Where's the ACLU when you need them?  Oh, that's right, they're probably the ones promlugating this along with CAIR.  Read this article, and tell me if this angers you.

Report: Maryland Textbooks on Islamic Teachings Dumbed Down

Sunday, June 08, 2008

A textbook monitoring group said that Maryland middle and high school students will be required to read about Islamic teachings that have been dumbed down and are products of political correctness.

According to the New York Examiner, a new report issued by the American Textbook Council said that administrators who approved books for use in the Montgomery County school district caved into pressure by pro-Islamic groups seeking to present a less violent interpretation of Islam.

Gilbert Sewall, director of the council, stated that, for example, the definition of jihad has gone through "amazing cultural reorchestration" in textbooks, losing any connotation of violence, the Examiner wrote.

Other terms, such as sharia law, have been adjusted or removed from lessons to avoid what he called "inconvenient truths."

Montgomery County Public Schools defended the decision to use the books, saying in a statement that all texts used by teachers had been properly vetted and were appropriate for classroom uses.

"all texts used by teachers had been properly vetted and were appropriate for classroom uses."

That's the part that really hit me.

Properly vetted by whom?

Appropriate under whose standards?

I'm guessing that the parents are not the people they are referring to in their statement, this "teaching" material (read:PROPAGANDA) was produced by the ACLU and the Teacher's Union in collusion with the people who believe we should all be dead. Nice.

I'm sure when Obama is President all this nonsense will come to a stop, since he's promising CHANGE, right?

Right?

The "Change You Can Believe In" line is accurate, the change refers to socialism and Islamification, and you can believe in the fact that the subversion from within has been going full throttle for years!

There was a kid in new jersy that was musliim and sued the school dist and won because graduation was held in a baptist church. His reasoning is that his belief prohibits going to places that have pictures God.... Excuse me but what does God look like?

Public schooling is a Federal and State funded program, and therefore no child should be required to enter a supposed holy chapel to accept their graduation documents.

Islam should not be taught in our schools, nor should Christianity. They are merely belief systems that should be left out of fact based teachings.

Had the Christian brethren treated human beings better in the past, the birth of Islam wouldn't have occurred. Food for thought. Christians continue to feed the Islamic faith with their constant banter and hate filled dribble.

gj flash please note vetted by governors who control text book selection and set both curriculum and course of study for both public grade schools and colleges - parent representatives are included in previewing text books at all grade levels and have a weighted voice.

Mind sharing any of this Christian 'dribble'? I can share plenty of hate-filled Islam dribble.

i beg your pardon sir! do not make gross over generalization about either cultures nor religions. it avails nothing.

muslims lived comfortable side by side with jews and christains in the middle east until when? why?

we will not start this nonsense in the usa....

Muslims have never lived comfortably. They conquered people to their religion by the sword, and surrounded hebrews, jews, and christians.

They are the most intolerant religion in the world. Ask any Indian who has had to live next them (Pakistan/India).

Even though I'm Christian, I don't speak ill of Hindu's or Budists, or pretty much any other religion except Islam... because the proof is in the pudding.

I relish the pic's or depictions of moses, noah, jesus, matthew, paul, john, luke, and so many more. If one cannot tolerate the depictions of religious persons or symbols it appears to me to be part of the political EDIT movement to remove what is true and dear to the christian based society in america. I have no tolerance for some of this stuff. The pc crowd is the intolerant crowd.

Who attacked who?

British Imperialism and supposed American diplomacy set the current course of events in the Middle East. Christian crusades birthed Islam.

Wow, you are simple!

It takes a real simpleton to believe that the terrorist attacks of 9/11 were more than merely a catalyst for our administration to declare war in Iraq in the hopes of inflating defense budgets and government contracts.

Owww, how cute! You little guys are scared of the evil terrorists! Just like the scared fat and lazy Americans on those planes that couldn't man up and control the situation.

"oh no! he's got a 1" knife! What do we do!"

Christian crusades had nothing to do with the creation of islam. according to islam it was created whemAdam came down to earth. When the Quran is revealed to prophet Muhammad the Quran was complete and islam was completed. In the year 622 ce Muhammad and the jewsjoined in a treaty. And for your information the first crusade did'nt happen untill 1096 when pope Urban II with multiple objectives of freeing eastern christians and relieving Jerusalem from Islam. British imperialism and American Diplomacy somewhat true. The british divided the middleeast up into what it is to day. American diplomacy- support for Isreal. Your assertion that those people was fat and lazy is unfounded. you missed your plane.

You're wrong. Muhammad supposedly received his first revelation in 610, and he died in 632, but his Arab brethren denounced the religion, the leaders of Mecca forced Muhammad and his followers to leave Mecca, four Caliphs ensued, and the religion was reborn and used to unite the Arab people upon the Christian Crusades.

Muhammad was the seed that took CENTURIES to turn to fruition.

Islam wasn't embraced by Arabs for centuries.

Muhammad decided to leave Mecca becaust there was a meccan action to kill him persueded he went to Yathrib (Medina today) Pledge of Aqaba’ made a year before on the occasion of the annual rites of pilgrimage. The pledge was made by seventy three men and two women of Khazraj and Aws communities of Medina. They had accepted Islam and wanted to invite the Prophet to migrate to Medina. Their motivation for this move, apart from recognizing him as the Prophet, the trustworthy, and the best in conduct in Mecca, was to bring peace and security between the Khazraj and Aws. They were often at war with each other and the Battle of Bu'ath had shattered their strength completely. They desperately needed a leader who could be trusted by both communities and bring peace in Medina. As part of the pledge, they were to protect the Prophet as they would protect their women and children if he were attacked by the MeccanAmong the people in Medina, there was a small community (three tribes) of Jews with Arab communities constituting the majority of the population. Because of wars going on for several generations, the resources of the Arabs were depleted and their influence in Medina was dwindling. The Jews were traders and many of them used to lend money at exorbitant interest. The continuing wars boosted their economy and personal wealth. The immediate result of the Prophet’s migration to Medina was peace and unity between the communities of Aws and Khazraj. The Prophet, motivated by the general welfare of citizens of Medina, decided to offer his services to the remaining communities includi
