Check this out, friends. Now our tax dollars are being used to BUS VOTERS TO THE POLLS!

Alachua County, being the liberal haven that it is, has used county school buses to bus students to the polls so that they could vote.

Isn't THAT special?

"That point of view is apparently shared by a large number of Eastside seniors. Thursday, 23 of them boarded a school bus and rode across town to the Millhopper Branch Library to vote for the first time."

Give me a BREAK, MO!

Might presumptuous of you, dontcha think?

This is bullBLEEP and you know it (if you'll excuse ME for being presumptuous).

I hate to make a racial issue out of this, but it would not even be a topic of conversation if the high school in question was not in a predominantly black section of town.

There was nothing mentioned about students from Buchholz High (in an upper-class section of town) being bused to the polls.

They are doing it too here in Hills Co. They are bussing them from low income areas. No one in the suburbs are getting that treatment. They are bussing them to one early voting location only in Temple Terr. Did they do this when it was 2 white guys opposing each other? No! It is a race thing. Period. There I said it.

Well, FloydFreak, from your "Liberal" cue, I figured you were ticked because these kids would be voting for Obama.

Are you that bitter that getting kids bused to a polling place bugs you? You should be glad that they are voting. Period. Whomever they vote for.

Perhaps this is just misguided anger at the powers that be that sold us ALL down the river w/the bailout? That's what you should be pissed at. Our new USSA. John voted for it along w/Barry.

I guess complaining about kids being bussed to vote is easier than complaining about real problems that affect all of us?

Good to see you added in 'rich' kids didn't need to be bussed. How fitting. I expect nothing less from your generous spirit.

Hey UI:

If it was a PRIVATELY-funded effort, I would have no problem. But this is a GOVERNMENT-SPONSORED, TAXPAYER-FUNDED initiative.

Get your head out of the orifice that you have it so firmly implanted. This is cr@p - you just won't admit it.

Whose heads up whose orifice?

Oh that's right, the people that can't stand free breakfast or lunch for poor kids...

Silly me.

Moo,

I know I would be upset if public funds were used to bus voters for ANYONE to the polls. If these "kids" want to get to polls, let them get there like everyone else that votes! These kids don't have cars and or friends to take them? The liberals are realizing that signing up a kid to vote, doesn't mean they will get that lazy bastard to go vote come election day. They know that most kids would rather play video games than wait in line to vote on Nov 4th!

Floyd,

Our friend Moo is just one of the cattle in the liberal herd, mooing back what they tell her. That's why I shortened her name to Moo months ago. She wont admit when her side does anything wrong. By her side, I mean the liberal side. She talk about Ron Paul a lot but sounds like a branded liberal.

That is the only way to get the "kids" to vote. They don't show up anyway else. The American spirit to me is being a responsible citizen, doing for yourself, not relying on others to get your butt up, out of bed and make it to the poll in time to cast your vote. Call us what you want? The libs are so inventive at helping those they "care" so deeply for. They "care' so much for them that the power they get at keeping them poor and keeping them down is overwhelming.
I don't vote early. I think it is UnAmerican.

Quote from my pal Freak, "But this is a GOVERNMENT-SPONSORED, TAXPAYER-FUNDED initiative."

What do you call the fat cat bailout or the worthless borrower bailout plan? The cost = 1.5 TRILLION $$$ before we're done..

The cost of a bus ride to ensure that old folks and young voters can make it to the polls is about $47 of my tax $$$. Split between the Alachuains that's about 1/10 of a cent per person.

This is a discussion of priorities.

Is it a function of government to assist old people getting to the polls and encouraging young people to vote for the first (and hopefully not the last) time? Is health care for children a priority? It is for the Dem's.

For the RWNJ's all of this is a terrible waste of tax $$$ while the bailouts, the 10 billion per month in the "war to hang saddam", the free spending in DC, the rape of the constitution and the subsidies of the evil oil giants is JUST PEACHY KEEN.

Life is a matter of priorites and we know where ours lie...how about you? Try as you may you can't hide from the truth and the truth is, American is sick and tired of the corrupt, selfish and narrowminded "vision" of the Republicans.

We need CHANGE!

I am your normal, middle-class, "working Joe". But I am also a capitalist and believe that nothing good comes from socialistic entitlement programs. I believe in hunting down and killing terrorists like the little rats that they are (except that that statement is denigrating to rats). I grew up in a very conservative household and was fortunate enough to have had a conservative American Government teacher (a retired US Army colonel) who helped to show me the "right" way. Are there things that I would like to change? Absolutely. But NOT the kind of "change" being espoused by Hillarock Obaminton. I have lived in Florida for forty of my forty-eight years. I've been a big Pink Floyd fan since my teen years hence the moniker, FloydFreak. My friends call me Freak, Floyd, and FF. The libs call me a neocon. I wear that badge proudly. Please note that I enjoy engaging in spirited discussion - even with those with whom I disagree. There are a number of individuals on these boards whom I respect even if I DO think that they're out of touch with reality. Please note also that I do not tolerate personal attacks on my character. If you think that I'm full of BLEEP, you have the right to say so. But drag my character into the gutter and expect retaliation in kind with FloydFreak's own brand of sarcasm. Keep it civil and we'll get along fine. To those of you that see good in America and want the OPPORTUNITY for prosperity for all - and do not just seek to soak it to "the rich", I say God bless you. And God bless America!
