In todays world there seems no easy answer to any problem, yes we could round up the illegals and ship them out, but then we would just find them again within a year. so the answer does not lay there. i propose that we trade the debt Mexico owes us for Baja, then develop a program that will provide jobs, build low income housing, plan resort type communities and industry according with environmental impact laws.

Mexico refuses to care for its people and promotes illegal immigration into America, the US cannot take care of its own people, hurting the middle class and keeping the low and poverty class in sufferage, we can provide food to a new community from allowing farmers to grow and reducing substidies. the money saved by Not having to transport and process, feed and medical for illegals will be enough to start a program with the Mexican government, it needs to be regulated and oversight would have to be heavy, with the benifits going to those whom need jobs and homes, amnesty would be enacted for that purpose only, that they seek the jobs in Baja.

This unfortunately is the only answer that does not lead to inhumane treatment, which deporting illegals obviously leads to. We suffer the problem due to political partys fear of offending the donators and this will always be the case, there is always an answer, we just have to look for it.

I look for answers and would beat any candidate running in solutions... John Hargis Sr

"This unfortunately is the only answer that does not lead to inhumane treatment, which deporting illegals obviously leads to."

How so?

Tell me how deportation is inhumane?

Simply put, a man or woma attempts the seemingly impossible to find a better life, or at least the pursuit of happiness, to know their hardships, is to know their life and not be ignorant of their dreams. They start the journey from the poverty of their country, or running from genocide, crossing rivers and braving desert heat looking for the small opening and people that care to help them succeed. Then when they are found in violation, they are sent back into what they fought so hard to escape from, only to be forced to attempt the journey again and there is the sad reality of those who have to continue to live in poverty and lack of medical care waiting for those that do journey to find help for their loved ones. That in and of itself is inhumane. The US. needs to develop a plan to help those that seek escape find hope within their own country, we spend billions of dollars on this illegal immigrant circle, which could be better spent on our own poverty and low class Americans. We will spend in any case, so why not start a plan with Mexico to create jobs and housing in Mexico, say Baja, that will give hope to illegals and the will to stay in their country.

Your fault is not that you have a good heart, but that you are naive.

Your last two sentences are very logical, but a tad hopeful. The problem isn't the U.S., it's Mexico. They would not maintain or sustain a housing or job market that we initially create. They are bigots, selfish, currupt, a-holes.

Now on to the criticism.

You paint a pretty picture of immigrants. First, hopefully you're talking about Mex immigrants, not world immigrants to the U.S. If so, you are assuming A LOT.

1. That they're all after the American Dream
2. That they are all 'good'
3. That there are no criminals in the bunch

Assuming they're all good (which they are not), what exactly are they escaping besides sh i t ty conditions? Crime? Not our problem. We provide assylum to those escaping actual genocide (of which there is none of in Mexico), political and religious persecution.

As you have already stated, we have our own crime and poverty to worry about.

Do you even know why illegal immigration is illegal?

When they are deported, and they try to come back... they are not "forced". They do so by "choice" as they did the first time.

I understand your point and i added genocide as just a reason for illegal immigration, not as a reason for flight from mexico.
The laws are in place, it is the government and their fight with state politicians and their refusal to impliment them, my idea was an alternative to another civil war, but there is also the border to contend with, which the federal gov. should annex by eminant domain up to a 1/2 mile strip from the pacific to the gulf, then secure it with natl guard, this will remove the constraints of the state politicians and their refusal to enforce the laws. as a world leader, the US has a moral responcibility to help those in need, to just drop and forget, then say it is not our problem is not the voice of a free and democratic country. The criminal element will have to be weeded out for the sake of those seeking a better life for their families, etc.that element will always be involved in any plan, or any immigration, illegal or not, so i did not feel it was nessesary to state the obvious. If a plan is developed to start a community in Mexico for these people, then it should at least be governed by US or the UN and the trade of land for a debt that we know mexico will never pay is the best way to guarentee its success without interfearance from the greedy in Mexico city. You are right to want illegals out of the US, and yes that would help many fellow Americans and the economy, but humanity dictates that we also help them find a place, if it is possible and try until all avenues are exhausted. Only then can we say, we tried everything.

I think with the supreme courts recent ruling on picture id's , it might soften the Democrats pro -position on illegal immigration. We can only hope.......

The fix is round up all the illegals, (President Eisenhour did it in the 1950's) give them a gun and turn them around point them back ot mexico city and tell them to take care of their problem. Then line the border with the nat guard while the fence is being built with automated 50 cal machine guns that fires on anything that moves. Tell them they are welcome to step in line for legal immigration. and enforce the laws of reading, writing, and speaking english.

Wow, JWHargis, at least you have a solution in mind. I for one, do not know if your approach will work. I do know, that it is the best idea I have heard coming from someone on THIS site!

Thanks for the praise, but remember, it should not just be me, everyone should contribute, weed out the faults and make the solution better....
