The threat of terrorism will always be with us, more from an eye for an eye, than anything else. There should be a council of religious leaders, i don't mean who each religion choses to represent themselves, but leaders that will sit down and find a common ground, that have influence in most or all aspects of their belief's and who the public at large will listen to.

I am not saying that terrorist have any right to do the things they do, they know they are wrong and with human nature involved, they don't require much to be set off, but we need to start listening, instead of waiting for the next attack, we need to think prevention, once we accomplish that, then it will be easier to negotiate for those who are responcible for past attacks.

I don't know who should host the council, or what guidelines need be set down, but the council should be perminant and once these leaders state the problems and concerns, i believe we will see results. All we think of is war and to continue on this course will surely end in a tragedy like the world has never seen.

In the beginning there was God, we cannot live without God, and we cannot continue to kill and destroy in Gods name.

Let me ask you a question; What would you do if a family member was killed and you knew who did it, but could not prove it. You would move heaven and earth to avenge that family member, but if you had sat down with those whom might do your family harm and worked out your problems, you would not be on a revenge rampage, and you would continue to enjoy that family members companionship and a long life together.
Also, i am independant, and not of any political party, patrties do nothing but screw up America and the greed and power force the middle and low calss to suffer.

I learned the hard way many years ago, that if you don't concider all variables in a problem, then the problem finds a way to return and get worse. I have 3 sons and family members that i love more than life itself, and have in the past faced death for a few of them, but i want their future to be the best possible and someday they may be in a situation that i cannot help them with, so i must trust my fellow man and woman to care and help them get through that situation. To do this i need to convince the public that all variables need to be concidered, that those in government are doing everything possible to keep not only my family, but those whom may be in a position to stop a possible scenario that would hurt them, as i have taught my sons to look at variables and help there fellow Americans in any situation.
The police have hostage negotiators in hostage situations, more times than not, they work and a peacefull result is found. There is always a chance that the right people can be found to prevent a terrorist attck, we just have to keep looking in addition to fighting the the terrorist themselves. There is always hope, we just have to look for it..

You always get more with a kind word and a 155mm Howitzer than just a kind word alone.

JW,

I have to agree with Garageguy and Alfadawg on this one. These people don’t want peace. They do however want to work out their problems with us, but the only way they can do that is by killing us. They also are not interested in creating terror, so “terrorist” is really not an appropriate title for them, “enemy” covers it pretty well. They are interested in one thing and one thing only…eliminating us from the globe. You cannot reason with an Islamo-Facist. When dealing with these people, our only hope of a diplomatic end, is to have bigger guns, more bullets and better soldiers (which, by the way, we have all three).

I am in PARTIAL agreement with GarageGuy and alfadawg2. Terrorist do NOT want peace with us, BUT it is NOT the Muslims, it is the RADICAL muslims that are at fault, NOT ALL Muslims act the way the Radicals do, most are rational, caring, and peaceful people. And yes, you do "get more with a kind word and a 155mm Howitzer than just a kind word alone", but why add the "155 Howitzer"? Can you imagine who thing would be in this country if our Congressman and women came into a hearing to put their views on the table and when their collegues diagreed, pulled out a "Howitzer" and mowed them all down. I really don't feel that when you go to the negotiating table with a weapon, a whole lot will be accomplished. If there was a "religious counsel", one thing that would come of that, would be that the religious ideals of ALL religions would be in the open, not hidden like the Muslim beliefs. But on that same note, I seriously DOUBT, Bin Laden would send a representative to the table...

Bin Laden, i would hope, is not the religious leader of the Muslim religion and with that would be subject to whatever was agreed upon, if not, then he would have more than the USA to deal with. The domino affect can work both ways. being the US has moral standards, then we have to understand that all Muslims are not terrorists and hope that a religious councel will allow us to find radical Muslims, and that the councel wants peace as well as the rest of the world....

Actually IF Bin Laded IS the leader of the terrorist group Al-Quada, they are RADICAL muslims, and set apart from other Muslims, and IF you want to hear HIS take on Jihad, since Al-Quada is a HUGE part of terrorism today, then HIS group should be represented. That is all I was saying...We also must understand that although "We", the US have a LARGE number of Christians and "moral standards" those standards are shared by a LARGE and diverse mixture of religions that equally contribute to those "moral standards".
