Here's a bit:

"The title of the House committee report sums up what happened: “Die or Give Up Trying: How Poor Contractor Performance, Government Mismanagement and the Erosion of Quality Controls Denied Thousands of Disabled Veterans Timely and Accurate Retroactive Retired Pay Awards.”

The report by the majority staff of the House Oversight and Government Reform domestic policy panel, released Tuesday, concluded that at least 28,283 disabled retirees were denied retroactive pay awards because rushed efforts to clear a huge backlog of claims led program administrators to stop doing quality assurance checks on the claims decisions.

And of the original 133,057 potentially eligible veterans, 8,763 died before their cases could be reviewed for retroactive payments, according to the report."

Our government lets our vets die waiting for their rightful benefits cause they are incompetent and the left wants them more involved in our day to day lives to the point of controling what you can and cant do.Such as taking control of the oil companies omg what a clusterf**k that would be.They can't govern themselves muchless anything else.

We have some serious housecleaning to do. That's for sure. Yeah, I'll hold my breath on that one....

No one in our government - both sides of the aisle - has any right to even mention "Support the Troops".

This government has proven by their actions (or lack there of) that they don't give two flips about our soldiers no matter what words they mouth for the cameras.

I realize this isn't a 'new' problem, but this current government has done nothing to try to fix this problem either. Especially while they are adding to it by their policies overseas.

Impeach en toto!

"the left"...who are you talking about, short one?

would the "left" see to it that vets get their benefits before they DIE!

the right hasn't been doing a very good job, have they?

Maybe it's time to give the "left" a try.

Barack Hussein Obama!!! King of the Left!!!.

Yeah, and everything was so great with 6 years of a Republican President working with a Republican Congress. Rose colored glasses anyone?

This is part of why I want ALL incumbants to lose their jobs. It's the only weapon we have left.

Well DEOP if you want to break it down check your stats as to when the housing market bubble popped or when gas prices really started to jump up.You seem to forget the qoute"I am the mostpowerful women in the world" Nancy Pelosi said with this new democratic control of the House and Senate we will keep big government and spending in check when all they have really done is make America weak in the eyes of the world with their cut and run attitude, stalling on all fronts just to make the other party look bad.If you are outside looking in you get the sense of kids on a playground bullying to be the alpha dog instead of WE THE PEOPLE first.I have already stated many times I do not care for either candidate we have to choose from for the most powerful postion in the world but if you even think Obama can CHANGE our world situation by having tea and cookies with ruthless dictators I certainly hope your vote is not the deciding one.His energy policy is great,we can not drill anywhere for releif from the OPECKERS until alternatives are found but we can sit on our hands until the Serria Club figures it out for us.Have you checked on the low income housing project he decided to take on with his buddies that he gave federal grants to so they could donate to his presidental,OH sorry thats right some of them are in jail or on trail....anyway his project is one of the biggest slums around.Do not think we need him controling the most powerful country in the world.

It makes me wonder whom exactly our government is listening to cuz it sure doesn't appear to be WeThePeople.

imho, the Dems have left no doubt they are as corrupt as the GOP. That leaves WeThePeople on the wrong end of the stick.

What we do about it when that reality sinks in remains to be seen.

Or, will we be too busy quibbling over which 'side' is worse to see that both sides appear to be working together towards a goal that doesn't seem beneficial to we taxpayers one bit? Once again I ask just who is Congress listening to?

shorty62 - first off I'm certainly not defending the incompetent Democrat Congress. But to blame everything on them or on the leftists is an example of wearing political blinders.
You said see "when the housing market bubble popped". Exactly, a bubble that was going to pop no matter who was in office. Blaming this on the Dem Congress is as lame as how the next President (either of the terrible 2) will be blamed for the high inflation that will hit after the government runs out of the temporary band-aid fixes.
As for the price of gas, yep it has zoomed up. Just as it zoomed up from $1.40 when bush took office to $2.33 in 01/07. This 66% increase is when gas "really started to jump up". Then to push the increase along, here are a few excerpts:

Through a convenient regulation exception granted by the Bush Administration in January 2006, the ICE Futures trading of US energy futures is not regulated by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, even though the ICE Futures US oil contracts are traded in ICE affiliates in the USA.

In January 2006, the Bush Administration’s CFTC permitted the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the leading operator of electronic energy exchanges, to use its trading terminals in the United States for the trading of US crude oil futures on the ICE futures exchange in London – called “ICE Futures.”

Persons within the United States seeking to trade key US energy commodities – US crude oil, gasoline, and heating oil futures – are able to avoid all US market oversight or reporting requirements by routing their trades through the ICE Futures exchange in London instead of the NYMEX in New York.
Is that not elegant? The US Government energy futures regulator, CFTC opened the way to the present unregulated and highly opaque oil futures speculation. It may just be coincidence that the present CEO of NYMEX, James Newsome, who also sits on the Dubai Exchange, is a former chairman of the US CFTC. In Washington doors revolve quite smoothly between private and public posts.
In January 2006 when the CFTC allowed the ICE Futures the gaping exception, oil prices were trading in the range of $59-60 a barrel. Today some two years later we see prices tapping $120 and trend upwards

Hilariously, the bushits are already showing that "The Buck Stops Here", to them meaningless since 2001, will suddenly be as important as it was from 1993 to 2000 if Obama is elected. The rose colored glasses will be out of style, for awhile anyway.

It is time to end the petty bickering in support of two political parties that are incapable of anything save their boundless lust for power, wealth and total autonomy! This country has erroded from a democratic republic to an aristocratic feudal state. The certain sign of this can be found in the hopeless despair expressed by its vassals ["we the tax payers"].

What to do? End all previous political party affiliations and support; register Inependent; "write-in" your vote (your favorite); make your grievances known to all Federal and State representatives. Short of the above, just do nothing but for heavens sake...stop your bitching!!!
