In these times of doom & gloom its all too easy to pick on Prez. Bush. Always the optimist, I have been racking my brain the past few days looking for anything in this country that has gotten better during Dubya's time in office. Now is the time to shine for you loyal Repubs. Please share with us any and all ways the good old US of A has benefited from having Bush.

Maybe I should have been a bit more specific. Special interest such as Big Oil, Big Pharma, defense contractors, repo men, credit counselors & post-bubble real estate speculators don't count.

Well, expect the chirping of crickets and a few tumbleweeds blowing through the scene on this one. If you're not among the wealthiest, a lobbyist or one of the special interests you named, nothing has gotten better under Bush.

Patriot Act brought the end of Union protection for govt. workers and forced them to actually earn their checks..

FISA has FINALLY had an update and we can stop trying to hobble intelligence while at the same time complain about intel problems...

Have only seen ONE attack on Americans here and overseas as opposed to previous administration with nine.

Dispite greed and crooked lenders, Housing as a whole is at a all time record for homeowners in this country!

Largest area of ocean off the coast of Hawaii was declared a national wildlife refuge by Bush.

Lybia is no longer a terrorist nation, over 12 million were liberated in Iraq, we actually did what we were supposed to do in 93 just 10 years too late...

We have broken new ground in stem cell research because of Bush, dispite the propanda on embryotic stem cells that have yet to get anywhere.

I dont know about you, but I enjoy my lower taxes!

America's reputation and respect has FINALLY been restored in the world, and the ONLY ones that don't like it are the anti-war cowards and crooked members of the UN!

We actually stopped the vaccine shortages that Hillary Clinton gave us, and now have more affordable drugs for seniors, instead of just talking about it for years.

Just a few off the top of my head... I can dig more up, but its not like you would find it in the mainstream media anywhere. Just like all the Iraq stories we never hear about daily anymore...

Oldvamp,
I am not a Clinton fan but it did seem nice having a surplus...and I would take dealing with Oval Office BJ's over wars any day.

Abunia,
I learned something today! The Patriot Act did have 1 positive aspect I guess. Just be careful what you say in your emails.
I have to defer to you on FISA. If he improved foriegn intel thats great.
Not to sure how much I would brag about the housing market right now even though the problems are not IMO from Bush.
Only 1 attack but it was a big one!!! Maybe there is something to be said for the "fight them over there" distraction method of dealing with terrorist. Unless of course you are one of the Americans doing the fighting (and dying).
I just hope there is no oil of the Hawaiian coast.
Lybia? Gaddafi? Is that old camel turd still alive? I thought old Uncle Ronnie taught him a lesson when he sent some Sidewinders into his tent. And Iraq...I won't even go there.
Stem cells. The "new ground" is broken in spite of, not because of Bush. Embryotic has yet to pan out because it does requires research. For you or anyone else to say that it will not yield anything is very premature to say the least. Really though it might not be a bad idea not to spend the $$$ on it. Lets just wait for the Koreans, British, German, ect... researchers to make the break-thrus then we can copy their technology like they have been doing to us all these years. Damn, that Dubayu is a forward thinker after all!
If it were up to me I would cut taxes even further and on the flip side I wou

As for our standing in the world have you been to Europe lately? Let me just say it ain't just the French that don't like us anymore. Not that it really matters that much though.
I really don't think you want to open up the whole flu vaccine fiasco, do you? And helping our seniors? Big Pharma loves Bush, and for good reason. I can buy drugs offline from overseas for 15% of what the going rate is here. Thats really looking out for Grandpa!!!

Whether or not this is true..it is my opinion. Yes we had a surplus during the Clinton rein, but could it be, because the republicans paved the way to that surplus, and the Clintons were riding the coat-tails so to speak? And what "good" exactly did Clinton bring to the American people? I seem to recall being attacked..many times, and the disgrace of his under-the-desk antics. And how about that healthcare issue?
Justa wondering........

Europe.. who cares... We already had a President that was so worried about being liked that he allowed us to be attacked over and over for it.

The hit on 9/11 Ironically was carried out by some of the very same folks that got away from Clinton's guys in 93, and worked around a system that was watching them, but because of disclosure requirements, OBL and others learned WHAT we were doing, and WHO we were watching!! Clinton on purpose sabatoged the human intel capeability!

Bush was the one that had to actually be man enough to reject Kyoto. Bush put federal funding into stemcell research and I invite you to Google all the breakthroughs of embryotic stem cells.. NONE! Its not the lack of money as you suggest either. Lets call that as it is, Women's rights and Abortion folks hate that Bush put embryotic cells off limits for their own reasons...

BTW- I still see alot of folks from all these nations that hate us so much trying to get into the U.S.A. Not many American trying to leave to go live in Europe are there...

Europe is fast becomming the next Islamic state as they allow immigrants to come in, but don't require them to assimulate into existing society. France after decades of trying to get the Catholic Church out of the school system, now can't get the radical muslim teachings out! Here in America, we don't play that game...

Perscription Drugs: While the program in place is not perfect, again... its better than sitting around and just talking about it for decades like Democrats have done. It takes a leader to "walk the walk" too. That also goes to national defense! The world now knows that when we say we are going to do something.. we do it, and if its not working out as planned, then a true leader takes the lumps, alters the course, and makes it better!

Far better cry than what Clinton ever did! At least the bad guys know we are NOT afraid to engage now, and blood spilled while tragic, we are NOT afraid! OBL called Clinton on his unwillingness to sacrafice and it emboldened them to attack more!

How many attacks happend while we gave all the terrorist their 4th ammendment rights? We have stopped at least 6 or 7 attempts since 9/11 (that we are allowed to know about) and no credit given! Instead we cry about it because Democrats don't like being shown where they were DEAD WRONG!

You may have listed the single biggest mistake about Iraq, besides going there to begin with. Planning....or lack there of, as in what to do after Saddam ie; Mission Accomplished. Saddam was the easy part. You would think Cheneys gang would be smarter than that. As for the embro stem cells I'm amazed that being a nursing student you would be so short sighted when it comes to research. We have been working on a cure for cancer for 100 years with not alot to show for it. Does that mean we quit trying? We are not far away from seeing replacement body parts grown in a lab, be it from stem cells, cloning, or some other blend of genetic engineering. Need a new liver? No problem! Got COPD and need new lungs? Done. Are you gonna be the one who tells a quad that he/she will have to wait for a cure because you are worried about the soul of a zygote who will never make it out of a petri dish anyway? Its stuff like this that turns people off to our american version of christanity.

....and as for those trying to get into the USA you are right. We still have things better than most. Though I have heard many Mexicans have left for home with the declining economy here. I guess thats one way to get rid of them! I guess I am the exception because my goal is to leave the US when I retire splitting time between Switzerland and the Seychelles.

Good old America hating Jim, always ready to give Hope and support to Al Qaeda ...like it or NOT Bush did not start a war with Iraq he finished one that was going on all along
As far as “stem cells”...what planet are you on ? Is there a law against stem cells research ? Has funding been cut ? Did “Bush” veto a bill that was passed by the people ? ...that would be three NO's in a row! But you expect the people to be ignorant enough as to believe that a vote by the public against making the “production for sale of human embryos” a constitutional right, was an attack on research and the Bush committed that attack...

ALL those examples you speak to come from NON-embryo stem cells. Being a nursing student means I know EXACLTY what is going on, and you are glazing over the fact that embryo research is not comming up with anything. I also understand the political game of grant money as well...

That zygote you speak to in alot of Americans is considered life. A newborn would not survive either if you left it just sitting either. Your petri dish defense to many is quite offensive, and illustrates a self-serving agenda.

American version of christanity? Only in America can you even make such a comment anyways..

As to the war the SINGLE BIGGEST MISTAKE was Clinton refusing to engage for 8 years, and allowing the problem to fester! Again, liberals took Gen.Frank's banner of "Mission Accomplished" and put a spin to it. It was even explained by him, and then libs had to let it go else just look stupid. Just as they had to let go the WMD issue after the media was unable to silence all the evidence that was pouring in.

Interesting that you take the stand on cancer and 100 years with not much to show for it, yet speak to continued research and work. How is it you can't apply just 10 years to our energy (oil) issues then?

You see.. this is what we get when liberals operate with NO CORE. All over the place, can't apply any principle position to more than one issue....

Yes that is the wonderful Mrs. TavaresJim featured on my avatar. I am truly blessed with a wonderful life. Lived in Tavares since 1975. It was a great place to grow up...now there are just too many people!!! 44yrs old, married for 23 years. 21yr old son & 14 yr old daughter. Business owner trying to live the American Dream. Kinda tough though with the idiots we have running things. My current favorite bumper sticker saying: "George Bush & Congress, bringing the 3rd world to your neighborhood". I follow no party lines when it comes to issues and I don't trust those that do. I like to make up my own mind about things.
