The Presidents war in Iraq should have ceased when Sadam was captured, everything past that moment has been a gamble and Mr Bush developed a gambling problem, with a seemingly unlimited bankroll and a get out of jail free card.

At the capture of Sadam he should have sent our representitives and established a capitol in the green zone, then set up a basic government, sectioning off the seperate religious parties as states and developed a treasury from the country's commodity of oil and then held elections, pulled the troops and left advisors. The sad part of this, is that he expected to change a 5,000 year old culture into his idea of a democracy in five years, it took America 200 years and we still haven't got it right.

What developed was to my thinking was Mr Bush wanting a position from which to keep an eye on Iran, due to whatever intllegence he was getting at the time, the gamble is still being played, possibly in the hopes of a bigger win in the form of Bin Laden and at the cost of some 60,000 civilians, but that is nothing compared to the estimated 2 million killed in the Vietnam war.

The fix can still be done, it can be organized and my guess, is that the bombings, kidnappings and killings will stop. The President has proved to his citizens and the world that his resolve is unbreakable, but will it continue to affect our nation after he is gone, and for how long. Will his replacement take office with common sense, or will he or she be subject to repaying corporate America the favors of winning the election and continue to be led by the war industry. Are we ready for the next President to continue pissing off the world, or will the next President allow the UN to do its job.

My younger brother says that, woulda shoulda, its history. Sounds like you have givin up on the war altogether, but the war is still going and until it is done that phrase has no place here.
The UN is what we make it, if we continue to undemine it there will always be problems, and what, pray tell, would be your answer to fixing it, we are already resolutioned to death here in America and it sounds like you say, woulda shoulda to just about everything, you look like you have money, so you are content and you come here from bordum...

So in fact America hasn't got it right after 200 years, what the hell makes you think sectioning of Iraq and leaving advisors, as you say, would work after Saddam got what he was looking for?? You make no sense.
Besides most of what you described took place,i.e., capital in the green zone,(which ain't so "green" by the way), and put advisors in place. That has worked marginally.
As far as the U.N., careful what you wish for. The U.N. needs disbanded simply for it's lack of worth and it's failure to accomplish anything in decades.
Truth1... you rich devil you, are you bored???

First off i would like to say, thank you for your service and I am proud that you are their fighting for freedom and America.
The dancing and celibration of the people of Iraq at Sadams capture became the time to initiate a program, to continue to stay deteriorated that celibration and started the problems you and your brothers witness and suffer today. It was and is a waste of life, in both the civilian and soldier communities. The idea was and is possible. The UN was begun by the US and the idea is sound, but as with all things, there is room for improvement.
I would hope that instead of knocking down ideas, that more people would make suggestions to improve them and work together.
God Bless you and your brothers and sisters fighting for US.

"...his idea of a democracy in five years..."

"...allow the UN to do it's job."

Are you kidding me? His idea? No, it's the American standard that has kept this country afloat, and a world leader for over 60 yrs. It's the Iraqi's that don't take a liking to it because they prefer Islamic law... we should recognize that.

We've never had to 'allow' the U.N. to do anything... we're the ones always pushing them to get things done, and when they drag a s s, we have to pick up the slack. Don't forget the U.S. funds at least 22% of the UN... dwarfing any other contributions.

Five years was the standard after Bush started the campaign, that is what i based my blog on, and the UN is not perfect, far from it, but it is a buffer forum for countries to state their concerns and find solutions to deal with an international problem, and it is nessesary, without it we would more than likely be worse off and at war in more ways than we are now.
With the UN there is a chance for peaceable solutions to the worlds problems, without it, the USA stands alone and though we are the greatest nation in the world, we stand no chance against the world. it is not our place to govern the religious right of another country and i have said that before.

JW... you like to mix things up huh? Truth with lies, or your versions of reality, rather.

The UN is a blasphame of what it was intended to do, though still more effective than the League of Nations.

If the UN had any backbone, would have allowed the US to eliminate Sadam Insane in the first gulf war... but we decided to listen to them... and here we are. Back then, there wouldn't have been a prolonged occupation... in and out... but we listened to those who have no interest in us.

The U.N. is all talk. Iraq violated a crap load of resolutions and knew that threats from the U.N. in the form of sanctions and more talks would only hurt its own people (Iraqi's) of which Sadam cared nothing for... he kept on eating Papa John's, while everyone else was left with Blackjack pizza (that's supposed to be shi tty comparison).

Screw the U.N. All we need are England and Japan.

There are no lies from this blog, only a strong belief, japan is a business based government and will sell to the highest bidder, England is a monarchy and to this day is more worried about its royals than the rights and wrongs of the world, as far as pizza, well, i have my own recipie and everyone whom has eaten in my kitchen would rather return to it than eat out.

Strong beliefs in flatulance in my opinion.

We wrote Japan's consitution, we control them.. if you don't think so, just look at the way they do business... their military... all fasioned after us (same could be said of Germany).. England has no greater ally than U.S. If we go your way, when the Monarchy is attacked, they turn to U.S.

Pasquini's serves the best pizza.

Iraq will never see American democracy. They want islamic rule.. or a dictator, or a combination.. but that is what they need. No other M.E. country has a democracy. They pay attention to Mohammed and the almighty Dollar.

evedently the Bush admin doesn't think so or we would be gone from Iraq, do some research on the Japan economy and its government, their ownership in US land. GB will of course be an ally, we are the only ones who really care, but if the UN falls and europe continues to arguement the actions of the US, then sends an ultimatum to GB, what do you think will happen...........

The arguement against the US by Europe? What argument? What are they against that we do? Iraq? Ha! You think they would go to war over Iraq? They could give two shats. It's trendy to be humanitarian right now.. they are appeasing their voters.. When the shat hits the fan, it's us they look to. GB next, Germany next, maybe France.

You're way too hypthetical... this argument is dumb.

After reading all these opinions, I have to say all of you are right in some ways and all of you are wrong in other ways...This would be great if we could take ALL of the right ideas and impliment them into action and discard the wrong ones..Problem is neither one of you want to admit that the other is right on anything...Hypothetical? Yes on both sides...NOBODY has ALL of the right answers, not even me..LOL..But I am at least one to admit that...(cont)

Bush isn't smart enough to have "his own ideas" on anything, let alone democracy, yes Iraq is and always will be under Islamic Law, and we have NO right to change that, although, there are MANY politician who would like to. I don't approve of Islamic Law, but that is me, they do follow Mohammed and that is that, so what, if anyone wants to follow that and not our law, so beit, move there, you will move back very quickly. They are NOT the only ones who believe in the "almighty dollar" that is a worldwide problem. We are stuck with the problems in Iraq and I don't see any way out, so now we have to find a way to "fix" the issues in a way that will satisfy the NATION of IRAQ and it's people without letting our influences get in the way..Almost impossible in my eyes. It is going to take YEARS. The first thing we have to do is QUIT the attacks, and become guardians of our own while the dust settles, and then help the PEOPLE of IRAQ establish a government "Of the people (THEIR PEOPLE), for the people (THEIR PEOPLE) and by the people(THEIR PEOPLE)" which is also next to impossible..We are still working on that too...Their ways are NOT our ways, but they have the RIGHT to be a PEOPLE all to themselves, without the outside influence of the US and IT'S ways of life...The UN is worthless if you don't respect the rights of others. If a country has only it's own agenda in sight, it is blinded by the opinions of others, and their individual agendas...I could care less who has the best pizza. We live in a democracy, it works best for us Great Britain lives in a Monorchy, and it works for

It works for them..Again..Their ways are not our ways and our ways are not always their ways, nor are they ALWAYS right...LET THEM BE THEM!!!!!I feel this is about oil and the greedy politicians behind it cannot just go take it so they have to find ways that the whole worl agrees with and makes us look like "humanitarians" in the proccess....Good luck with that.....
