Each year as they pass I grow more appreciative of this Holiday. I am proud of those who serve, have served, and will in the future serve. I have some pic's from the past and I hope you will enjoy seeing them again

I was going to leave off the last three Pic's but I cherrish them most and felt they needed to be here

Thanks dogcop, but if Obama yanks us out of Iraq before we wrap it up, there will be a whole new generation of Vets left in the cold.

THANK YOU TO ALL.

Your off base Jax. This is a Tribute, Honor & Thank You blog to our Vets. It should stay as such. Leave the political views for another.

Longsnot, You are absolutely right. I got of track from listening to some political retoric today that pissed me off. I also am a Vet so cut me a little slack, But I was wrong..

You weren't wrong Jax. We VETERANS need the help and support of other veterans of this country, and we need to offer all our undying support and help for the new regime of VETS who will find themselves handicapped by NOBAMA'S rule of thumb.

To all my Vietnam bro's, GOD SPEED and LOVE.

To LONGSNOT who didn't serve, don't tell a VET not to care about the welfare of other VETS!!!

Tall. You are always so thoughtful. Amen, and I also extend my gratitude to the men and women who serve so I can stay safely and peacefully at home. Same goes to By-byeMi, Jax,midevil,Seedub and the many other blogger-vets. I don't think war is the way to solve problems. But, war is as old as mankind. I am indebted forever to veterans! And especially on this subject, Jax YOU HAVE EARNED THE RIGHT to express your INFORMED opinion . Even if it's critical of our president elect. And even if it is political. I am an Obama supporter. But he still has to be held accountable to ALL Americans. More power to democracy ! Tall you are the Best.

Great blog tall. That is the greatest sacrifice someone can make. I only wish those still wearing the uniform were recognized in real, tangible ways, not just mere recognition once a year. Given this is the greatest sacrifice, why not make sure that those who come home maimed are taken care of, medically and financially. Not just officers who get pensions, either. Soldiers need to be paid well, during service and after. Just my thoughts.

This is a time to Honer not fight Mid We have plenty of post's on to fight about. I never served, I didn't even register. They stopped it before I turned 18 and started it 3 year's later. I wish now that I had signed up but it's to late and as it turned out I doubt I ever could have served.

I've thought about this post through the night and I need to revise a comment. When I made my comment about leaving Iraq before victory I WAS honoring our Vets, my brothers and sisters. I'll explain as briefly as I can because I still don't talk about much.

I was experienced war from both sides. My father was a Lt. Commander on a destroyer at Normandy and later in the war lost his leg in battle. When Vietnam came my older brother went conscientious objector. He said it was for moral reasons, I think he was scared because of my father's injuries. I joined because I was going to be drafted anyway and wouldn't run. I was very proud of my father and maybe secretly wanted him to be proud of me. Also I was a young, invincible, smartass.

Now what I meant by seeing war from both sides is to this day my brother and I have no relationship because of our views on war. He reminds me of a Longshot.

When I came home I was so disillusioned by my country and the fact that no one cared about what I'd done and what I'd seen that I felt like a criminal. I didn't actually come home to live until 1979 and that still wasn't in Detroit or anywhere near my brother. That period of my life gives me the express right to not want our Iraq Vets to have to come home and yet not come home. Veterans Day may not have been the correct forum but dammit I have a right to wish the best for our Vets and pray they don't have to walk the road I did.

I tried to enlist in the Navy at the Downtown Detroit AFEES building; They told me because of my eyesight (15-5), I wasn't eligible. I'm fairly certain the Army would have given me a pair of glasses! LOL. Very respectful post & forum, Tall.

Jax,

I understand am I am sorry for your losses. It was one of the worst displays of people who wanted the War over when they did thing's againt's the young Men and Women who served. I don't know that we American's can ever make up for your vetran's not be thanked. I can only think what your going through might be like the pain the civil war family's felt.

I am an American Indian. I developed Muscular Dystrophy in 2001 at the ripe old age of 44. I spend my days mostly on line and with my Ex-wife, and kids. I guess you could say I'm a Democrat but I am most interested in what any candidate can do to improve the world in which we live. I know I really spell poorly but I take solace in the fact that neither could Einstein. LOL
