What do you believe is the driving force behind racism?

We have numerous groups throughout the world that basically caters to one specific race, groups such as, the NAACP, Black Panthers, Young black business men and many more.

Although, most of these groups do not practice violence, it is basically the idea of the group not being opened to every race that stirs up problems most of the time.

Some may say that we need groups with “our” own people because, without them we would feel out of place, or we need the group so that we can take a stand on racism, and the unfair treatment of people of color, or non color.

In my opinion these groups, separate and divide us..as a nation of “humans”..I often wonder, why can’t we just be a group of one? Instead of being divided by cities, schools, jobs and etc.

Sectioning ourselves off from the rest of world, makes us ignorant to certain cultures which make it hard to get to know each other, which in the end result make it hard for us to accept someone who doesn’t have the same skin color.

On a similar note, we have public figures such as Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson who stir things up the minute a non-colored race tries to develop a group or say something that is deemed out of the way to them.

Although, Jesse Jackson is a mentor to most and is often in the public eye preaching about doing right.I don’t not consider him as a great leader of no group or race…His bad example of not taking care of his illegitimate child proves that he isn’t someone who can judge rather a person’s actions are unforgivable.

And we must ask ourselves..is this someone who should have influence on what happens to a man simply made a joke?

In conclusion, Can anyone answer what exactly made the Joke racist? The statement “Nappy Headed EDIT’s” Do not have black nor white in it.

That is sort of like the N word…The word is not defined as any one race.

As far as the driving force behind racism , it must be NASCAR racing . It's a metaphore for red neck drive bys . A bunch of ex shine runners always aiming left , running from the feds , come on , can't you see it ?

I wondered myself how the statement itself was racist. Its not. That he directed it to a group of (mostly) black women I suppose is what 'made' it racist, but REALLY, how many of those women have NEVER uttered those words jokingly/effectionately/angrily at someone. I know I have, serious, and not to a black woman either.
Just ppl looking for drama.

Now help me if I am wrong bella. I don't mean to offend you I am going to ask you a sincere question. I am not a racist person I am one of the one's that could care less about race. But I am led to believe from your blogs that you have a problem with black people. Now I'm just asking maybe you could help me I might be looking at it wrong. But I thought the NAACP came about at a time when blacks had no protection from unfair pratices on jobs, from unfair practices at universities, mistreated by police officers for nothing etc. black people had a really hard time at one time so that is why these organizations were formed. I am not mad personally at what Don Imus said I don't know about it being racist but it wasn't nice. What was his reasoning in saying that he had no reason to call them that. The N word is a word that white people used to down talk the black race and that wasn't nice it may not refer to just one race but we know where it origianted from.I'm not saying hold past stuff over the white man's head because I believe that every individual is held accountable for his own doings. I really do like to conversate on these postings because it opens my eyes more to how other people look at things. But I just thought most of these organizations were formed to help black people at one time when they couldn't get anywhere in society. These organizations started for a reason to encourage black people that they are somebody and that they can make it. It's almost like your saying nothing has ever happened and these organizations shouldn't have started and black people need to just s

Antoinette, I am no where near racist against blacks or any other race. But, I am pissed that the NAACP and other black groups play the race card when something is said or done.

The NAACP, was created to make this nation or try to make it equal. NAACP, was created by a white man.

And yes I am telling black people to forgive about the past. There is not one black person alive today who was a slave. SO, what is the anger for?

At this time I believe we should all try to make something of the future..Because, if you live and constantly bring up the past..We are doomed to repeat history..instead of changing the future for the better.

IT IS OVER!!! LIVE FOR THE FUTURE!!!!!

I believe you are so right about everything you said. And black people should not be angry for past situations you are right it is over. I believe the anger comes from the racism being udercover smiling in your face but really don't care for you because you are black.I am the type of person if you do something to me I have a problem with you not the whole race.I guess I am just saying I can understand the frustration behind what black people do feel because at that moment when something happens to you that is racist you are not going to shut up.And when you do speak up.SOME whites and some blacks thatry to kiss but try to make blacks feel like they are whining. That is just like you punching me in my face and telling me I'D better not cry or complain PLEASE!!! I am going to say something so help me God. I do recognize that a lot of white people helped black people and organized the NAACP because they were some of the one's that were real enough to say that this was wrong. So many people are in denial. I am not saying constantly bring up the past all I am saying is understand. It sound like in most of these blogs that black people don't have a right to say nothing and that is not fair. But we all have our own opinions and that's what I like about these discussinons we can just talk about world issues and not argue. You be blessed bella I enjoyed talking to you.

I know that the Naacp was started by a white man because he was one of the one's that was real enough to step up and say these people need help. And yes we are suppose to forgive no matter who we are. And no person alive in these times were not slaves. Some of the older generation like my grandparents might have experienced this stuff in the South but that's all. And yes we need to make something of the future. History would repeat itself if blacks didn't have organizations to fight for them. Now maybe some black people do take it a little out of had. But on the real tip racism is still real and blacks still need those type of groups like I said they may take it out of hand but society acts like blacks should shut up altogether and that's not going to happen because that would make room (believe it or not)for people that are really racist to bring back history. Too many people act like that's in the past their are still hate groups out their that are trying their best to bring it back to the way it was.I have seen documentaries and I couldn't believe that was real.

I also look up the kkk website because I was curious and those people are for one race even if it is to aniliate blacks and these people work in everyday jobs and you wouldn't know who they are. I heard a kkk man say on cable tv blacks were originally slaves and they ought to go back to being slaves and we are going to see to it that that happens. So in my mind I feel like we do need support from our own because they are going to stick together.WE might think history won't happen again but you never know. It is some blacks that take this racism out of hand but we still need the NAACP. I enjoy your blogs girl you stir up some good conversations.
KEEP IT INTERESTING.

Hi Bella, I have enjoyed your blogs in the short time I've been on and this again is another good topic. I was born in Alabama and am a proud southerner who is planning on moving to tennessee soon. This does not in any way make me racist. I judge each person as an individual & how they treat me & mine. I believe there are good & bad people in every race, ethnic background,& religion.I agree that it is the fact that these groups are'nt open to all races that makes them a problem. If the white race had the naawp, white caucas, united white collage fund, white miss america, white music and movie awards, etc. etc. then & only then would it be ok to have the same for blacks. WE all know that if whites tried to start anything simular to what blacks have, people would scream racism in the blink of a eye. The rev's [jackson, sharpton, anthony, farakon] would be in such shock that they would turn white. Blacks say they want equal rights and I agree, but equal rights should be just that, equal.Maybe these organizations were needed once but now they, can be seen as racist.Bella, I once had a really really bad perm so had I been at that game I might have been that nappy headed EDIT.

well regardless of what any white or black person says the National Association for the Advancement of colored people is needed and it is not racist regardless of what anybody says. It was there to always help black people against discrimination which makes it NOT racist. And anybody who is not black would say that it is. If a person is not black they don't understand the struggle and would make comments like ,blacks are whining and organizations to help blacks achieve is racist, when it is NOT. It didn't start off as a racist organization and it is still not a racist organiztion. The Black Panthers hated whites so I can see that. But people who are non black would make comments like blacks have organizations like the black college fund, naacp, and the black caucus are racist organizations when they are NOT.

Would you say the same if there were a National Associaton for the Advancement of White People? The naawp could help whites fight for equal rights, just like the naacp does for blacks. Can a poor white child get help from the united nigro collage fund, I think not.If only one race benifits from any organization then that orgaization is Racist period!
