I really didn't expect 'stang to respond to the quotes I posted regarding starting a long list of people to be ticked at instead of a short list full of fluff. I'd have been surprised if he had.

The quotes are hard to refute.  Here are a few regarding Troop levels  w/the link to the rest on different topics regarding the war:

"The idea that it would take several hundred thousand U.S. forces, I think, is far from the mark."
- Donald H. Rumsfeld, U.S. Secretary of Defense, 2/27/03

"I am reasonably certain that they will greet us as liberators, and that will help us keep [troop] requirements down. ... We can say with reasonable confidence that the notion of hundreds of thousands of American troops is way off the mark...wildly off the mark."
- Paul Wolfowitz, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense, testifying before the House Budget Committee, 2/27/03

"I would be surprised if we need anything like the 200,000 figure that is sometimes discussed in the press. A much smaller force, principally special operations forces, but backed up by some regular units, should be sufficient."
- Richard Perle, Chairman of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board, 7/11/02

"I don't believe that anything like a long-term commitment of 150,000 Americans would be necessary."
- Richard Perle, speaking at a conference on "Post-Saddam Iraq" sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute, 10/3/02

Face it, it's easier to be ticked at a celebrity for using a poor choice of words than to be ticked at the 'politicians' that put our military into its present state.  It's easier to be ticked at a celebrity for 'disrespecting' our Troops than be ticked at the actual men who show no real respect for our military by their words & actions to date.

If anything, I expected him to respond that the quotes were bogus because of the site they are compiled on.  A simple search-engine check will show they are real quotes.  Unfortunately...  They show who we really should be mad at.  People that will never be held accountable for the decisions they've made that affect us all?

Tell me, since they got it so wrong, why would anyone listen to them when they contemplate bomb, bomb, bombing Iran?  Hello!

If y'all are picking on him for me, cease please.  We are trying to keep the slams down are we not?  It's a frustrating time to be debating politics and civility is to our benefit.  Otherwise, we are just a sold-out career politicians dream.  Focused on the fluff instead of the real problems we all face.

Good, I come back and those two new threads are gone. It's better that way but now this thread looks out of context. oh well. No biggie.

Those quotes are enough to give a person heartburn. Once again, why would anyone listen to them now? They certainly got it wrong the first time. The PNAC goofed and we're all paying the price.

Pick on poor little Stang? The horror of it Moonie.

When you choose to defend the indefensible I guess it comes with the territory. Civility MUST be maintained and Stang is a pal so LAY OFF people.

He drives a mustang, lives the country life and likes to cook....ALL great attributes.

It is a greater INSULT to the troops when their tours are endless and extended and their medical and mental treatment is a disgrace.

There are dozens of reasons to condemn the criminal actions and inactions of this band of braggards, our shameful cabal of crooks.

Give Stang credit for undertaking such an impossible task.

King is a weird little duck however.

I agree. If he gets picked on too much he'll have to run to Land of the Mouse and talk smack about us w/the others ;) Hi FloydFreak, Hi Hawkeye. We know you're lurking over here. Don't worry, I don't have the time, energy or desire to post on yet another board. Y'all are 'safe' from me. :)

These quotes could tie into the "Elitist" thread too. Talk about people who think they are above the 'fray'. Were these men 'demoted' for their 'incorrect' thinking? Heck no, more like promoted. And so it goes.

Is it January yet?

hehehehehe.... I got another call from the Dems yesterday. They don't know what to say when I tell them I'm voting for Ron Paul this time. I guess I'm now on the list of possible homegrown terrorists? Supporting someone who embraces the Constitution? What kind of unPatriotic traitor am I anyways? Don't I know those out-of-date documents get in the way of fighting terrorists? Silly, misguided girl. Maybe it'll just be the reeducation camp for me? (The Long Walk)

Yes...isn't it amazing how much opposition to Senator Webb's GI Bill there is?

And this gelding wants to worry about what some author says which has no real direct bearing on the troops!

We should be disgraced at how the rule makers are taking the brave souls that served as suckers with their used car salesmen pitch to get them to enlist only to come back to them later and tell them they didn't read the fine print!

Ok.....this is a much better place to debate the quotes you felt nessary to post on my blog.
As I said in that blog, I was interested in YOUR words as a reply, not in anyone elses quotes. Mr King's quote was my topic. Now these quotes are YOUR toppic. Make sense now?

Before I comment....Why did you feel it was nessary to post the quotes anyway on my glog when you already had the link there?

Perhaps one day we will get an administration that decides to straighten out the mess that surrounds our military? It's a big task that has been messed up for decades.

Tho, I think Blackwater ticks me off more. Imno, it is a slap in the face to anyone in our military to bring in private contractors who make tons more money and have much better equipment than our Troops. To me, that is upside down. Perhaps we should pull our Troops back home to protect us and leave all those contractors there to do 'the job'?

If Charles Rengal(sp) gets his way, a draft will be in our near future. 18-48. This time, no Fortunate Sons (Daughters) will be able to find 'better things to do'. Unless they want to spend time in a jail cell. That will get people riled I'm sure. If TheDecider decides to invade Iran, say hello to the return of The Draft. StopLoss or not, private contractors or not, we don't have the numbers for Iran. Yet.

mmustangg, you mentioned how we should have went over with many more troops and got the job done. That's when I posted the actual quotes regarding troop levels on your blog.

Before that, I posted the link w/all the quotes to show you whom you should really be making a list about. Not celebrities shooting their mouths off, but actual people 'in charge' who put us into this mess w/their short-sighted thinking. Many of whom have gone on to cush promotions.

That's all.

Here we go.....

I'm not going to defend any of these quotes you posted. Truth be told, I think the war in Iraq could have been handled much better! I believe we should have put the 200,000 troops on the ground on day one and then manned the Iran border so no one could come acrossed and start trouble. As it happened, the people DID see us as liberators! Did you forget the people dancing in the streets? It's the outside Iranian influence that has kept this going longer than we 1st thought it would. The biggest problem with this war was trying to keep the lilly livers on the left happy! Bush's mistake was thinking we could piece meal this out so the left wouldn't throw hissy fits. So no, I'm not happy with a lot of those people but I'm sure you wont find a single one of them calling our troops illiterate simply for enlisting! That was the point of my blog that started this. I find ANYONE, that would question the intellegents or integrity of our troops, to be lower than the enemy we are fighting. Mr King is a low in that respect as John Edwards was when he walked that insulting road!

Speaking of insults, why is it that FTP finds it nessary to use personal insults as a form of debate? Is it because that on average, no one replies to his ranting blogs and he thus gets frustrated? Poor FTP.

You guys(and gals) can insult me all you want. I wont run off to the Orlando blog because I actually LIVE in Tampa! I have a much thicker skin and your insults only bolster my points. I welcome them as long as they are not vulgar as were some lastnight.

Why is this a better place to debate the qoutes gelding? Was she making you look stupid on your own post? I still don't see any debate from you on the qoutes??? Bring it on so I can watch the Owl school you today! Hurry up though as I only have an hour and then have to head back out! LOL

You should know, the "Wise Young Owl" will keep you devoid of logic hypocrites honest!

MO,

I wanted to post that, directly after my 1st reply but the damned phone rang.

I know we dont have the troops yet to take care of Iran and actually, if it weren't for Saddam's saber rattling, they should have been our first target! I have never said this war was faught flawlessly but my defence of the troops should only be as strong as their defence of me! That's why i took such umberance to Mr King's words, as I do when anyone insults our troops!

Again, my intention wasn't to sensor your comments on my blog. The majority of what i delted(2 posts not counting FTPs insults) were quotes available in the link that i did leave. I feel that if we dont keep our blogs on topic and keep the personal insults off them, we will be on permanant lock down. If that happens, it will be the only thing that will keep me from participating here.

FTP,

This is the propper place because those quotes had nothing to do with my topic of Mr King's insult. Are you that dumb that you cant see that? My deleting them wasn't an attempt to avoid them. As you can see(if you can read) I did respond to them. Did you expect my reply to be in defence of them? Sorry to disappoint you. I'm not as 2 dimentional as you are. Your dimentions being "Rant & Insult".

And I was looking for something of substance!

What a disappointment!

OK...you all have a great day!

And gelding, if you want something to be pissed about, Google Jim Webb+GI Bill.

If that doesn't piss you off worse than some authors comments...!

Yes Owl, like the Fox RWNJ's O'Riely and company, these yahoos go for the fluff, avoiding anything with substance!

Defending the indefensible.

Dumbo the Flying Fools deserves no less for his head has been stuck so far "where the sun don't shine", the poor boy suffers from methane intoxication.....the only possible cause for that stupid smirk.

Good try Stang, but an impossible task nonetheless.

FTP,

You hunt for more substasnce in my reply if you like and I'll hunt for civility and intelligents in yours.

YD,

I didn't defend those quotes because I dont agree with all them. I did reply to them though because I was asked to. In their propper context I might add.(them being the topic) If you want to find an impossible task, try to get FTP to reply to someone without insulting them. THAT is impossible!*lol*
