I recieved this email from a very good Buddy and fellow Patriot of mine.  My "Snuffies" and I went thru this with Starbucks in '05 while deployed. One of them wrote to the shop in his hometown and got basically the same reaction. I find it sad.

to clarify, does this writing entail, an overseas marine, goin into an overseas Starbucks and requesting free tall, coffee prepared for serving? ...or for Starbucks to send the packaged varieties to the Marines, and/or other military.

So you are asking for a boycott since they said, "No'. I doubt if Starbucks as a business would do this, but it would make a great tax deduction for charity here in U.S. of A.

Abroad, I don't know, Yes, You do mention Deployment. I thinkin' the Overseas Owners are not patriotic???

p.s. If Starbucks indeed, has one owner, then he would be wise to support our military with the charitable contribution you so well deserve....since you are putting your life on the line for us citizens.

The coffee was requested of a stateside store to be shipped to Iraq. And as I also stated, It happened to one of the young men that was in my charge in Iraq also. This was a request for ground coffee. There's no starbucks in Iraq that I am aware of and besides we were a little busy to stop and have a tall latte.

There was a time when crap like that would mean a well-justified end to a business in America.

Too bad that time has passed.

Really gj, that's a fact.
This is where the big money corps. go.

I will say this...... Dunkin' Donuts sent us more coffee than we could stand. Everybodies (in my unit)local store sent a "care package" every month or so. Without fail each package had notes of encouragement and well wishes from the employees as well as a couple of pounds of coffee.
It's amazing how far a little thing like that goes for morale.

There is no excuse for this, they want to profit from it. Giving coffee does'nt mean your fully on board with the War. Making a statement such as they made tells me they support the George Soros types, One World government and open boarders.

Yeah alfadawg, I haven't had StarBucks for years. When a friend (Navy guy) brought this to my attention. I actually saw a letter of about the same consistency that he sent and the return letter he got back from Starbucks saying the same thing. They didn't support the war..blah blah blah. It's disgusting. They don't have to support the "war" they could have a backbone and support the TROOPS. I always tell my friends and family about this BS..I got my mom to quit her 5 cup a week habit there.. lol

I think this is actually a chain letter... I saw it two years ago... and I think it's fake. I read it again on urbanlegends.about.com

From their site they say "Starbucks is a company with a social conscience and a long history of contributing product, time and funding to a wide variety of local, national and international non-profit organizations. In addition, Starbucks has the deepest respect and admiration for U.S. military personnel. We are extremely grateful to the men and women who serve stateside and overseas. We sincerely appreciate that they are willing to risk their lives to protect Americans and our values of freedom and democracy" They SAY it, yet they won't donate some dang coffee beans.. Hmm interesting. Perhaps something to look in to. Always good to find the truth.

"To enhance our partners' outstanding grassroots efforts in support of the U.S. military troops, Starbucks is honored to extend our relationship with the American Red Cross in order to provide more coffee to relief efforts during times of conflict. We are pleased to donate 50,000 lbs of coffee to the American Red Cross for distribution to those troops serving in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait. The Company is making this contribution through the American Red Cross as part of its long-term, ongoing commitment to share the comfort of coffee during times of crisis. "

Sorry, alfadawg, the rest of my post was lost.

I was saying that back in the days of WWII a company like Starbucks would be boycotted right the heck out of business.

They had BETTER be supporting this Country, they are PROFITING from it!

I would like to think that this story is a bit on the scuttlebutt side. I would hate to think that someone from Starbucks actually took the time to write back, not with coffee, but with a smack in the face.

As the new year approachs and this seems to be a year for change(?) I figured I'd change my BIO. Much more exciting than sorting my socks. Again. So let's see.... Chief Petty Officer in the Seabees(RES).Proud Iraqi Freedom Vet.(3 tours, voluntary), and have spent more time in a hooch in Iraq than in my own home since 2004. I'm a cranky, miserable, politically incorrect Father of 4 wonderful kids, 5 pit bulls, a ferret and a chihuahua. My creatures are my kids too! Married to the best woman in the world who has been my driving force for the past 25 years and I will go to the grave for what is mine. Believe in the war and believe GWB made the right decision and stuck by it, can't hate a guy for that. Firmly believe that on a whole the Iraqi people are good people having had the pleasure to interact with quite a few. Am I happy with the election? Not at lberty to say. Will we survive as the best and greatest nation in the world? Absolutely. The zombies will be kept at bay Future plans for the coming year is to get back home and catch up on the year and a half I have been gone, maybe ride my bicycle around the world,(not really), and stay alive one more year! That's it, that's all there is. God bless our Troops and bring them home alive and Victorious. SEMPER GUMBY, DAWG
