A number of explanations and theories are out there about what happened that made it so that the Colorado Rockies ticket sales computer system failed to work Monday.

The Rockies say the system was the target of a "malicious external attack."

WHO DO YOU BLAME FOR THE FIASCO?

The team will restart online-only World Series ticket sales at noon Tuesday.

I blame no one other thant the over zealous, die hard, have no life sports fans... maybe we should just sell no tickets & make it a pay per view event.

Doubt this was a malicious attack as claimed. When you set up a ridiculous system for ticket purchases- as did the Rockies management - you're inviting the overwhelming online response they received. Ticket brokers and scalpers had systems set up to ensure they'd get into the process quickly and they overloaded the system. It may look like a denial of service attack, but it's really just greedy criminals exploiting a really stupid process to the point they overwhelmed it. The teams that have "been there" before didn't seem to have any problem selling tickets - do you think the brain surgeons running the Rockies could have at least asked others what works for them?

As an I.T. Professional - I put the blame on the rockies management. I saw this coming the moment they announced it would be web only. 8.5 million hits in 90 minutes ? - Watch for 15 million today.... I don't believe this was a malicous attack, more like all the ticket brokers and one time $$ money grabbers who know they can resell their tickets for 2-15x's the value. It makes me sad for the real rockies fans who don't have internet access! They should re-open ticket sales today and do it as they always do - live and in person, making it to where the only one's who can buy tickets are those who are local and deserve to see 'their' rockies play in their first ever World Series!

Blame it on the Rockies Organization. The big problem with online sales is...now any joker in any location can use his creditcard buy tixs. That means a guy in Europe can buy 4 tix and then list them on Ebay, knowing they will sell for a large profit. So the Rockies have now just opened scalping up to a much larger region! Thus hurting the dedicated fans that have stuck by them through thick & thin!! Art

The Rockies should Sell a 3rd by online sale, a 3rd at the box office, and the last 3rd through tixetmaster locations!!! Art

Why are we being asked this question? Instead of asking what could have been done differently or how can we fix this problem, we are asked who do we point the finger at! I think this is a major fault of our society. Something goes wrong, we look for someone to pin it on.

Amateurs are who I blame personally. The ones who are to blame are not the "hackers", but the ones who set up the system for the W W W sales, Apparently they are naive. The system was set up by "rookies" , selling series tickets online is , WorldWideWeb. So stop , think about it , and then do your job.

The Rockies put all their eggs in a basket with a very weak handle that broke. This may be the the result of a "malicious attack" but ultimately it reflects poorly on the Rockies and consequently, Denver.

The blame falls on the Rockies, Thank goodness that at least the broncos look good on the national stage beating the Steelers and the Rockies made us nationaly look like a bunch of idiots here in Denver. The Rockies had all this time to set it up to oh I don't know look into how say teams like the yankees or brave's have done it in the past. I think that they have been thier just a few times and to the Rockies I do think they sold all thier world series tickets and never had to explain away a mess like this one. To Rockies Players GOOD LUCK 24 OF 25 WOULD BE GREAT JUST BRING IT HOME WITH YA

The blame is all on the Rockies management. If they weren't so greedy this would not have gone down this way. What happen to the old school way of waiting in line to get the tickets? Why would you sell them on the web to people over seas and out of state for a game that will be played here if you were not in it for the money? I have been a die hard Rockies fan since they came here. I have sat through all the loosing games and cheered them on. Now as a fan I get screwed! If they mayor doesn't get involved in all the scalping that is going on then I think that Rockies fans will riot. This has turned something great into hatred for the management. If it wasn't for the true fans they wouldn't still be here so go ahead keep screwing us and see how many support you next year if you don’t get new management.

I blame the Rockies!!! but on a new page, I found a website that fox has on theur website that is selling wold series tickets for $5,000!!! everytime i refreshed the page, the ticket numbers went up! they had 490 for game 3, 510 for game 4 and 709 for game 5 last time I checked!! How is this fair for any kind of a sports fan to pay $5,000 each!!! How does this company ticketsnow.com get ahold of 1500 tickets in an hour???
