Mexico border open or closed?

The Denver District Attorney has charged four men who are accused of renting cars with fake IDs and then never returning them.
Ismael Marrufo, Ramiro Escarsega, Zerafin Munoz-Lozano, and Marco Nunez-Peralta are in the Denver County Jail.
Investigators say the men rented the most expensive vehicles available like Escalades and Hummers and then drove the SUVs and cars to Mexico. They targeted Payless, Budget, and Hertz rental car companies.
Lt. Ron Saunier with the Denver Police Department said, "One particular outlet feels like they have had over a million dollars loss."
The charges are the result of an investigation that took Denver Police detectives at DIA several months to complete.
According to the probable cause statements, this is an extension of a ring operating out of Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona.
Border Patrol in has recovered a number of the vehicles as people attempt to drive them into Mexico.
And they say we don't need to do more at the border to stop the illegals.  Now not only have they gotten rich off of our country again they will be taken care of by the tax payers. Just like that illegal that drug his girlfriend to death. He is eating up our tax dollars in prison. Yet we continue to argue as to what we should do about the border. There is no argument we need to put land mines there and close the border to all in coming and out going traffic.

Could we add some machine gun turrets? The illegals are well treated in this country, in fact better than most legals. I really don't know what the US is afraid of with the Mexican government. Before anyone says they are not all Mexicans it is the fact illegals are coming over the US/Mexican border in masses.

I agree that the majority is from Mexico and they are the ones demanding that they deserve what we are paying for. All I see in the news is what crimes they have committed. Why it is there is nothing good about them? I will tell you because they do nothing good for this country that they came into illegally.

We need to do something and it needs to be done quick. When will this government see that we will no longer be America the greatest country in the world? When will they stop these illegals from committing crimes and hiding behind the American laws while they run back to Mexico to escape prosecution? It is time that we as Americans make our government stand for us the American Citizen not the illegals beggars.

We have become a kinder, gentler nation. So the machine guns at the border won't wash.... unfortunately. I've said it many times, I love my country but we are our own worst enemy.
Something needs to be done because it has become more than a few looking for a better life. It has become a buisness and in large a part of organized crime.
I say the same as Boogy..... Leave a few to rot along the border. Send a message. I doubt we'll suffer another Alamo!

I agree with figurative land mines... But I think a realistic solution would be either a 'Great Wall of Uncle Sam' or my idea of creating burms along the entire border creating a natural obstruction, then lining (on our side) watch towers with armed National Guard of each respective state every couple of miles... rubber bullets/loud speakers to warn off regular crossers, and AT-4s, 7.62 machine guns for the drug dealers which would be identified by them shooting back. Of course none of our ideas will fly because America's congress is full of f-ing morons.

How could you ever dream of using our guard in that capacity. My, my.
I'll betcha without even asking that the National guard from I don't care which state would have an overflowing list of volunteers to man the towers. Monies are good, the bennies aren't bad and they give you a gun. Half of the cats involved, me included,(I'm not guard), make more doing their training than they do at their civilian job!
Got that part covered, all we gotta do is push the burms.

You guys are funny, yet you have some of the best ideas. If they took the money that they are spending on the new fence and the welfare they would have the money to protect the citizens better. Our congress is full of morons true. But these are the morons that are banking off of the illegals being here. The more we want them out the more money they ask from us to do that, yet they don't follow through and keep the money that was set aside for this problem. The citizens need to take control of congress and it seems to me that if we want to keep out border safe we need to do it our self and stop giving money to the lying politicians.

Closed, and militarized! We need to act EXACTLY as the Mexican government does on its Southern border... Shoot them on site or lock them up forever.

Funny how Mexican authorities want an open border to their north but not in the south... I guess the same argument they give to us, the Central and South American folks give to them....

Abunai - very true. The unfortunate part of this is that so much of America has bought into the hoopla of giving everything away. I want to know who the heck is going to stand up to Bush about the murderer in Texas that he wants to pardon. This is not just about stopping the roaches from getting in, but it is about taking care of the ones that are already here.
Your Denver Mayor should be on trial as a criminal. Of course, so should President Bush. What is happening to our country is a travesty but until people - every day rational thinking people start making the phone calls - nothing will change. Demonstrate - speak up! What do we do? I make the phone calls and I know there has got to be more to it than that. It is time to organize - seriously organize. What will it take - some crazy person shooting up the local taco bell? The point is, if not us - who? If not now - when? Something has to be done and I am just not sure what steps are going to be the most effective to get our governments attention.

at the time that the Irish, Jews, Polish and Italians came in, they came LEGALLY. They did not demand everything to be given to them, they worked for it. Teaching in their language was not done, food and housing was not done, they worked for it. The illegals form Mexico demand.

I am a firm believer in securing both borders, at any cost. We need to stop the bleeding before treating the wound. I am part mexican and do not share the beliefs of many others who feel that illegals contribute to our economy; thus offsetting any negativity they produce. Please show me one study/survey that proves this to be true; and not one conducted by the mexican rights institute(a name for all mexican civil groups). Just as I would love to see an unbiased study/survey that proves illegals work at jobs Americans won't take--another false claim until proven.
One of the most ridiculous claims I have heard is that the crime rate for illegals is lower than the national average. Doesn't this simply say that they DO commit crimes and if they were not here, our overall number of crimes would be lower than it currently is? Besides, who actually keeps track of such statistics; certainly not those cities that do not even ask if someone caught committing a crime is even an illegal!
When it comes to congress trying to resolve the problem--I am still laughing over that one. Wanting to spend billions and billions on giving out these silly little cards to all, even those currently in prison. As illogical as it sounds--isn't it better to just spend that vast amount of money of actually tracking all illegals--of every nationality--down and physically deporting them. With a secured border in place--they may actually consider the possibility of coming back in a legal manner--or just stay the hell out.
