Now some of us think that a raise in gas tax will be a good thing but have we all thought this threw? I am talking about who it will effect and how and to what extent? Have we looked at all sides of this 50% raise and the GPS tracking they want to use to track the people who use the most gas to add more taxes on them. We need to take a real close look at all sides of this great idea and then we can judge just how great an idea this will be.
First who will be effected by the tax? Well all of us but some more than others. The more than others would be truckers with long hauls, construction workers, farmers ( with the use of farm equipment and shipping their products), stores to buy the products being shipped to them and finally us. We have to buy the products being shipped by the people the government wants to increase taxes on.
So the truth about the gas tax is it will effect the cost of gas, as we watch it start to go up again, the cost of food, clothing, housing, toys, everything we use in our lifes will go up in cost as it all revolves around how much it will cost to produce then ship or market.
Let's go back to the fact that the very people who want this tax increase are the ones who want us to use less gas, yet they still go on vacations and travel from DC to their home states as they see fit, while most of us have no means to go to the local camp ground. Now they have learned that by cutting the use of gas as much as we have they have lost millions in revenue. Gees go figure. The Feds lost heavily as their tax is higher than what the oil companies make per gallon, the states have lost, the cities have lost, and now they want to solve the problem they created by taxing all of us.
So the plan to cut back on gas use did not work out as planned, but how could it with the new federal spending and the 1.5 trillion on the horizon they plan to spend. So now they spew the tax cut, big deal as the tax on gas will more than make up for one that is now down to $30,000.00 and below. So we have a government who is not only short sighted but dumber than a mud slide in winter at the north pole.
We need to consider that the Fed tax is 18.4 cents on the dollar now while the oil company gets 4 cents. The Feds want 24.4 cents which puts them at 20 cents more than the oil companies and you know what profits the oil companies are making after expenses so where does the fed spent the 14 cents over the oil companies now. Think about it, that is some kind of profit there. We have screamed about the oil companies profits yet we have not paid attention to the fed profits.
Then we have to deal with the stimulus checks, do you really want them? If you recieved one for $1,500 last year and claim it, as you need to, on your tax return you are now out $2,500 for that tid bit of a hand out. So we have the feds collecting coming and going and promising the moon. The truth is nothing is free and big government will cost every man woman and child in America the problem is just how much will it all cost in the end. We can start with the gas tax, then add the fat tax, and just for good messure the stimulus hidden tax. Will it ever end?
Hell-o liberal, democratic government, tax and spend then tax some more.
Nite all, and God bless us one and all as we will need it in the coming years.

I watched that movie, "The Note", and was reminded of when my father passed away when I was 13 years old. He was a minister and only wanted the small churches in the country. He loved working with people who worked hard and lived harder. He spent hours driving from one ranch to another when people were ill. He helped hunt the big cats that were killing their cattle, and he help gather the cattle and brand them. He preached on Sunday and Wensday and the rest of the week he would just visit the sick and help where needed. He was big on repecting others and never bringing shame on your name.
He used to make me watch the elderly parents of some of the people so they could go to church once in a while. I hated it at first then I started listening to them talk. They had such storied to tell. They lived in a time before cars and electric and before T.V. and their bathrooms were outhouses. They had hard winters and rough lifes but they enjoyed it while they lived it. They lived threw the depression and so did their children.
One elderly woman use to paint and she had me pull a bunch of pictures she had painted as a child out. They were beautiful, and as I looked threw them she told me what each one was about and when she had painted them. They were history on canvas. That was the moment I became interested in art. To this day I paint and when I am gone I will be leaving history behind me as well. Remembering what he did for others as well as for us made me think of what we all leave behind once we are gone. How much have we done for others without expecting to get something in return?
At this time of year it is good to remember a time when, sometimes not willingly, I was taught that giving a little of my time could bring me much more than I was giving. That no matter how rough life can become there was a time when cell phones, cable T.V. , indoor plumbing, and electric were a dream and people lived happily without them. There was a time when they chopped wood for heat and ate what they hunted or grew. They survived. The world has progressed and in doing so the elderly are put in homes with no one to listen to their tales of older days and outhouses are portable now.
The thing is, I loved my dad and he love all of us. He gave us memories and built a fondation to grow on. He taught me that to give freely is a blessing not only on the person recieving but on me more so. He has been gone now for many years. He never saw his grandchildren nor his great grandchildren, but he did leave them a bit of history. What he taught all of us has been passed on to them. He gave us the ability to love others, and to see that no one is perfect, no one is the same and everyone should be treated with respect no matter who they are or how much they have. Because those with the less usually give the most. They are the ones that give the last dollar they have not $100. of the thousands they have.
Sometimes the less is the most and the most the less. So at this time of the year it is nice to be reminded that to give to those with less can be more rewarding than recieving. But most of all to respect others no matter what they look like, what they believe in or how they think. That being diffrent is alright, and being poor is not a sin, nor a shame. It is not what you have but the type of person you are that matters. After all it is your name that you will have from birth till death and that is the one thing that should never bring you shame. Everything else will come and go but your name will always be with you.
Nite all, Merry Christmas and God bless.

It's bad enough the congress is bailing out everyone but the little guy who pays their paychecks, then gives themselfs a raise but to give $225 million to billionare Richard Branson for his "Spaceport America" in New Mexico, and $18 million to the Navada Museum in LosVegas and $550,000. to conserve pheasants in ILL, and $142,000 to license massage palors for animals in Washinton State.
We all know that there are so many more valued projects to spend our taxes on than OUR JOBS, and homes. God knows those dogs and cats need a day at the spa before you need your paycheck. Yeap if you go down the list of priorities our pay checks are some where down at the bottom below the National Mule and Packers museum in Bishop Calf.
Then you look at all the other little donation of tax payers money they hand out and you wont see one dime on a check made out to the company you work for as it shuts it's door and you go jobless, nor will you see a check in the mail to pay your bills from the same worthless congress who has done nothing for the last year and half but give tax payers money out like they earned it.
But what the heck, we all know there are jobs worth saving and jobs that are worthless and we have seen which ones Congress values. Guess what, the jobs are not yours or mine. Go figure. So yeapers it is time for change alright, real change and it needs to be every person in congress who has handed out our tax money as if it were theirs to waiste and any other political figure who thinks their wants superceeds ours.
Nite all, Merry Christmas and God bless.

Ok, now this is true and kinda sad. I have a pure bred rat terrier and a mutt as most of you know. Now I know what breed Mouse is, he is the rat terrier and suppose to be bred to hunt and kill rodents. That is what his breed was created for. Then I have Mickey who is a mutt and I am not sure what he has in him. I suspect hound as he bays and having been raised with bluetick hounds I know that sound fairly well.
Now Mouse, he never chases, hunts nor kills a rodent. He basicly ignores them, (except for squerrils which he plays with), which one might think he would as that is why he was bred. His job in life more or less. But no he does not show the least intrest in doing his job. Where as Mickey, who God alone knows what he was bred for, takes great pleasure in hunting down and bringing me all the little rodents he can catch.
Living in the country we get field mice in the winter and out comes the traps and now Mickey. He is quite good at catching the little rodents. He kills the grown ones but the tiny baby ones he isn't sure what to do with them. He just corners them and bays until I come and dispose of them. Mouse sits and watches with intrest but he is not going to hunt, much less catch one for anyone. Now that is sad. A dog bred to hunt and kill rodents just sits back and watches while the one who is really too big for mouse hunting does just that.

Mouse

Mickey
Now I would really love to know why a dog that should be catching rodents does not and the one who should not does. It's bad enough that one dog teaches the other his bad habits while niether teaches the other thier good habits. Now they are confused as to what they should or should not be doing.

As you can see the little dog gets the big bed while the big dog gets the carpet. They are both suffering from issues of who is what. Mouse thinks like a great dane and Mickey thinks like a chicken. Mouse will chew a leg off anyone he feels is tresspassing while Mickey runs for cover just in case they are dangerous. They are a mess. Now I have the rodent thing going. You live and you learn.
Dogs are like people I guess. The ones you expect to turn out one way end up the other. Strange as it may seem. So what do you do? You just sit back and hope Mickey shames Mouse into doing his job. But I don't think it will happen. After all mouse wieghs in at 11 lbs and Mickey a close 40 lbs and you see who ends up in the bed.
Nite all, Merry Christmas and God bless.

Well how do you like that, no tax cuts, health care is out with the amount of money being passed around like cheese and crackers. And now we hear the Pres elect really is a closet smoker with wife. How do you like that? So what kind of person even lies about smoking? Gees, either you do or you do not but why lie? It isn't illegal to smoke yet.
What can you say? Now the White House will have smokers and if you ever visited a house where people smoke you know that is just not cool. Say it aint so Joe, say the man did not lie about something as silly as smoking. Now that is too dumb. Gosh and to think I am tring to stop smoking. I went from 2 packs a day to 2 and a half cigs a day working my way to no cigs a day one at a time but I would never lie about it.
I do not get why anyone would lie about smoking. But then there have been alot of lies going on so what is one more. Puts a new light on smokers now. They have the BO to look up to. I love it.

As I see it there is an advantage to securing social security even at this late date. We all stand a better chance with the stock market crashing of having at least a dime to each dollar we invested in it where as with the congress we have now we will owe about twenty dollars for every dollar we invested in it. Congress will borrow from it until the 6th generation from now will still be bailing it out.
Personally I feel we are slowly being robbed by the very people elected to do what is "best" and in our "intrest" but have yet to do so. They have done what is "best" and in their "intrest" without a problem. Including insulting the people who elected them into office. We are stinky tourist according to Ried, and do not disagree with Pelosi or your head should be drilled.
So I guess we get four more years of higher taxes, fewer jobs, and more insults with a country that will owe more than the next three generations will be able to pay off. Way to go congress. Not to worry though, they have our social security to spend still. It is not secured because that was such a bad idea and they will protect it. Go it. Any one else believe that line? It is not secured because they can't spend it if it was. It was not the stock market they were worried about. No one said invest it in stock just secure it.
So how does it work with it unsecured? Oh yeah, they spend it and you get an IOU from congress. Now take that to the bank.

As we all know Christmas is just around the corner. We will each celebrate it in our own way and hopefully it will bring joy to all of us, even the people who do not always agree with us as well as those who do. This Christmas I was blessed with an early gift. My second great grandson. I am very lucky to have an extremly large family that is loving and close all year around. If I get nothing else I will have been given the greatest gift of all. I will have seen my children grow into adults and have families of their own as well as my grandchildren doing the same.

These are my blessings over the last two Chrismases. With all that is going on in the world today there does not seem to be alot to be thankful for but I look at the faces of my great grandsons and I see the hope of a new generation and the history of my family. I know it is strange but there is a history in those two tiny faces.
My parents were children of share croppers, my father was a traveling boxer, and my mom eventually a single mother with a 5th grade education. She got her GED and went on to support 4 of us until she remarried. Now we have children who own farms, businesses and homes and have college educations. In these two boys I see how we came from nothing to where we are and they one day will be looking into the faces of a new generation and leaving a bit of history with them.
I have compiled a family tree going back to the 1700's to pass down to our newest generation that gives them an idea of where they came from and where they can end up. I want them to see the blessings they are and have as they look into their own grandchildrens faces.
So when all looks as if there is little to be thankful for look into the faces of the new generation and think of where they came from and what they can do. Life is what we make of it and what we leave behind. I am leaving hardworking, proud and loving children with a history to look back on. I raised them to be honest and to give as well as take. I am proud of my family and my newest additions.
Nite all and Merry Christmas, God bless.

Mickey at 5 wks.
Mickey today with
mouse. And as you can see some things never change.
Some of you will remember my dog Mouse and his new play mate Mickey. Well Mickey is now almost 6 months old and I have to tell you he is not going to be a small 11Lb. dog like Mouse as he already tops 40lbs. I figure at the rate he is growing he might end up 80lbs or more. He is still cute and playful and full of beans.
I just wanted to let you all know I am looking into saddles as he is more along the lines of a small horse than a small dog as I was led to believe he would be, but do not worry I still will keep the heathen animal. After all he is very smart for a mutt. He now barks when his food dish is empty and if you do not pay attention not to worry he will bring the dish to you and then howl till it gets filled. He brings his empty water dish as well but he just sits and looks at you if he wants water. And exactly a 4 P.M. he will demand his treats.
He likes to talk to us and it can be annoying at times, like in the middle of a good show or when you have a visitor and he wants in on the conversation. He has diffrent noises he makes when he does this. Little yips, kind of a yawning whine, and brief barks. Once in a while he will bay like a hound during his chats. I have no idea of what he is talking about but he sits and looks you in the eye and goes at it.
He has learned to tease Mouse with the stuffed toys now. He gets one and lays on the sofa and hangs the stuffy over the edge moving it back and forth. When Mouse runs to get it Mickey yanks it up and sits on it. Now Mickey is 3 times the size of Mouse and his backside pretty much covers the stuffed animals up so Mouse can't get it and they start a game of keep away. This will go on for hours at a time with Mickey taking off at times with the stuffy and they run from room to room. But Mickey is nice enough to let Mouse get the stuffy a few times to keep the game going.
Mickey is very gentle with Mouse, which we find suprising, (Mouse can be grumpy and snap when he doesn't get his way at times), No matter how many times Mouse snaps at him Mickey just moves a little then goes back and makes up with Mouse. He can fit Mouses head in his mouth and crunch it with no problem but he never snaps back, he just licks Mouse and frowns at him. When he frowns his faces wrinkles up and he looks like one of those dogs with wrinkles all over except Mickey only has them when he frowns.
Now Mickey can hear, smell and spot things long before Mouse but where Mouse will go for what ever it is Mickey will break his neck trying to get behind a person or back into the house. He is not what you would call a watch dog unless you want to watch him run. He really has turned into a clown and added a new aspect to our lifes. I was watching a show about funny things animals do on T.V. and a racoon started to come into a house threw a dog door on the show and Mickey went nuts. He did everything he could to catch that critter and all day he sat growling at the T.V. even when the show was off and several others had come on. It was wierd.
There is one thing Mickey has done that can not be replaced by anything and I will be forever grateful to the people who lied to me and convinced me take this mutt home. My Hubby has been ill for a few years now and he has not felt up to much. Yesturday he told me that he has felt better and wants to get some more test run as he thinks his health is getting better. He wanted to know can a dog make you feel better and give you more energy than you have had in years? It seems that all the laughing and joy this goofy dog has brought into our lifes has made my hubby's alot better.
I don't care if it is the dog that did it or just that he is feeling better, I am just glad that one mutt has brought so much to two older people with his talking, playful, heathen ways. And beleive me he is a heathen as well. I know as he has eaten two shoes of mine, chewed threw the telephone line, gets into our paper trash and crewed up the wooden Santa toys that went with my display. But what the hay, sometimes you have to take the good with the bad, I kept my hubby despite his bad habits so I'll keep the mutt too. After all I can count on alot of laughs all day with Mickey around. He has turned into a pretty good deal now that I have gotten past the puppy training stage.
He has us trained about as good as he will get us and we have him almost where we want him, I think. We all have a working relationship and Mouse now has a big bud to hang paws with. They both seem to like each other alot and to be honest we love 'em both. (but I do wish they wouldn't sleep in my bed as they are bed hogs.)
Nite all, Merry Christmas and God bless.

Now I can see how some would think that torture is cruel and should never be used and what is toture to one may not be to another but the far left has lost it's mind with the bill being put forth on how we should interrogate terrorists now. No yelling at them, no insulting them, no pushing them, we are to treat them with the utmost respect and dignity. We are not to shame them or deprive them in any way.
I guess they think we should sit down to a cup of tea and just ask, "So what are your plans for killing us all? You don't mind sharing them do you? If you do then after you finish you tea allow me to excort you back to your luxury room so you can contemplate the questions we need answered and if you change your mind just pick up the phone and call me."
The way the far left wants these people treated is better than the police treat criminals they question and get confessions from. So we, the common old voter, should be harrased and bullied to get at the truth but not the people who are killing anyone that does not agree with their beliefs. Sounds good to me. How about you? I really do not think these people have a clue as to what the real world is all about. Terrorist are not the people next door, nor do they respect us. They will torture and kill any one of us without a thought. And we are being told to treat them with the utmost respect.
Is it me or are some of the far left so far left they have left the planet? Do they really think that being "nice" to cold blooded killers will stop them? The President elect is having a problem getting a new head of the CIA because no one wants to take on the job for fear they might end up in jail for abusing the prisoners who happen to be terrorist. Now isn't that too cool? If they are too cruel they could face charges and if they are too nice they wont get information so they don't want a job that faces failure all way around.
How far left will we get before we get too far?
Nite all, merry Christmas and God Bless.

I've been watching and listening to the bailout debates. I find it ironic that the Big 3 are more important than the small businesses. When you think about it with an open mind, there are millions of people losing or going to lose their jobs that work for small businesses. Yet these companies are not valued like the Big 3, IGA, Banks, and good old Fannie and Freddie. Because these companies hire a large group all at one time they are more valued.
Now if you think of it on another level, there are 1.5 million people who lost their jobs this last month and most of them worked for smaller companies that cut back or closed because of the economy. How is it that the 1.5 million or the 3 million or any one persons job is any less valued than the ones bailed out or going to be bailed out? Who is the person or persons that make that choice? If you are the person who just lost your job you are not going to be happy hearing how these companies getting fed help so others can keep their jobs as more valued than the job you had.
We have a government making bailouts with money that we will have to pay back and they are picking the companies they want to help. Well, I for one, feel that it is not fair unless they are willing to help out every company that needs help to keep every job for every person that is losing theirs or going to. I see no company that is more valued than another. No income more needed than another. No paycheck that is not needed more than another. I see 1.5 million as just as valued as the thousands of workers at the Big 3.
So who amoung us feels that any job is more important that another, or any company more valued than the one you work at or worked at? Who feels their paycheck is less valued than another? And who wants to keep watching congress bailout the companies with the most votes as veruses the ones with very few? I think that is what they are doing. Buying votes for the next election by bailing out the companies that will give them the most votes, that and the Unions.

O.K., Pelosi now wants to give the Big 3 $75 billion on top of the $25 billion putting our country $1.5 trillion in debt with bailouts. So who voted all those dems in? Who thought they would make such a great change? What is wrong with them? Do they not see we are sinking deeper and deeper into debt with their spending like there is no end?
Just who is going to pay for the debt they are putting us in? Then you have Obama going to use another few trillion to start up energy programs and better the schools putting us further into debt. He is taking over as president with a $10 trillion debt and with his plans and congress they will be adding another $3 trillion. Must be nice to be able to spend and not think of where you will get the money.
I do not know about the rest of you but the worse day in our history was the day we voted in so many dems they forgot who they work for. No drilling for our own oil, destroy the coal industry with fines, and go green and raise our electric bills by about three times what they are. But in the mean time they keep raising taxes on businesses and driving them out of the country or just plain destroying them.
All I can say is God help us because congress has the biggest out of touch people running it that our nation could vote in. Between the congress and Obama we will need all the help we can get so if you believe there is a God I suggest you start praying and praying hard. If you do not believe there is a God pray anyway, it can't hurt and it may help.
Nite all and God bless.

I guess math is not used in government. They still have not caught on that putting a finger in a dike does not fix the crack. The crack is still there and it is only going to get bigger. You can not put money into a business that has an overhead to run greater than it's income. It is along the lines of putting a bandaide on a gash that needs stitches. It wont work. The Big 3, banking and all the rest are still sinking even as congress tells us it is working. I am guessing they think we can not see what is going on.
Look at the companies losing money everyday. They are cutting back on employees, closing down alot of stores, shutting down alot of companies and still our economy is bleeding. Congress extended the unemployment and added more taxes onto to businesses as the business pays into unemployment. They added another burden onto an over burdened system. How does that help? More lost jobs, more unemployment and a larger crack.
When will they learn that when a thing is ruptured you have to repair it with more than a finger in a dike. You have to use math. Math runs computors, business, and budgets. It is what tallies our pay checks, and balances our bank book. You have to use it at some point and time when working with something that is based on math. All they need to do is reduce taxes on businesses, while some businesses make pay cuts and benifit cuts.
Trim down expences not raise them. If you go to the store with $100.00 you can not buy $200.00 in products. If you tried you could not pay the bill. You have to pick what is more important and congress does not get it. Right at this moment we need to create jobs and keep the ones we have. There are few out there without a job who would not be glad for anything rather than nothing. Unemployment is a real pay cut and it doesn't last long, while the benifits suck while on it.
If a company is not earning enough to stay open they are not earning enough for higher taxes, nor the ones they have now. Extended unemployment sounds good but the cost is far greater than the sound. We have companies closing down and when they extended the unemployment they hit the very people they say they want to help. What they need in government is a large group of men and women with knowlege of how businesses work and not people who never ran one and think they can fix it by throwing money into it.
Would you rather take a pay cut, lose a benifit, and keep a job or lose a job and see more companies fold? I know I sound like a know it all but I have family in business and their unemployment taxes just went up again. Some of them had to lay off more workers as they were not making a profit as it was. They talked to the employees and everyone agreed to pay cuts earlier in the year but even that was just a temp fix to prevent layoffs. Now they have to. Some have gone to just family working for them.
If I can figure this out I do not understand why congress can not. So they cut their spending for a few years and cut taxes on companies so they get a little relief to go on until we start our economy back up, who will this hurt? We have seen their plan fall flat on it's face with a resounding boom. Now it is time they rethink their stand on our economy and admit they are wrong before we have a BOOM heard world round.
Congress should take pay cuts and give up dining out, stop using jets to fly from point to point, have less holidays and do like the rest of us, tighten their belts not keep on spending like there is a money tree outside the White House. It is time to face facts, there is too much waiste and not enough brains in congress.

I guess when you reach a certain age you have seen, heard and lived alot of things. From radio as your source of news and everything to the MP3 players and flat screen T.V. but the one thing you never get caught up on is equal rights.
Equal rights, now that is a subject that has been used, abused and expanded, changed and fought for. People have died for their rights, be it voting, or freedom of speech, or just freedom. The definition of equal rights vary from person to person. Conservitives and liberals have diffrent ideas of equal rights, gay and straights have a diffrent view of the subject, christians and athiest have another view of what equal rights means. Races have fought over equal rights.
The truth is without a certain amount of tolerance of others there is no such thing as equal rights. There are certain things that are sacred to all of us, not the same thing but varied. For some it is religion, others it is personal rights, others it is moral rights. Each of us have a diffrent view of what our rights should be. The problem is in order for one group to have their rights protected they remove another groups.
For example, christians want prayer in schools and athiest do not, there are no prayers in school so the athiest rights are protected but in doing so the christian lost the right to practice a form of freedoms. Gays want to have the right to marry, which most people believe is a union between a man and a woman, so in order for one to get it another has to give up a portion of their rights to believe and have a sacred union as they feel it is.
Races have faught from the begining of time over rights, what one sees as a slight another does not. When it comes to equal we have a problem. There really is no equal to anything. Women and men are not the same, nor do they think the same nor do they act the same and in life they are not treated the same, niether do we treat each other the same. We do not allow children the same rights as we do an adult as they are not legal so we make choices for them.
There really is no such thing as equal rights. In forming the laws that each company has to hire an equal number of one minorities over another we get into who is qaulified for the jobs and who is not. Not always are minorities just as qualified as non-minorities. Not always are women the right choice to do certain jobs any more than men, and the color of your skin, the sex, the political views and the religion or lack of one does not qualify anyone for anything. The ability to do the job the best is what should be the quality for choosing who will do it.
The more we adjust and change the equal rights issue the more we lose and most of us do not see this. When we pass a law that takes the right of another to choose we are infringing on the rights of others but we feel it is our right to do so. I have found the fight for equal rights to be a joke on some parts and a very serious issue on other parts. The right to speech, work, religious practices, and life are things I take seriously. I really have found that taking any one of these rights from another person offinsive. I find the majority is not always the majority but minority who picks.
The thing with rights is we all have them and we all want them and we all define them in our own way without regard for others. We each believe it is our right to have what we believe is equal as the rule to go by. Now what makes us right? What makes what we want more equal than what the other person wants as equal? By whose standard do we define what a right really is? When we pick a group we violate another groups rights so where do we stop and stand back and say if it is not against the law then it is a right? If it is constitutional than it is a right? When do we say you have given up your rights?
We have the right to equality yet we do not. Until we can define who has the real right to be right we have no equal right to anything and then it will still not be equal as there will always be some one with rights removed. Equal means to divide in portions of exact measurements, but that is not how it goes with our rights. There is no equal to it. We do not allow 2 days for prayers in school and 2 without with one day of swap. There is not the right to pick a smokers resturant from a non-smokers, nor the right for alot of things that are legal but not.
So the point is there really is not a thing called equal rights because some one has to give up a right for the other to have theirs.

I understand the need to come up with plans for clean energy but at what cost? The solar energy plant in CA is huge, it takes a million+ gallons of water a year to operate. Uses 2000 achers of land, and produces 1% of the energy for FPL. Now that is alot of land and water for 150 megawatts of energy. Concervation is the idea behind clean energy and I am led to ask what are we conseving? Not land, nor water and for as little eletric as they put out not energy. So I have come to the conclution it is air and some ones pocket book as we would have to strip all forrest, and brush around them so they would get maximum sunlight to produce. http://www.fplenergy.com/portfolio/solar/facts.shtml

2000 achers for 1% of an energy plants eletric. It would take 200,000 achers to supply the full power level of 100% and 100million+ gallons of water to run. Now to power the whole of our country by wind, solar and hydro it would take how much land and water? I am seeing problems already with this plan. Hydro makes sense as it harnesses water flowing in its natural habitat but solar seems to need alot of land and water that is unusable for anything else. We have been using hydro power plants for years but the solar and wind make me wonder.
Years ago we use to be able to by wind power machines for our yards until the government and power plants found out it cut into their taxes and profits and outlawed them. If left legal at some point we would have had enough in yards to cut most of our dependence on alternate energy. So we have the government to thank for that. Just as the solar plants are not something that makes logical sense because of what it takes to make them big enough to operate where they can supply enough energy to power a town and we would have to depend on sunny days or they revert to gas to run.
Now, solar panels on homes makes more sense. They require less space, operate on roofs or sheds or can be placed on the ground but the cost is out of reach for most people. That would be the way to go. But then again it would cut into taxes and profits so I understand why they still cost so much to buy. If the government was truely wanting to clean the air they would allow the windmills again as they are cheaper to buy and alot of places have plenty of wind. They are not the most attactive units but they do produce energy and are an answer to energy problems.
So now we have to ask ourselfs a few questions. If the government is so bent on clean energy why ban so many products to the public that would save energy? why are carberators that get 70+ MPG not being used? Why do personal solar panels cost so much? Why not invest money in placing solar panels on homes instead of taking up millions of achers and water to run solar power plants? Why not allow windmills if people can afford them? Could it be a loss of money in some ones pockets and not ours? I have alot of questions and I would love to hear the government answer them.
Now turbo windmills cost a big chunk of money. But they have places you can look up that sale books on building one of your own for about $200.00 and the investment of around $40.00 for the book on how to do it yourself. So for about $240.00 you can build a unit for yourself. That makes sense to me.
