Denver Police Officer Abbe Dorn hit the news for some sexy poses in skimpy clothing and acrylic platform shoes.  She might even be in trouble with The Department because of a policy, but I really have to wonder what is so different between Abbe's soft porn and the annual fund-raiser calendars featuring firefighters with oiled chests and pants unzipped to just above the danger zone?  Hell yeah I envy her but I wouldn't make a bigger deal than it is out of the pix.  She's a hot chick showing off.  Don't we all wish it were us?

She's a police officer and as someone who pays her salary with my taxes I expect her and any other police officer to represent the Denver Police Force with respect and dignity.

As for the firefighters...the same applies. If anything, all look like fools. Give me a break. Put your clothes on and do your job. No one at my work wants to see me unclothed either.

I don't want kids thinking they can grow up to be a police officer and have a staple through their navel in a centerfold.

I look good too, but my self-esteem doesn't need the stroking these idiots seem to require.

Well, I'm too old for this nonsense now, but I was a good looking young woman 20 years ago. I was working at the old Duffy's Tavern when I was 21 and dirt poor, living in Five Points, and trying to save some $$$. A customer offered me big bucks to "model" for him, and he always tipped big and drove a Benz and was a buddy of the owners, so I knew he had the cash, and some of the other girls did some pics for him. Maybe I'm stupid, but I wasn't raised that way, and my self-esteem meant more to me than the money. He pursued me, and the bar glass striking him in the forehead ended my career there. I just can't respect this, and I don't think people who do this stuff respect themselves, either. It embarrasses me for them.

Yeah, I agree with Hollywood. You also have let the MTV and TMZ world warped your clear view of social and professional accountability. A police officer who strips may also compromise herself in other possible situations. Doesn't take a genius to figure that one out. If she wants to be a porn star and believe it will give her the self esteem then quit the force and do it! Obviously, being a service to law biding citizens did not do it for her. She will eventually compromise herself with criminals anyway, if she remains on the force. Sooner or later ,she will slip. Taking off one's clothes so the public can see ,is one example of an officer who might be a liability to the force. A good criminal will, eventually, always take advantage of this type of officer........

Geez it's a prude parade. My point is this: why the outcry when a WOMAN goes out and flashes her assets, but not when it's the men doing the same thing? I think some jealous woman instigated the outcry. We're awful that way, you know.

Now for some repartee:

Drerunner: bunk. Sez who? Criminals take advantage of weak minds; being a prude doesn't preclude being a dimwit - ahem. It's a Moses mile to equate having posed for sexy pictures with a propensity for criminal activity or self esteem issues (love how we've come to toss out that term when someone's actions don't fit in a narrow mold). It wasn't so long ago that a skirt above the ankles was considered a sure sign of evil; hasn't time proved that wrong! Same for short hair on women. How about the notion that no good man leaves the house without his hat (not cap) and a good coat?

Hollywood, being a public employee doesn't curtail anyone's first amendment rights. The pic itself is being taken far too seriously. It's nothing and will blow over by next week. Scroll up for the real issue!

Raysmom, good job with the bar glass. That guy was transparent and that was a different situation I think.

Scribe2- do you get most of your information via MTV and reality t.v. shows? Your way of thinking reminds me of an 17 year old hip hopper. " uh, what's the problem dude'', "why you hating"? She is a POLICE OFFICER sir! What is it about this you don't understand? Public figures have to sacrifice those things we might ,ourselves, can do, because of the moral compass they must enforce. If we didn't have those people willing to do that, it would be total chaos sir! She being a police office ,would make it very easy for a criminal to use this sort of thing as a tool for more greater criminal acts. I could thing of numerous situation that would be illegal and because she wants this type of "take my clothes off " world so badly, it would be easy to get her into "soft porn" then maybe eventually "hard porn". With that comes drugs. her compromising "police sensitive information and the other boot leg stuff this world can offer. You obviously don't get out much, do you scribe2???? Sure criminals taker advantage of the weak ,but as an officer of the law ,she must never let a criminal take advantage of her. Hey, like I said, if she wants to do it ,quit the force. Simple! Kids have to have someone to look up to besides your MTV heroes!

Please...the Pope has a job and so does the President. Can they be photographed with little clothing on? Yes, but they wouldn't be in those positions for long. She's now a pig in the real sense.

By the way Scribe, I'm assuming your a male and not being subjective to the real issue. Would be be saying something different if your child's third grade teacher who is a dude was in a gay magazine? It's the same thing, just a different cover.

I wish I could swear on here. Nothing like a good f-bomb to make a punctuation. BTW....did you all know you can be charged with disturbing the peace if you say the f-work in public? I was informed of that when I was pushed by an angry dog owner who chose to break the law and not leash his dog. And I, the law abiding citizen who leashes his two small chi's have no right to be angry when my dog almost becomes lunch for yuppie dog.

Lesson in Figure competition:

Clear Platform shoes= STANDARD

Model Photos= STANDARD

Photo source= FROM A RESPECTED FITNESS MODEL website

FACT= She did not pose in uniform, nor did she represent the city in any way through that picture.

FACT= The truth means not only telling the story correctly, but it also means TELLING THE ENTIRE STORY.

FACT= You do NOT have the entire story.

FACT= Almost all fitness models are professionals in YOUR city (gasp!)

FACT= Arnold Schwarrzenegger was a physique competitor, is a state official, has plenty of physique shots, and holds a PRESTIGIOUS EVENT EVERY YEAR THAT INCLUDES FIGURE COMPETITORS; these are competitors who have similar photo shots. The shots are used to show physique, camera personality, etc., to achieve sponsorship opportunities and promotion.

FACT= Figure competition is a PRO sport. Porn, stripping, and whatever else you choose to compare this to are NOT.

FACT= You have NOT received ALL of the information to make these judgements. You have, quite frankly, been duped by the news media. Congratulations.

Your ignorance is backed up by your statement. Funny, because you seem to take facts easily if they come from a news website or talking head.

You seriously need a picture of Arnold or an example of a police uniform? Wow.

If you are saying that the girl in the photo that was provided by the news media showing a women with her A## up in the air "is not" this officer and that's "a fact" then I stand corrected, sir. However, if it is her (with her behind in the air) then you are a complete idiot, because what we are saying is as an officer of the law ,it's inappropriate..idiot!

The minute this woman would be offered something based on the way she looks, more modeling, acting, she'd be on the first plane out of the police force. She's as transparent as her platform shoes.

It's a sad day when a female police office baring skins actually because something worthy to argue over. Most people get scandalized when women are seen in their bra's and panties, yet how is a bra and panty different then a bikini?

As to the police officer, does she simply stop living life like any other person because she is a police officer? Is she not allowed to do normal daily things when off the clock? Who are we to decide what is right or wrong for her actions? As it goes "Let you who be without sin cast the first stone"...
