Well, not really. Companies are run by managers. They get paid to make decisions. Unions used to protect the rights of workers and negotiate fair contracts for them. Then, beginning in the 1970s, unions became business entities. My union began representing groups having nothing to do with the core membership; the folks who started the union.

Union dues are usually a percentage of a member's weekly pay. The more members, the more money the unions make. The more money the members make, the more money the union makes. Closed shops, agency shops, modified agency shops, etc. all kill the choices of the worker. Wanna work here? Join the union or get lost.

Now we're in a tough spot. My solution is quite simple. It took a vote to get union representation in a shop, how about voting them out? Try following the money they collect and you won't get far. The unions have outlived their usefulness and it's time for them to re structure with new leadership or go.

Please, no talk of how much unions have done for workers. I agree. They just don't do that any more.

I heard on the news where the war on terror has cost almost a trillion dollars. Nice piece of change. I still feel that we should have concentrated our efforts in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

So our government borrows three trillion from China. China? Although we "trade" with them, aren't they really out enemy? Godless Commies or something like that? I'd really like to see a rational explanation of this policy.

I do have 2 possible solutions here. We can tell them "tough schidt" and default on the loan. What are they gonna do, ruin out reputation? Or we can take them to court! Hit them for 5 trillion for poisoning our pets and citizens. Shouldn't the Chinese government be responsible?

Your thoughts are welcome and encouraged.

Just heard on the news where today has been designated "Native American Recognition Day" or something like that by our government. So now we join the bandwagon of all the other groups that feel they must be recognized and have their culture celebrated.

Only difference here is that it's for this year only. Business as usual........
