That's right.

According to a magazine article I read recently, when it comes to citizens registering to vote and actually participating in elections, out of the top 100 largest cities, Orlando ranks 82!

82nd!

For the record: Tampa ranked 50 and Miami 77.

Again, I ask, what does this city support? Not politics. Not sports. Not urban development.

What's it going to take for Orlando to rally around something? What should that something be? Why do you suppose so few Orlando residents take part in politics?

Bring it.

why because everything is about ME, unless it's hurting ME it doesn't matter, unless it affects MY money it doesn't matter, it's a ME thing. Secondary it's a ethnic thing many people here are from other countries such as haiti, Peuto rico, brazil, jamaca, and cuba, quite frankly they don't care who gets elected as long as they can have their ben&jerry's, and watch tv without being shot at. they didn't have to earn their freedom or hear stories of how our freedom was won.

I'm speculating that Orlando is pretty a tourist/service oreinted/transient, type place. As such, people (since the Dismal World invasion) don't really have "roots" here and consider someplace else "home".

Sailor has the idea , if you look to the population of O-town you will find 24% call Mexico home add to that another 4% who can not vote (if ID is checked) because of criminal convictions and a large transient “homeless population” and it is easy to see why Orlando fails to live up to a larger portion of its total population voting.
If you want to see a “rally” go to any welfare office or the Mexican embassy , they always draw huge crowds !

Orlando is a tourist city. If you ask anymore in my hometown about Orlando, the first thing that comes up is...well, actually oranges. Than Disney, than Sea World, than, oddly, retirement homes, and than Universal. Discussing politics to customers is bad business apparently.

Orlando, FL, population 213,223, is located in Florida's Orange county, about 77.4 miles from Tampa and 95.2 miles from Clearwater.

That tells me that nearly 10%(about 12,000) go out and vote and 90% of the people that blog here about politics don't vote.

MANY PEOPLE THINK THEIR POSTS ARE BEING DELETED
WHEN A BLOG OWNER IS MONITORING THEIR BLOG.
POSTERS DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE TIME DELAY THAT OCCURES
BECAUSE THE BLOG OWNER IS NOT HERE 24/7.

A SIMPLE MESSAGE DISPLAYED LIKE: "YOUR POST IS PENDING APPROVAL."
WOULD HELP STOP MANY DUPLICATE POSTS.

Seriously, you want to know what/who the city supports? Go to the welfare deepartment, social security office, or anywhere else people line up for the freebees.
Want to clear out more than half of these freeloaders, relocate an INS office downtown with a very large sign on all four sides and in a language other than English.

Not a place for gem lovers either.
No loose stones around here.

LOL! Former military, college and tourist town. Its a transient town. Snowbirds with dual residency.

BTW Tom.. last time I saw you on the news playing True/False on the election... WHAT SPIN! Nice of you to take HALF an issue and put the test to it, rather than its full context.

Maybe next time you can try something new.. Truth... the WHOLE truth... and nothing but the truth.. I heard that somewhere once...

Overxposed, great point. That's how TV news is too. What's in it for you? As for my hometown, Flint, it's a hole. But I would bet more people vote than those here in Orlando.
Truth Tests. My spin. Don't think so, Abunai. Despite what you think, I am not political. I invite you do check out my voting history. You'll be amazed.

Like the truth tests on the political ads Tom ! Who's the weasel that pops in and out on Grayson's ad about Keller's taxes ? Reminded me of a song : " Pop Goes the Weasel !" If I was younger, a red-neck, and had a crappy TV, I'd have probably dusted the weasel with my Super Blackkhawk !
