Is anyone else already feeling the effects of next week's little "party" here in Denver? The building that I work in downtown (which shall remain nameless) has some wild idea that we're going to be bombed or something. I realize that management is just following the guidelines put forth by the DNC for all buildings in the general area, but this is ridiculous! Not only do we have to show our ID and sign in and out every time we go through the lobby, but we've been instructed to bring in extra food, etc.. in case we're locked in and can't leave. What scenario could possibly merit such actions? I've known those security guards for 10 years. I was working in that building before they ever started working there. Is the possibility of some foreigner faking my looks that real? If we get bombed, what good would a piece of paper be saying that we signed in to go to work? If a terrorist decided that our building would be a good target, what good is checking an ID when they'll just use a fake one? What could happen that would prevent any of us going home? Why would they insist that we stay at work and eat canned food and sleep on carpet that hasn't been cleaned in God knows how long instead of going home to our loved ones? I could have swore that the Mayor told us that it will be business as usual? Personally, I can't wait for next week to be but a memory....
