President Bush, standing before Congress one last time, urged the nation Monday night to stay confident against gnawing recession fears and be patient with the grinding war in
Iraq.

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE SPEECH?

I LOVED the part about eliminating behind-closed-doors "earmarks" and reducing/eliminating some of the "handouts" for the folks who don't feel like contributing to our society.

"We work hard, so you don't have to" is a good slogan for Scrubbing Bubbles.

It is NOT a good slogan for a free society.

As to health care, he was absolutely correct: If you've ever voted, gotten a driver's license, registered a vehicle, or had any other dealings with our beloved bureaucracy, you MUST know that putting the Government in charge of health care is a BAD idea.

Public healthcare? Ever been to a public restroom?

The "steps we are taking to secure our borders" and "more workplace enforcement" bits had me spraying beer out my nose. The next President will see more Americans enforcing our immigration laws themselves, if/when he chooses not to enforce them himself (and yes, I said HE, Shrillary has NO CHANCE, thank God).

Even Andy Rooney on 60 Minutes said that he couldn't pin the blame for this recession on President Bush. "I'm as ready to blame President Bush for things as anyone else but I don't think this recession is his fault," he said.

I don't understand how Pelosi could look all smug and arrogant, hers is the worst Congress in history. Too bad we have hyper-liberal outposts like San Francisco, Boston, and yes, Denver, that will send any idiot to Congress as long as they tow the Liberal line.

I'll be as glad as anyone to close the book on this chapter of our history, but I think we're a long way from fixing the things that are wrong with this Cou
