Parents of two students at Stein Elementary School in Jefferson County are fighting the suspensions of their students.

School administrators say a couple of other students brought vicodin to school and distributed it. Vicodin is a prescription pain killer.

Two students who received the pills say they immediately got rid of them. They say they did not take them, and that they did the right thing and got rid of them.

School administrators suspended those two for possession. Their parents say that's not right.

What do you think?

Obviously this is going too far. To the parents of those children, just go and speak with the teacher who busted them, pretend to shake their hand, hand them pills, and cry out POSESSION like they did. Then say your job is in jeopardy and see how the table is turned.

This is just more concrete evidence that the liberal dominated public school system and the liberal, mindless, irrational administrators therein, charged with the temporary daily care and education of our kids, are incapable of doing just that.

The suspension of the two kids who "JUST SAID NO TO DRUGS" was the epitomy of grand stupidity.

To the imbecile who issued the suspensions: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You have just single-handedly clearly demonstrated to thousands of elementary school students that "JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS" is not a good policy to follow!

It is no wonder our children are screwed up. How can they function in society when right is viewed as wrong, and good is viewed as bad. We are basically saying to them, break the rules cause it is no different than living by them.

AWESOME!!! ( Sarcasm) Now our tax dollars are going to pay for 2 programs. Dare and DARE. "Drug Abuse Resistance Education" and "Don't Actually Resist Education"

this is too far.... we tell the children to not do drugs... so these kids dont and what do they give them as acknowledgement for NOT taking them.. they get suspended... Now what are these kids going to learn? how to go ahead and do them because we are going to punish them anyway... right or wrong? talk about sendiing the wrong message!

I know understand "Damned if you Do, Damned if you Don't." Well at least we probably now will have 2 more people joining the fight to legalize drugs. Thanks public education.

WOW are you kidding me? With all the molestations, school shootings, and now things like this. You are making home schooling look like a really attractive option for all parents

The Web blog is describing the story a little more clear than what Steve and Peggy are. Does Steve and Peggy write their stuff cause it's NOT CLEAR AT ALL!!!!!!!!!

If the two students didn't have the drugs why are they suspended? Sounds a little fishy that they would get suspending for having something they don’t have… OR maybe your anchors aren’t reporting on it correctly… OR they are not following up enough… OR they are writing from some mindless report that is NOT completed yet… Sometimes it’s frustrating to watch you. Your information is so incomplete!

to fragernockle..
said so correctly too by you... I think back to my school days and see that we had it so much easier than the kids today... we didnt have the prescription drugs running in my schools.. just the usual.. but none the LESS THEY DID NOT SUSPEND THE ONES WHO WERENT DOING IT...

I think the teachers have gone too far. How can one teach the kids the importance of saying no to drugs when the kids say no and get busted for it....And T.P....I think you take this "Liberal" thing too far also. You thing that EVERYTHING that happens in society is the fault of liberals...What is it? Is this because ther are no republican outside of r their houses in positions like teachers, poloticians and the like? Why is ALWAYS a liberal thing with you? Do you actually know these teachers and people you talk about or simply making an ASSUMPTION? And I draw attention to the "ASS"umption. Can you NOT add you hatred remarks toward other opinions? It is ALWAYS some hateful remark with you..I don't get it...Why so much hate? Is the the Republican way?

The rules are the rules! No matter what! The principal did the right thing, these kids were suspended for BREAKING THE RULES! They knew it was against the school rules to possess the drugs. Taking the drugs or not is a seperate issue all together.

I don't believe the 2 kids who took the vicadin from the kid supplying it should be suspended because they destroyed the pills. As far as the kid who was passing out the vicadin maybe he should contact the Denver Nuggets, they'll sign him to a multi-million dollar contract and their boneheaded fans will give him a standing ovation.

On Sceptics comments...Good point. It is kinda like "recieving stolen property" One doesn't have to steal it to be charged with theft. And who knows if the kids really flushed the pills or threw them away or passed them on to yet another kid.Birds of a feather flock together. A crack dealer would not pass crack to a kid who he knows doesn't use crack..Why did the kid who originally had the vicodin pass it to the kids who "got rid of it"? There has to be more to the story...Yes these are elementary kids, but that doesn't mean that they don't use drugs...There was a 5th grade student in Windsor that got busted last summer smoking pot at a party with other 5th, 6th and 7th graders..It does happen....
