Not only to I think that the idea was awsome but I applaud those people who were willing to put themselves out there to bring awareness to the environmental issue of over packaging and waste generated by consumerism.
Hooray... I'd do it too but I'm afraid I haven't got the body for it and well quite frankly I don't want to scare people into more packaging not less.
Lets get naked!!!

In reading my title you will notice that I used D-E-E-R as opposed to D-E-A-R. I used this spelling to address more than just the MH proposed developement. I also want to address the Deer issue in Town and Country. Now as my title states Urban Sprawl affects our natural resources. It displaces native species in order for the human race to expand. Sometimes the expansion is just for expansions sake and not for any justifiable reason. Other times that expansion is to afford humanity the luxury of space to breathe. As is the case in Town & Country.
The problem here is that over the last several years Deer have been becoming a "nucence" and are pushing the "safety limits" for the people that live in the area. One proposal has been to cull the herd through limited hunting by "sharp shooters" or Bow hunters. Of course I can not argue the logic behind this proposal because I have examined the contributing factors and unfortunately human intervention is our only option. However with that said I have heard nothing reported concerning the implanmentation of such a plan. As Town & Country is such a highly populated area I find it hard to believe that they will open the area to everyday joes to go plink off a couple of rogue deer. So armed with common sense I surmise that Town and Country will enlist the help of specialists to help thin the herd. So my question is How does T&C propose to handle the quantities of Meat that I am sure will begin to pile up. What will happen to the hides? The Antlers? I would like to see or hear this portion of the plan. T&C has a responsibility to see that their actions are beneficial to the whole of society and should not undertake any action with out first considering all the effects any single action may have on society and nature. Let me be clear. I support the culling of the herd with the express condition that the city of Town & Country does so in a environmentaly responsible way and does not allow waste or individual excess. The problem is a community problem the solution should be one as well.
Maryland Heights-- Changing the zoning of the area near Creve Cour lake from a "Non-urban" classification to a "mixed-use" classification is a bad idea. I will not mince words the destruction of the flood plain and removal of farm land for the express purpose of economic gain is wrong. Many people will and have pointed out that there are many business spaces that currently sit vacant within the Maryland Heights City limits. I feel as they do that these locations need to be filled before others are built. Then and only then should the city consider expanding its space for income generation. When the conditions have been met that qualify the city for expansion environmental impact studies should be done to asses the impact a development will have on the surrounding ecology and the people in the area. If there will be no adverse effects to all areas then and only then should the city grant a proposal for re-zoning.

For months now I have been posting blogs that point out some aspects of humanity that I notice throughout my daily life. Most of what I Post about is politicaly driven some is economic based but all of what I post deals directly with the human condition. I deal with society and the injustices that I see daily. I often draw abuse from my readers in the form of name calling and sometimes I get told where I should go. Well I am back to incite the name callers again. But this time I am pretty sure that I will draw more than just the regulars comments.
I want to address an aspect of humanity that I choose to leave out of most arguements or debates in an effort to remain unbiased and open minded.
I hear alot of people throw around statements of religion as if it is a catch-all excuse for what they're about to say or do that they know is wrong. As if saying that you are a ___________(fill in the blank) gives you reason to think or behave a specific way that is not consistant with your own religious convictions. We as humans need to overcome the premise that our individual religion is better that anothers. Or that because we are __________(once again fill in the blank) we are entitled to speak or do evil on an occasion because our religion requires it to spread the faith. Case in Point, Muslim Jihadists who fight the "infidels" in order to spread islam. However these people are not the only ones who do evil in the name of their God. Christians, Catholics (who by the way are Christians by definition) and Jews (who are not christians) and every other religion have at some time in their history have been guilty of attrocites commited against others in the name of their God.
My question is where do you Get off thinking that you are better than another or that you need not be concerned with your neighbors goings on or the plight of a refugee half way around the world simply because you are an American and yet you profess your Religious status as if you are proud to _____________ for what ever reason. Do you live your life as wholey as you can? Do you live it Holy? Are you truely living the religious life you claim? I think not.
Fighting for your own "rights" and to get what you can for you is not what your "God" wants. Believing that you are above another or that you deserve more than another because you work harder than them is not What your "God" wants. Claim not the belief in a God of peace and love when you spew hatred and self adoration from your lips. You are the same as any other living creature on this earth. You have only one thing that seperates you from the Animal kingdom. That one thing is the ablility to decern from right and wrong. Does that make you above the animals or your fellow human being? No. Yet you use religion as the pinnacle of your existance and the great elevator for your rise to self importance. You can not continue to claim your individual superiority when mankind is itself in need of help. There are those displaced by flood, famine, war. There are those in prisons, hospitals and asylums that need your help. If you claim a religion you must also take responsibilty for those around you. Not just yourself or your family but every living being you meet. I used to be "Catholic" I have come to realize that religion is just another area of control that others have over us. And that if I live for my fellow man it won't make much difference if there is or is not a "God" because in my deeds I will either secure a spot in Heaven or a spot in history. In either case my eternal life will be guarenteed. Get off your religious high horse and work for the betterment of mankind not just your own bottom line.
Call me communist, Call me Heathen, Call me what every you choose I will harbor no ill will. But when the call for help comes in I expect each and every person who relies on the statement that " I am a _________" to rise to the occassion and put forward your best foot and help your fellow man. Extreme Home Makeover is coming to St. Louis in Sept. Maybe it's time for you to live up to your religious convictions. For bubba, right moves and the various others who will suggest that maybe I should vollunteer. (too late I already have. I should know my date in the next few days)

In watching the opening ceremonies I felt a sense of something great was happening. I watched as the Chinese flag was raised and I saw a whole nation stand and sing their national anthem. There was Pride in their faces and joy in their voice. The Chinese were opening their country to the world and they were proud. Proud of their long history, proud of their accomplishments and proud to be given the chance to show the world that not everything we have come to believe about them is completely factual. I watched as 2008 people moved in unison to put on a drum show unlike anything the world has ever seen. I watched as Printing Blocks rose and fell in elaborate patterns while the operators were in complete darkness and recieved no visual cues to perform their part. I was amazed at the unity. I watched as the Worlds Athletes entered the arena floor and as Our own President did not show emotion except when his own country entered. I watched as Yao Ming strode proudly into the arena the Chinese Flag held High above his head. Yao Ming who came to the United States to play basketball, who has enjoyed all the United States has to offer and who still chose to Raise his country's Flag higher than any other as he joined his country's olympic team in friendly compatition with the rest of the world. He wasn't forced, he wasn't threatend, He Wanted to. He wanted to...
I wonder, what things will we see, will we learn, that goes against everything we as Americans have come to believe about China and about ourselves over the last 70 yrs. I am sure that many will say nothing but when you keep an open mind a world of wonder opens up for you. I hope everyone will try to see something positive in the Olympic host country.

Conservative arguements against liberal "utopia":
1: The rich pay 40% of the income tax collected by the governent but only make up the top 1% of the population. -- Though this is true it does not portray the financial strain that is placed on the individual who pays the tax. Being a part of the Elite 1% those who pay the income taxes feel very little financial strain. Where as the bottom1% of the "Tax paying" population feel severe economic strain because their payments are equal to the payments of the top 1%. This is not to say that the bottom one percent pay the same amount as the top 1% but they pay the same percentage. 23% of 1 dollar leaves 73 cents in any case no matter how you cut it. But when you have 100 million that leaves a hell of a lot of cabbage to feed your bunnies. try feeding those bunnies on the money left after paying taxes on 20,000. Oh just so you don't have to do the math. 14,600. Rent for the average home 700-1200 a month X 12 = 8400-14,400 in rent, Utilities and medical take whats left and the bunnies go hungry..
2. People have the right to pursue their own happiness and their own "slice of the american dream"-- True, People are masters of their own destiny and as such have the right to work for equality and recognition in society. There are those who work harder than others but are kept in their station of subserviance by those above them because of fear or greed. Your arguement that right choice and hard work will get you what you want only rings true when those in power relinquish that power for the good of all people. What you suggest is not possible in the current state of our society.
3. Socialized Healthcare or Schools will lesson the quality of the schools and Healthcare over all.-- The interesting point in this arguement is that it is always the same statement to support the claim. "If the schools are'nt good enough send the child to a private school" or "Cuba has socialized health care and it takes months to get in to the doctor." Never has one come up with a viable arguement to show just cause for not socializing these programs. What is used to argue the topic is irrational fear and a sense of entitlement from those who have had to pay for their health care or school. The arguement is one of "It's not fair that others get to have free (fill in the blank) when I have paid all my life for the same thing." This shows that those who would fight against the conversion are not concerned with society but rather themselves and therefore clearly demonstrate that Greed is the working force in their lives. No substancial logic has been used to argue against this posible conversion.
4. (I love this one) If we were to equaly divide the products of our labors no one would want to work as hard because they wouldn't have incentive to do so. Why work to give someone else what I work for.--- First let me address the incentive and progress side of this arguement. Those who believe that we would no longer advance have little faith in the nature of mankind. The simple fact is that if we were to eliminate th barriers associated with production and cooperation greater strides could be made in areas of technology, medicine and general science. Production would become more efficient because we would be making what was needed not what was anticipated for profit. People would work to advance these things in order make a more comfortable life for themselves and others regardless of economics. Where as right now economics restrict the introduction of good ideas or benificial items because those with them are looking for more money for their Idea rather than trying to benefit everyone. Some people can't bring those ideas to the public because that in itself requires money which they don't have. The second thing I want to address is the why work attitude that people adopt. Those who don't work now are those who are in need of our help anyway they are the ones who have illness or other problems that prohibit them from getting along in society to the extent that they can contribute in a manor that others do. These people drain the resources of the community already it's not like they can make things worse. If you are saying that lazy people will be lazy if we began to share the results of our efforts when they aren't now I can only ask how you know. Is it because those who are argueing this side are lazy and only want to sit back but have not been given the opportunity because we as a society demand that each individual work to be better than the other in order to enjoy an abundance of wealth?... If I take away your wealth I take away your desire to work? Are you lazy? I think that those who argue this issue with the positions I mentioned are really just simply trying to hide the fear that they will not be better than another. I need proof to conceed to you that you are right, SHOW ME!
5. Last. We want less government not more--- I can only say 1 thing to this arguement. SO DO I. And a Democratic Rule by the people of the people and for the people is the only way we will see a reduction of Government. Right now our govenment regulates technology and medicine they pass laws to ban beneficial plants while allowing others that have no decernable benefit. Our government subsidizes technologies that are failed or failing while suppressing the advancement of others. Our government grants the rights of a human being to corporations while restricting the rights real humans. Corporations are AMORAL, humans are Moral governed by natural laws and a conscience. If you really want less govenment socialization is the way to get it.
