A reliable NBA Source has told Fox 31 Sports, a report in the
Sacramento Bee on trade talks between the Nuggets and the Kings for Ron
Artest is "way overstated."
“The Nuggets and Kings have not
discussed a deal,” this source added, “the 2 sides haven’t had any
conversations in 10 to 14 days."
This source also told us
tonight, General Manager’s talk to other GM’s all of the time, but that
doesn’t qualify as “preliminary trade talks.”
The Nuggets,
like many other teams around the league, will start having more serious
discussions for deals during the upcoming All-Star Weekend.
The
Nuggets front office has left their calendars open from February 18th
through the 21st to concentrate on making a deal, and they are looking
to make a major move.
A deal for Artest could eventually move
to the front burner, but “there are no LIVE conversations right now,”
said this source, "The Nuggets are playing poker everywhere, but right
now, they are not heads up with the Kings for Artest."
