I am so sick of these so called "Black" people, i.e Jesse Jackson, Sherri Shephard and most of the rappers and comedians who are just insisting on using the N word and when any other ethnic group uses it, they get angry.  WHAT HYPOCRISY!!!  This upsets me to the core!!
How can you use the N word after so many of OUR ancestors died and fought against being called that word. How degrading can you be to your own kind? And then Jesse Jackson tells everyone to NOT use it and he turns around and uses it himself! How can we trust a civil rights leader who cant even practice what he preaches?  Thats like telling your kids not to curse but yet you as a parent uses curse words around them! Sherri Shephard from the View says that its a term of endearment.  How much do you love your black brother or sister if you are going to call them a name that was used to degrade black people over the years. The N word means ignorant. SO therefore all the people who uses the word are ignorant as well.  I can just imagine the KKK and the other racial groups sitting back and laughing saying well our work is done!
We dont have to degrade them anymore. They are doing the work for us.

What a SHAME!!

You know what's really sad? It's sad that people are still identifying themselves by their skin color.

Well we have to call them "African Americans" but they call themselves whatever they want but if we use the same terms we are supposed to be fired or fined. PC is killing our nation and clowns like these guys are at the top of the list!

If "they" sant to be referred to by their color or ancestoral origin, why don't you just call them racists?

Even white kids call each other this. It is used as a term of endearment and sometimes it doesn't have an ounce of love in it. You can tell the difference. One would think people would worry less about the words and more about the actions. Gang violence, drive by shootings, selling drugs in the open, and making drugs in homes where there are children living. I don't like the word, and am afraid my grand kids will start using it one day, and then they will be considered racist. Good post!

Just a note...the originator of this topic says that the n word means ignorant...
That is wrong. It actually has a much different orgin/meaning. If you are interested, you can look it up.
It's one thing for me to tell you but you will see it to be more truthful if you look it up yourself, like I did!

NO...actually look up the REAL orgin...where it came from...it's REAL meaning has NOTHING AT ALL to do with ignorance...I used to think it did...till i did actual research on my own...not just typing the word into dictionary.com! The encyclopedia is far more accurate and explains more... here's a link that I found helpful...It contains the ETYMOLOGY and HISTORY of the N word!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDIT#Etymology_and_history

There's an even better site but I can't remember where.

Dictionary.com has an encyclopedia in it. What's really weird is I like some rap songs, which have the word in it. Whats a girl to do?

The actual encyclodeia is very indepth in explanations… I saw the little paragraph that dictionary.com has…but it was not indepth like the encyclopedia…
I’ll just share the info that I have:
Earlier variants (such as neger or negar) derive from the Spanish/Portuguese word negro, meaning “black” Both negro and noir (and therefore also nègre and EDIT) ultimately come from nigrum, the accusative form of the Latin word niger (pronounced ['niger], like "knee-ger" with the final r being trilled), simply meaning "black".
In Coloinal America, negars was used in 1619 describing slaves shipped. Basically letting them know that they were sending ppl of color…because those words mean black!
In the United States, the word EDIT was not always considered derogatory, but was instead used by many as merely denotative of black skin, as it was in other parts of the English-speaking world. In nineteenth-century literature, there are many uses of the word EDIT with no intended negative connotation. The word was only used to describe what the person looked like.
In English, neger became "negar" and finally "EDIT." The perception of the term EDIT as derogatory is no doubt related to the fact that the “negroid” race itself has been widely regarded as inferior by people that decided to think that they are better. And so, everyone followed. There is an observable pattern of words denoting the Black race coming to be regarded as derogatory: EDIT, darky, negro, and colored, all at various times acceptable, are all considered offensive now. "Black" was the preferred term from the late

Why the originator of this blog said, “so called ‘Black’ people,” I have no idea. But you cannot title a person as a “Black Person”. Your name is what you are called… not appearances, to use the color of your skin is a description!!! You wouldn’t dare say…did you see that fat person, I think I know her...There are just certain things that are rude and that is one of them. And it wouldn’t be ok for ppl to say, “why do those ‘White” people say things like that?” That places a title on an entire group rather than a specific person…(Ben, Mary whomever…) It’s why ppl are stereotyped and it’s wrong, but just because Jesse Jackson, Sherri Shephard, some rappers and comedians use or have used that word…doesn’t give you the right to say, “so called ‘Black’ people! That in itself is offensive! That’s hypocritical! What makes that person “Black”?…Last time I checked, the color black is the same color as this font and I have very rarely in my life seen a person that is that dark! And no, I don’t think ppl degrade themselves by using that word. How does it degrade you if you have a different meaning of it and it does not offend you??? But, don’t get me wrong, I do not use that word and I don’t think it’s ok because of the way it was used in the past as a derogatory term. But to say that by using the word that you are doing the kkk’s work for them, I just don’t get it! The kkk kills/killed, they march in parades and demean and belittle. They, in a negative, purposeful way, use that word… These “so called ‘Black’ people” as you call them, are not doing that, they are not intentionally an

The bad part about the negative use of the word…is that the only difference in a light person and a dark person is the amount of Melanin you have and your genes. I’m not at all an expert but, people in very hot places…from what I understand… have a higher amount of melanin to protect their skin from the sun because of the high exposure of where they live, which is what causes them to be dark. Through time, that all effected the genes of generations to come. So who has the place to say, you have more melanin than I do because you need to be protected from the sun and I don’t so that makes me better than you. What kind of thinking is that…because in the end…that’s what the FACTS come down to. To think that you are better than a person that has all of the same things that make them up as a human as you do, but have more melanin and different genes! I just don’t get it…maybe it’s because I am a more loving and humble person than ppl like that. But that’s imperfect human thinking for you…too many ppl are out to make themselves #1 with no humility and the desire to be in control…it’s made the whole world mad! And it’s the cause of racism to this day! In my eyes the N word does mean black, which is it’s orgin…but it comes with a lot of painful baggage…which is why I think it is disrespectful to use it!

Sorry momo1, why are you playing paragraph games? Look your comments have made it in minutes apart, while others have to wait. Are you on the inside looking out? In a palace? OK, I've asked my question? I'm out of here.
