President Bush made remarks and participated in a photo opportunity with WNBA Champions the Phoenix Mercury at the White House. The team made history in the 2007 WNBA season both with their 23-11 win-loss ratio, a record in the Western Conference, and by becoming the first WNBA team to win a championship on the road.

Later, President Bush met with the 2008 Presidential Scholars.
