For months now, I've been telling you that our country's in deep doo-doo. I said the Iraq war tab, high gas prices and unemployment and poor home sales were going to send  our country into a tailspin.

Some of you said called me a whiny liberal. Some of you said it would all work out. Some of you said our country was fine.ir saI was a whinning At

Well, guess what? I was right. Banks are closing its doors! Banks! Wall Street is a mess. And have you seen the unemployment rates lately?

Things are serious, people.

Forget your politics. I don't care if you're a democrat, republican or independent. This country's in trouble and our elected leaders better figure it out - fast.

Bring it.

Avoidance and denial in our society is rampant. If the facts aren't what some people want to hear, they simply avoid or deny them. And of course the age of "attack politics" is running full steam ahead. We are headed for a "brick wall." But don't worry, the fundamentals of our economy are strong..........

Partisanship is an easy out for some people.

Do ya think drug dealers are still makin' a living? I think THEIR business is booming right now, because so many people are out of work, out of a a house, walking-the-dog, no car and SOL! Depressed doesn't come close to describing how it must feel to be destitute. Drug-induced escape would probably seem pretty good. Where have all the people gone, who used to live in all the houses that have been foreclosed on? Into apartments, where they're soon evicted, because without a job, they can't pay the rent, so they live in their car. Pretty soon, the "Repo Man" catches up with them, while they're showering at the YMCA, and there goes the rest of whatever they owned. Some might stay with family, if they have one. If not, then what? The shelters are full. The last number of homeless CHILDREN I heard of RIGHT HERE in Volusia County was somewhere around 1400. That's ludicrous! But "It" was all messed up LONG before GWB came into the picture, so don't go blaming HIM!

I'm not blaming Little George. But he sure didn't help matters.

War has a price. Both in terms of life and cash. And we've paid dearly on both fronts. Enough already!

Tom, Tom, Tom, you wacky liberal.

When I move to TN, I'm going to miss you.

But seriously, this crisis would have happened whether we went into Iraq or not, whether we drilled for our own oil or used Canadian/Mexican, no matter if we had 4% unemployment or 14%

We created two agencies called 'Freddie Mac' and 'Fannie Mae.' These two agencies, as semi-government agencies, were very susceptible to the will of Congress and to specific Congressmen such as Christopher Dodd and Barney Frank. Fannie Mae especially was run by hard-core partisan liberals Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson who created for themselves tens of millions of dollars in commissions by setting a policy of buying low value, high risk loans with only a 1:30 leverage.

That house of cards, my friend, was going to fall no matter what. In fact, the Bush administration tried TWELVE TIMES between 2003 and 2007 to sponsor legislation to restrict Fannie Mae's policies, and each time the cabal of Clinton, Kerry and Dodd in the Senate blocked passage of the legislation.

Barney Frank complained LAST YEAR that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae needed no further oversight.

What you would be frightened by, if you weren't SUCH a left-winger, is that the people who paved the way for this crisis and then mandated it by threatening federal probes and intervention if lending institutions didn't make a higher percentage of loans to lower-income borrowers are now the ones who are being put in charge to fix it.

Tell me, Tom - how does $140,000,000 to ACORN bail out even one mortgage, because that is what the Democrats

Grant me the LEGAL authority to round up corrupt lawyers, judges and politicians. Buy me a couple of spare barrels for my 45, and I'll dispatch each and every one of them, one round at a time. America will be a better place, Colt and Federal ammunition will have a bumper year, and I'd most likely be jubilant !

What banks?

Unemployment was 12% under Jimmie Carter, interest was 27%.

This is nothing.

What banks?

America's been living in denial, delusion and dysfunction for a long time. We have to change our ways, but seem to think spiraling greed, indulgence and greed can continue while we produce less here and borrow more from abroad. We need to get back to being a republic at home instead of trying to be an empire around the world.
