This election has been interesting and in a few days it will be over. This race is tightening and we will have a new President soon.

I have been listening to Fox News in one ear and another morning show on 94.5 in another and Both views had me sitting on the fence concerning the Election. One side shows me the radical and untrustworthy views of Obama and the other side shows me the beauty of having change in the White House. This is History. Everyone knows that.  Barack Obama has done what Jesse Jackson couldnt.

But the  Sunday before last i went to church and my pastor made a statement and he said that To vote for someone because of their skin color and to NOT vote for someone because of their skin color is racist.  It seemed that he was looking at me when he said that and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Just last night i had a conversation with a fellow blogger and he made me realize some things.

Even though my children are bi-racial i want them to be proud of their Black heritage BUT i dont want them to vote for someone simply because he is black and on the contrary, I want them to be proud of their White heritage as well but I dont want them to vote for a person because they are White either.  It starts with me! You have vote on morals and values and vote on who is right for the future NOT who is right for RIGHT NOW!!

I have made my decision and i am proud of my decision. Hopefully this candidate will come through and back up what he is proposing. but you have to look at record and when you do chose the person who is more truthful and the one who is more than likely to follow up on his promises!!

Unfortunatley Afelton, there are far too many people out there that will vote strictly based on the color of skin. I commend you for putting a lot of thought into your choice and only wish the majority of citizens would do the same. I know we sit on different sides of that preverbial fence, you with your agenda and me with mine. As for Obama, let me ask you this? Why does he favor the black side of his family and hardly ever mention the white side? He is proud to be black but we all know he is also white but seems to hide that fact. That question alone makes me tend to think he is hiding something and from there the distrust begins. The wife and I have been registered independent up until this very year when we registered republican. That was our choice quite a bit before all this campaigning began and we were both impartial to either or any affiliation. We had to register one way or another in order to vote in the primarys as we were not able to vote in them in the past.
I have paid a lot of attention to what has been happening behind the scenes and put my trust in the candidate that tells the least lies and has the least corruption behind them. Before turning this into a political battle, I will cut it off here with one last comment. Afelton, you are an intellegent person with strong convictions and should be proud of that.

As I was doing some reseach on candidates for lesser known offices, amendment proposals, and judges, I came across a youtube video of Alan Keyes pounding Obama in a 2004 IL state senate race debate. In that 7 minute video, Keyes draws the lines along ideology.

As you said, Afelton, be proud of your heritage but vote according to your ideology, conscience, and moral/ethical standards. Too bad Keyes didn't get a better hearing in the primaries. I would vote for Keyes over McCain, but McCain definitely over Obama ... never Obama.

oldvamp. I have NO idea why obama dont mention his white side even though he does mention his grandmother. Maybe its that stupid "one drop of Black blood, you are Black" rule that was popular in the Civil War era. Obama's mom died of ulvarian cancer(sp)when she was young and his dad dies at an early age as well.
Maybe the Black community embraced him tighter. i have no idea. but Thank you for the compliment. I would surely LOVE a Black man in the White House but it has to be someone else who doesnt have so much "drama"

Hello my friend...you are so RIGHT and those very same people would turn and call you the same to their defense! I've got your back! Voting for all the wrong reason isn't being very responsible or smart so that makes them voting abuser's! But then again it's not much different from any politican either!

What really got me is watching on FOX about someone that placed a look a like Obama figure hanging from a tree on a college campus and now the FBI may investigate it as a hate crime, but yet someone else takes a manikin dressed up like Palin hanging from a noose, but that is OK! Sounds pretty racist to me when one is OK and the other isn't and considered a hate crime!

Horse crap!! I'm Bi racial... but I want my kids to have pride in their black heritage....

What about the other race(s) in your background... Just like Obama who throws out his white Italian genes from his mother's side! We know all about his aunt in squaller, his brother from Dad's side in Kenya in a hut, but NOTHING to any distant family on Mom's side! Other than white grandparents that he throws under the bus when it suits him! BTW- Grandma was on her death bed just a week ago... where is she now? Obviously not bad enough that Grandma should see her son's wife and 2 daughters I guess as they were on the campaign trail trail!

Just as OJ Simpson's not guilty verdict was the joy of all who put skin color ahead of justice.. so too they vote for a man's skin, for no other reason! If Obama had been a Conservative He would have my vote for sure! But he is radical socialism!

Notice he only complains about the title of socialism and NEVER denys it... never has..

Abunai, There is nothing wrong with showing pride in one herritage over another. What he is doing is almost as though he were ashamed of the white ancestry. I am 100% American although my ancestors came from Italy and Germany/Irland however, I grew up in an Italian neighborhood. I am far more Italian than my brother who favored the German side of our family. That don't make us bad people, it just shows diversity. Neither of us hint at hiding the other qualities of our origin. Why can't B. Hussein Obama do the same?

"Even though my children are bi-racial i want them to be proud of their Black heritage BUT i dont want them to vote for someone simply because he is black and on the contrary, I want them to be proud of their White heritage as well but I dont want them to vote for a person because they are White either."

Candy,
I think we both read the same blog and from what I understand, AFelton is saying he needs to vote on morals and values.
From the little I have read about Felton, he is like me. That leads me to believe he is going to vote for McCain.

God bless you Felton. I imagine it was hard but, I also believe you would rather honor God than man.

Northton.... I assume that, since you are white, you will be voting for that McCain guy. LOL

And Candy, Who is playing the race card? Not me. I dont have anymore to play. Mine was all played out when I was young. LOL

Thanx ChinkyC I really need that blessing. My sister is getting on me because of my decision and for the first time since we were kids we had an arguement today about politics LOL Oh well. No love lost there though. my sister is STILL my girl ;-)

The notion is for Obama...

Screw diversity! Maybe its my military background but the enemy doesn't give their guys more points for killing one color over another.. they see us as AMERICANS! Period.

What we should focus on is the fact that no matter what! Gender, age, race, religion, etc. we all bleed RED!

Too many unappreciative Americans who spend too much time with sub groups. I hate when we have to put something AHEAD of the term American..... It reaks of some pseudo need for identification! Being American just isn't enough? Sure are more people comming here to be part of the experience...

Afelton, your INTELLIGENCE, INTEGRITY, VALOR and SENSIBILITY are why you are NOT voting for Obama, "The New Osama," based on color. You're astute enough to see the "handwriting on the wall," when it comes to Obama, like many of us. Others, sadly, like Northton, due to being either in a padded room, or because of their heads being lodged in their upper intestines, just "don't get it"!
