He outlined his plan to fight crime Tuesday night. His wife, val demmings laid out her plan some time ago. I guess things didn't go according to her plan. The numbers in Orange County aren't good.
Hey jerry and val, here's a thought:
Spare us the rhetoric. Just go out and do the jobs you were hired to do. The resultant crime statistics will speak far louder and far more eloquently than either of you can.

I thought it was a nice gesture. She can't use them anymore, and there are too many kids out there who won't get much this Christmas.
And, in a way, Caylee will achieve a tiny bit of immortality as her toys give pleasure to other kids.
It was a nice decision, whoever made it.

"According to a Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll conducted Dec. 9-10:
43% of Americans blame management and executives for the auto industry's plight;
15% blame labor unions.

Yup. Just heard it on FOX -- BK is coming out with a cologne that, I suppose smells like a Whopper (with cheese?). It's called "Flame".
I had to laugh out loud at this one!!
One word of caution to those of you who run out and buy this --
don't wear it around dogs!

... here's why:
Orange County School Board voted to reverse a schedule change that was saving tons of money. Guess what? That money will have to be found elsewhere -- firing more teachers, cutting programs. Enjoy.
Seminole County teachers (earning an average of almost $50,000 per year) are upset they didn't get a 3% raise. With the current economic climate adversely affecting school budgets so dramatically, I should think they would be grateful they have jobs at all. I guess not.
UAW negotiators killed the bailout plan rather than take a cut in pay. Guess what guys? A cut in pay is better than collecting unemployment.

Why do we need both a Police Department and a Sheriff's Department? Aren't the two departments' purposes nearly identical? Yet, we have separate buildings, separate budgets, and two highly-paid chains of command -- two of everything. Why can't all the resources and manpower be consolidated into one department?
Municipal budgets are shrinking -- shouldn't we start thinking about eliminating duplication of services and overlapping areas of responsibility?
This is an sincere question. If there is anyone out there who really knows what they're talking about (as opposed to people who THINK they know what they're talking about), I would be grateful for an informative response.

Sunday's Orlando Sentinel carried Shannon Butler's wedding announcement.
Apparently the crush I have had on her will wind up unrequited, along with the one I have on Elle McPherson.
Memo to Shannon:
If you change your mind, call me.

If everyone would just stop panicking and scrambling around like a bunch of ants whose home was just trod upon and hold on tight, the market will take care of itself -- it always does.
I'm no flag-waving jingoist, but the American capitalist system is the best and the strongest in the world. We just have to calm down and have some faith in our economy. You hear me Paulson and Bernanke?
We do however, need to address the issues of sub-prime mortgages and the slew of other greed- and stupidity-fueled decisions that our exaulted "leaders" of BOTH parties have made in the last ten years. We also need to address the balance of trade problem (China) and outsourcing of jobs.
I'm in the market and have lost over half my investments already (on paper). Any moves I make now will probably only lose me more money. If anything, I should be buying -- bargains like this will not occur for another fifteen years.
My broker says the DJIA will bottom out at 7200 -- one more bad week. We'll see.

Every time this moron gets on TV with his "doom and gloom" messages, the market tanks, as it did again today.
Hasn't this fool figured that out yet? Talk about a self-fulfilling prophesy! Maybe he's making money on the dwindling DJIA.
If there was anybody who needs to stick to this rule, it's him:
"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

... before cell phone use while driving is declared illegal?
A 13-year-old girl will never celebrate her 14th birthday because a tractor-trailer driver was too busy fussing with his/her cell phone.
Only ten days ago, 25 people died in a train wreck because the train engineer was too busy texting someone to notice a red light signal.
How many of us have has crashes or close-calls with drivers who were paying more attention to their phone conversations than their driving?
How many more people have to die before cell phone use while driving is declared illegal?
Tallahassee? Are any of you paying attention? Or are you all on your cell phones?

... the alternative, trust me, would be a LOT worse.
But let's construct the bail-out package(s) with some intelligence and common sense, yes? Washington, if there was ever a time to do something the correct way, this is it.
Give these financial giants (the ones whose greed created this mess in the first place) all the money they want/need, but:
o garnish the all the salaries/bonuses/stock options of all the CEOs, CFOs, COOs, etc., etc. Do not let any of them walk away from this financial fiasco with pockets bulging with OUR money;
o construct a payback schedule -- construct the "bail-out" as a loan instead of a gift;
o assign forensic accountants to examine the books -- past, present and future to ensure there is no funny business above what we all know to date.

Dear Mr. Wood,
You're 92 years old. You work part-time and you are drawing a salary and a pension totaling $234,000 per year.
Time for you to go and enjoy spending the money the taxpayers worked so hard for.
And shame on you for taking advantage of Florida's absurd retirement plan.
Truly yours,
Beleaguered Taxpayers
