphone, and about a week later [about a month ago] Stephen A. Smith made the same observation on ESPN.

As much as I think Karl has a wonderful heart, objectively I don't think he's the right man to coach this Nuggets squad as it is currently comprised.

I really think the organization should give a harder look at Avery Johnson.

As far as Melo, the Denver Post is now reporting what Calvin already alluded to in this article.

Unfortunately, I really feel Melo could strongly benefit from a change of scenary. Not saying I don't believe in his talent any more, cause I'm definitely not. But, I don't feel a breath of fresh air outside of Denver would hurt him either.

My confidence that this team can superceed the elite teams in the West, and that they can escape the mental ghosts of exiting early in the playoffs time after time is dwindling rapidly. Just like the say, winning begets winning, and likewise with losing.

In the past, the second the Nuggets' playoff fate presented badly, it became a self-fulfilling prophecy for Melo because losing under post-season pressure is engrained in his head.

Melo needs to be on a team where he can defer and look up to another leader. That person is not Allen Iverson, but I have an idea who

it should be if he is indeed to stay around the Rocky Mountains...Stay tuned.

I will certainly stand on your side about George Karl. My take on Melo...good luck in New Jersey. I love watching him play; he is an amazing athlete. His best chance winning a championship is to leave Denver....(the first flight out!) I do agree that Melo's heart isn't in it here. But, then again why should it be. The way the fans and media badmouth him, why should he stick around.

Allen Iverson had a whole bag of issues before he came to Denver too. I believe that a persons fans can influence a persons actions also.

Going back to Karl, I will admit I dislike him as the Denver Nuggets Coach or any other coach for that matter. Unfortunately, I will admit that the problem with the Nuggets goes far above Karl's head. They have paid way too much money for players that sit on the bench.

Insider- astute comment about Melo needing a leader. That really is true. And I was surprised that the Nuggets org. was sticking w/Karl- he just seems to have a really negative attitude. Too much on his plate? Maybe.

But, since it looks like they will both be staying, unless something unexpected happens, I think the fans here will support them- you really hear mostly the extremist opinions in the blogs and other media outlets. This is a small/big town, and misbehavior gets more focus here than say, Detroit, I think, but most folks here would not like to lose our premier star player- they just want him to grow up a little and earn their respect. I hope for the best for him and the Nugs. And that's how most of the people I know feel, too.

Get rid of the pot smoking, anti-snitch, corn row racist.

I loath this guy and have no reason to treat him special. I'm not trying to get a story.
Fact is, he's been pretty insignificant and not capable of bringing this so called team to a higher level, even after trades that were meant to get this team going.

Basketball is the dumbest thing ever.

Hello everyone,

I have really done my best not to look at this blog while I am still on vacation-only for rest purposes clearly. However, I don't like to leave comments hanging in this space either...and my phone showed me i missed some of ya'lls comments.

Anywho, I can tell you guys I talked to Allen Iverson's people before I left. Supposedly he is taking a little break away from stuff and his people will get back to the negotiating table soon. I was told the early playoff exit was so painful that Allen can't even watch the NBA on tv right now-especially as the Lakers advance (no time to write what I knew before sorry.) Right now, the word is his agent is busy going after O.J. Mayo. If his agent gets him, he will keep him very busy with A.I. here shortly.

Now I still stand by my comment that, Melo could benefit from new air in a new town, but corn row racist? Please explain? Loathing someone is pretty strong-why? Just curious specter?

Raysmom; Thanks for saying my comment on Melo was astute. smile. Your right, the Nuggets still need their fans to stand by them however they are comprised...and a little maturation wouldn't hurt either.

Worboy: The talent of Melo, and the wisdom of Karl should be independently respected, the question is what should we make of their collaboration at this point? Or Karl's collabo with the whole team for the matter? Nobody can argue with 50 odd wins, but we have to analyze their performance with respect to the conference they are in. The Nuggets are not moving to DC anytime soon. Are they? Can somebody check on tha

The Nuggets are not moving to DC anytime soon. Are they? Can somebody check on that. Hahah. My point is: I hope the Nuggets brass will be smart about this.

Bronco brief: Mike Vanderjagt's agent says still no word from the Broncos as of yesterday concerning whether they are interested in his client. He told me this yesterday.

Former Bronco Brief: Congratulations to Tatum Bell on his upcoming wedding this weekend I was told.

Anything else I know? Ahhhh, can't think at this point. I need a bowl of cheerios. Honey Nut Cheerios that is. Don't do regular...smilers.
