What do you think about Carmelo Anthony's arrest on suspicion of DUI?

Does it matter any more or any less than when anyone else gets arrested for the same thing? He apologized to the fans and the Nuggets organization just hours after he was pulled over.

Carmelo Anthony's blood test results won't be back for several days. He has been released and ordered to appear in court in the middle of May.

What is your opinion about this. What should happen?

Personally, Carmelo Anthony should get the same if not more trouble. Why would he deserve any less punishment than the next man? His basketball skills have nothing to do with whether or not he could hurt/kill someone for being this irresponsibile! My father was killed by a man drinking and driving! I think that Anthony
really needs to take a look at what he has and where he is at this point in his life! This man has so many fans, What would he do if he lost it all, In a matter of seconds, due to poor decisions!

Rake him over the coals! I hope he loses his license for a year.

"Police drive him back to his hotel, blah blah blah"
I never heard of an officer driving anyone else home. I don't think my tax dollars were properly allocated on this one. The cop should have made him walk home or call for a ride like everyone else.

I think that he should be made a example of..
sfter all he makes the big bucks.... and is teaching all the kids how to drink and drive...
Seems to me the more money you make,, the more you can walk away from anything illegal .. imagine this... his son is learning at a early age

Wow, I didn't know he was driven home by a cop. I have mixed feelings on this one and if anything, I am biased more against him rather than for him simply because I absolutely hate basketball. Part of me feels he should get the very same treatment that average Joe Smith would get under similar circumstances. On the other hand I feel he should be made an example of. Like it or not, Carmelo, along with fame and the fortune comes the responsibility, or the curse, of being a role model.

On a personal note, Carmelo, with the money you make, why, why, why, why didn't you call a limo, or a cab, or a car-carrier, or a tow truck to get you and/or your vehicle home? WHY?

He should pay for his crime just like anyone else.
He also should be suspened from his job.

If the Nuggets were still a losing team, he wouldn't have gotten a ride home :)

If anything it should be worse for C.A. There is no reason C.A. could not have got in a cab or even a private driver. Most citizens can't afford a legal defense. He has too much money for a legitimate excuse to have driven under the influence.
C.A. is also innocent at this point and must be afforded that right.

People got to think Carmelo is young. Young people do alot of stupid things and don't always think. I'm sure plenty of people out there have who have done stupid things when they were young. He should be treated just like everyone else! To me this is not news.

Let's get real people, if you had fame and money you know you would be using it to get yourself out of legal problems just like Carmelo and every other celebrity out there does!!
I do think Carmelo should get the book thrown at him but it's just not going to happen!!

Bluesue - if I had his money and went out drinking, I'd be using it to KEEP me out of trouble before I got Into it.

But sadly, you are right. Money talks! Look at the drunk senator Ted Kennedy. He killed a girl while driving drunk and all he suffered was a hang over.

I heard on another station that he was driven home by another sober driver...I didn't realize it was a COP! Since when do the police drive people home after being arrested? Carmelo should have called a cab, so should have the police.

I think that they should fine DUI's based on a percentage of income.

The purpose of fines is to punish the offender, and let's face it: If/when Melo is found guilty, he won't even notice the fines and court costs.

Now, if his fine were in the seven-figure range, he might actually learn from his mistake.

You are a CELEBRITY. You have loads of money, and you're telling me you can't take a taxi?! Come on! Put your pride aside and pay the less than 20 dollars to get home. Heck, I'll pay for it!
