On Good Day Colorado's new 9 a.m. hour you saw the story of Bill Inman riding his horse Blackie across America. He says he is traveling all the way from Oregon to Henderson, North Carolina to see the country on horseback...and bring a taste of the west to his in-laws!
You can chat with Bill right here on my blog. Send him a message or ask a question. You can also follow his journey by going to www.uncoveringamerica.com . He may not be able to answer right away, since he's pretty busy riding across the U.S...but he would love to hear from you. Click on the Good Day tab on our website to watch Bill's story.

I wanted to thank all of you who rise early to watch Good Day Colorado and send such amazing feedback to our website www.myfoxcolorado.com.
I will be continuing the discussion of our top stories each week as a guest on the radio....KBPI 106.7 FM (KBPI Rocks The Rockies). Every Thursday during the incredibly popular and long running Uncle Nasty Show I join producer Matt Need and the gang for in depth discussions about the week's hard hitting news stories. We get the discussion going between 3:30 p.m. and 5 pm.. When listeners call in the discussion gets pretty intense...and pretty heated. I present the facts and moderate while Nasty, Matt and the listeners have at it. We also feature special newsmakers as guests who are ready to take the heat.
So far we've discussed immigration reform, the Wheatridge flag controversy, Ward Churchill lawsuit, lower military recruitment standards, Boulder home size limits, sex abuse insurance for churches, and the Michael Vick pit bull fighting scandal..to name a few.
Watch Good Day Colorado and Fox 31 News at Nine O'Clock for follow ups on these stories by your favorite team of television reporters. Join our blog here at www.myfoxcolorado.com to share your opinions and don't be shy !
Talk to you soon

It's so nice to receive emails and calls from viewers who want to share their good will with people who need help getting to a point where they can make it on their own.
I believe we are all born with the ability to share the most abstract yet potentially powerful possession we have…our good will. In most cases, all many of us need is an outlet to do so. With that said, here is list of ten things you can do within the next 24 hours to make an impact that could change a life (human or animal). I will also be writing about these opportunities in my new column to be featured in Core Magazine.
1. Mentor a Student
Gang violence, poor academic scores, low college enrollment numbers and teen pregnancy are growing problems afflicting the generation of the future. You can make a difference by volunteering to let a young person know they are worth the time and effort. The Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives Program needs volunteers and donations. Call 800-ASK-GANG for information. You local school district may also offer mentoring programs that need your help.
2. Sign Up To Be an Organ Donor
It can be a lasting gift in your memory one day, or a living contribution should you decide. Fourteen hundred people in Colorado are waiting for a chance to see their kids grow up, enjoy small pleasures we take for granted, and pursue their lifelong dreams. They won’t do that, however, unless they receive an organ transplant. Blood and bone marrow are also severely needed. For information on blood and organ donation and Colorado’s Donor Registry, you can go to www.bonfils.org, www.donoralliance.org or the National Kidney Foundation for Colorado Montana and Wyoming website www.kidneycimw.org .
3. Donate Your Old Cell Phone to Support SafeHouse Denver
Did you know that your old cell phone can be donated to help victims of domestic abuse in the case of an emergency? SafeHouse Denver serves victims of domestic violence and their children through both an emergency shelter and non-residential counseling. All of the women and children who come to SafeHouse Denver have access to a full range of bilingual programming, including individual counseling, group sessions, advocacy and safety planning. Go to www.safehouse-denver.org for more information.
4. Pick Up a 2007 Firefighters Calendar
Ladies (and men too), there is another way to help kids in Colorado. You can pick up the 2008 Colorado Firefighter Calendar. I will get yet another opportunity to judge the competition (I know, poor me) as scores of brave firefighters battled it out for a spot in the calendar. Our firefighters really put it on the line for us everyday on their jobs, and still work tirelessly to help kids in the Children’s Hospital Burn Program. All proceeds from the calendar support the Fired Up For Kids Program. You can go to www.firedupforkids.org for information on how to get a calendar. By the way, I think Manny (Mr. December) is my favorite!
5. Support The Children’s Hospital
The Children’s Hospital is respected as one of the best children’s healthcare facilities in the nation, but support from the public is crucial in helping thousands of kids get through traumatic experiences that affect their entire family. To lift a child’s spirit through volunteering or supporting upcoming charity events go to www.thechildrenshospital.org .
6. Donate or Volunteer to Support the Dumb Friends League
The Dumb Friends League shelters and finds homes for thousands of animals (dogs, cats, gerbils, you name it) who would otherwise perish from a lack of care or being simply forgotten. They also provide veterinary services and even training for members of our “inter-species family”. There are great opportunities to volunteer or donate at www.ddfl.org . You can also go to www.nacer.org to support programs that fight animal overpopulation and abuse in Mexico.
7. Donate Blankets, Towels, Furniture or Your Time to Lost and Found, Inc.
It’s a horrible thought, teenagers with no hope for the future. This is a reality for thousands of kids from all walks of life due to the proliferation of hard core drugs like heroin. Dope dealers are setting their sights on school campuses in neighborhoods across Colorado. Organizations like Lost and Found, Inc. help teens and their families heal from the effects of drug abuse. They also shelter and care for hundreds of teens who are left without homes and waiting for adoptive families. The kids needs all sorts of things from clothing and blankets to furniture. You can go to www.lostandfound.org to learn more about how to help out.
8. Donate or Volunteer to Support the American Red Cross
Forty-five percent of home and apartment fires happen during cold weather months. You may notice on our newscasts that when families are displaced by fire, the American Red Cross is on the scene along with the fire crews to make sure victims have food and a warm place to stay. They do an incredible job, but still need financial donations and volunteers to keep up with the growing need. You can go to www.denver-redcross.org for information about how to help out.
9. Help Abused kids by Supporting the Real Love project
Local doctors started this charity campaign to raise money to help abused kids. You can go to www.kempecenter.org for more information on how to support kids who need to know someone cares out there.
10. Donate Your Old Car or Truck to Charity
A number of charities will take your unwanted vehicle and use it to provide transportation for programs that help children and adults in need. Go to www.carshelpingcharities.com for more information.
Unfortunately, many wonderful organizations report a lapse in donations during the summer and fall. Since the needs of homeless and hungry kids, victims of violence, abused animals and thousands of others is a year round thing, I thought I would share with you ways to lend a helping hand now if you would like to “share the love”.

There's so much going on in Denver, especially parties and social events that support charities in Colorado.
Check out my photos section and click on the social scene album to see pictures from this year's World's Largest Office Party to benefit Special Olympics. Hit the slide show and scroll up for captions.
Hundreds turned out at the Tech Center Hyatt Regency. The evening featured fabulous food, two wonderful bands and celebrity bartenders from Denver's TV media. Several yummy firefighters featured in the hot 2006 calendar were auctioned off in awesome "date" packages. Packages include trips to beautiful Colorado resorts on the Ski Train and an evening of wine tastings complete with limo & driver.
A date with me was auctioned off as well...a big "thank you" to the kind and generous gentlemen who kept the bidding going.

Yes....
For the third year in a row I ended up in tears in the Six Flags/Elitch "Brutal Planet" scare house Saturday night.
This is so realistic that at one point I had to shut my eyes and just block it all out. I was so "miserable" that it was the MOST FUN I've ever had!
My advice: hit the "Brutal Planet" and "Scream" scare houses first then IMMEDIATELY get on the "Mind Eraser" rollercoaster while your adrenaline is still high.
We had a wonderful time, especially when it started raining just as we were smothering some of the park’s excellent corn dogs with tons of mustard.
Have fun!

YEAH !!!!!!!!
My favorite time of the fall season...time for Six Flags Elitch Gardens Fright Fest.
I must say their adult haunted houses are the scariest and most realistic I've ever been to (I was so scared I cried last year..how embarrassing).
This year my dog Sybil and I are judging the pet costume contest there on Saturday October 14th. I need some ideas on how to dress Sybil. She is black with white feet and pretty small..about terrier size.
If anyone out there has any ideas, email me at shaul.turner@foxtv.com or just blog me back.
Thanks!!!

Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital enhances the lives of thousands of animals in Colorado with the latest techniques and technology in veterinary medicine.

Denver's Talent Challenge (Bombshell Productions) was a real hit!
As a guest emcee, I really loved getting a chance to say hi to so many Good Day Colorado viewers. Make sure to click on my photos (in the box on this page) to see some great pictures of some of the contestants. The sold out crowd saw 25 of Colorado's finest performers take the stage. The band "Velocity Rocks" won the competition and will receive a professionally produced demo among other prizes. It's amazing that the band performs seamless covers of classic rock hits from the '70's, considering the oldest band member is thirteen years old !
R&B singer Bianca Seabreeze took first place with a beautiful ballad about the teen experience in today's world. Second place went to the dynamic "Championship Karate Extreme Demo Team". Talk about "no fear"! They did flips on stage that had to be six feet in the air. At ten years of age, Tyler Weaver Jr. is the youngest in history to win the ESPN Karate U.S. Open.
There were also excellent comedians like Dimitri Vavelle, who is a regular at the Comedy Works, and wonderful Country singers/songwriters like Ron Miles and the band "Double Down".
The judges included Larry Sims (Loggins & Messina), who has a Grammy Award and twelve Gold and Platinum albums under his belt. Actress Elise Harp appears in the films "Sweet Home Alabama", "Dumb and Dumberer" and "The Fighting Temptations" as well as music videos for Jermaine Dupree and The Backstreet Boys. Also judging,16 year old actor Matthew Helms. He has appeared in "The Patriot" and "Cabin Fever" (as the "pancakes!" kid).
In all, it was a wonderful night and I wish everyone who had the talent and the bravery to take the stage the best of luck in hitting the big time!

Following the hit Fox show "Celebrity Duets" is so much fun because we get to see what even celebrities go through when put on the spot trying to learn how to sing!
I got a chance to talk to the lovely Marie Osmond about her experience on the show as a judge and what it's REALLY like to sit by Little Richard as he carries out his hilarious antics. Marie also told me about why she feels it is so important to offer contestants positive feedback and criticism no matter how famous they are.
You can click on the "Seen On TV" section on the myfoxcolorado.com homepage to watch my entire interview with Marie Osmond and get the behind the scenes scoop on "Celebrity Duets".
Have fun!

As we've seen with our showing in former American Idol tryouts, Colorado has an incredible amount of talent. Whether it's singing, dancing, rapping or being a comedian, our state hosts a diverse culture of talented people of all ages.
I invite you to join me at the "2006 Talent Challenge" to be held on Saturday, September 30th at Red and Jerry's Entertainment Complex located on Santa Fe and Oxford Street. The competition will showcase more than 25 acts as they compete for a chance at the big time. Judges include members of Loggins and Messina, The Sunshine Company and actress Elisa Harp.
We'll have plenty of pictures here on our website and I'll announce the winner on Monday.
Hope to see you !
