Yes you should allow pot to be smoked at DIA in the lounge.  I, for one, am a legal marijuana patient.  I deal with pain and nausea daily.  When I fly I get very sick because I can not use or transport marijuana through the airport without it being a federal offense.  There are a great deal of patience that need it for medical reasons that people will be surprised. It should be approved.  It is a much calmer affect then alcohol.  I think the flight would be much calmer and you wouldnt have the obnoxious person if alcohol was not allowed on the flight.  I would rather see that.

If it is declared a legal drug in Denver and Colorado, why is it being discriminated against at the Denver DIA lounge.  I am 51 years of age and marijuana saved my life.  I was so sick that I could not eat or deal with my pain.  I had gotten down to just bones and was dying.  Two years ago my doctors told me I probably would die because I was so sick.  Once I started marijuana as a legal patient, I started to eat and was relieved of some of my pain.  Some folks believe this is bogus and it is just a way to legalize marijuana, they are wrong.  I am not a mean person but sometimes I hope the folks that have no idea, get really sick and marijuana will save their life.  It did mine and I am very serious about how it did and I am thankful every day that god showed me the way to use marijuana or I would not be here today.  Some folks are so closed minded it is amazing in this free world.

Yes, it should be allowed at DIA.

I'm sorry you're sick Skanderson. But do you really think the smoking lounge at DIA will be banned and replaced with a reefer lounge? I don't think so! I repeat, if you can't handle a simple plane ride without freaking out, then take a train. If it's really that bad, and you have to get your dope on...do it at home.

"Marijuana saved my life" WOW if I had a dollar for every time I heard that I would have had college paid for twice over! I have never "experimented" with ILLEGAL drugs! I have however had plenty of friends that did smoke the EDIT on a regular basis. You know where they are today? Ill tell you still sitting in the basement of a crappy appartment getting stoned and having dead end job after dead end job. They have trouble paying rent every month because they spend the majority of their money on marijuana. You say it is the only thing that eased your pain try death. You are putting your body in the same state as being drunk minus the mood swings. Alcohol enhanses the mood you are in where as marijuana robbs your brain of blood and oxygen putting you in a dazed and confused state. I do not care to be around drunks or pot heads. Both groups have their problems and side effects, we just tend to forget them when we push to legalize something. Would you be for dropping the drinking age in order to legalize pot? Do you want to be on the road with a high driver? Drunk or high neither is safe! Not to mention talk to a high school kid pot is easier to get that alcohol. What message do we want to send our children?
Heres a bone, alcohol help some people cope with the pains of life but society looks down on an alcoholic. Smoking helps others deal with the pain of their everyday life. Smokers have become limited to where they can smoke. Drunks are limited to drinking at home or a bar but not in their car and driving drunk. What restrictions do you propose should be

the ā€œiā€ in dia indicates denver's is an international airport .... and internationally all countries' agencies are spending zillions trying to eradicate illegal drug trafficking.

what is the name of your illness? there are legal medications which work equally well if not better for pain and nausea. like many herbs there is no standard set for it content ..... if it were not so then using would not be a federal offense.

world and federal laws trump the state at this point

STUPID people make me laugh! You want to legalize marijuana, gay marriages etc. what is next? Why even have laws if these freaks are going to come out and try and make everything legal? LAWS are LAWS!! Face it you are a stoner and cant give up your bad habits. The whole medical reasoning behind the drug is nothing but a crock. DaveG1 you are totally correct when you say that alcoholics drink to cope with pains of life. Not that it is right but it is true. Do you see all the drunks getting together plotting so you can drink and drive at the same time? NO so why should all the stoners get together and cry to legalize this?
SKANDERSON'S what do you do for a job? Do you have one. I would almost put money on it that you dont, cause the pain is still too bad or you just cant FOCUS!!
DONT WANT TO BE SO NEGATIVE BUT THESE ARE MY OPINIONS.

EMS202 yes I do hold a job. I could not work at my job anymore due to the pain and nausea but I taught myself a new way to earn money. While I was so sick I knew I had to find a way and I taught myself how to trade stock options. Yes I am stupid remember. No I am not living in the gutter. I do not ask for the state or federal government to support me. I am very successful at what I do now and have always made a lot of money. I make a lot of money yearly, have a wonderful home, wonderful family. I am a single mom that owns many houses and my kids understand why I do it. They saw me dying in the hospital for a year and see me now living life. No I am not a someone that is in the gutter. Talk about closed minded. I am also a christian and believe in god. You guys do not understand my illness and yes it saved my life. Yes, I have tried every herb in the world and every medical drug(because I was dying). I tried a medical drug that the doctors said would work and guess what, I broke all the vertebraes in my back during the year, spent 2 years in bed and am now learning to walk again. I have fought hard to get where I am today and most doctors never gave me a change to live. But I am and I support myself. That has been a struggle but go ahead and blast me. Like I said, you guys do not understand the use of medical marijuana. Folks are dying and it is saving lives. And what do you think I say "yes" drive while under the influence of drugs. No I do not propose that. I propose safe use of the drugs. No I do not propose that kids use it. And no I am not stupid. I b

Interesting...i dont know one person who smokes marijuana that is sitting in a basement wasting their lives away...My fiance and I have been smoking since we were in high school and both of us have Awesome paying jobs, we own our own home, 4 vehicles and will be starting a family soon (and i am only 23 years old)...same with pretty much everyone else I know who smokes marijuana...if someone is wasting their life and going from "dead end job to dead end job" then that person or people have chosen that path in life and absolutely cannot blame weed for their actions...weed does NOT make you stupid or lazy....you are like that to begin with and are just using weed as an excuse for you behavior and poor life choices...by the way...if we do legalize it, then we can better regulate it and keep it out of kids hands...i am not proud of smoking since i was in highschool and i tell all of my neices/nephew, cousins etc to be responsible and focus on their education MOST OF ALL....

I certainly do not want someone lighting up a joint and exposing me to the smoke. Yes I tried it and it made me so depressed so now you want to expose me to something that may make me suicidal? My ex smoked a lot and he would get violent. So for all those that say it does not alter your mood, think again.

SKANDERSON, if you are in that much pain, why are you flying. Pain is the body's of saying there is something wrong, if you keep doing this you will pay. I had severe pain and could not eat which lead to everything from bad teeth to not being able to do anything. I finally found a doctor that is treating my problems and what she can't she sends me to someone that can. Drugs are not the answer, be they prescribed or illegal.

Caer you would not be exposed to the smoke there will be a lounge. Why do I fly. Because I would like to do something besides stay home. Ok if I am in pain I cant fly. You guys amaze me. I wish you would just be intelligent on the topic. If I am in pain, you shouldnt fly. Do you know why I fly. To go to a doctor in NY that has helped. Oh I guess I cant do that. Caer, you have it, the reason I use marijuana is so I could eat due to the pain and nausea and it got my health back. I was bones and nothing any doctor/alternative, would work. Nothing, I repeat nothing worked. You dont even know what I have been through and to tell me drugs are not the answer either way. I have spent 1000s of dollars on doctors, alternative doctors, herbs, etc. You guys are so naive it surprises me there are really folks out there like you. Oh and I would bet that your ex also drank when he smoked. It was the alcohol and not the pot that changed his mood in a violent way. If you would have smoked pot for your pain you would have eaten and not lost your teeth. Do you drink or smoke. They are worse then smoking marijuana at least that does something medically for a lot of folks. Medical drugs are poison. To be classified as a drug it has to be poison. I say folks have the right to use what heals them and I dont care what it is . If it works for them and heals them, do it.

Wow, the negative statements in these comments all have so much passion. It is as if, those speaking could hide their ignorance with strong condemnations of any one with a different opinion. I, also am disabled, and live in a state that doesn't have medical marijuana, I was able to continue working for thirteen years, because of marijuana use. I don't understand the opposition, if marijuana was a bad as the government claims there would be millions of zombies in this country. Their zeal in their arguments seems to come more from a fear of being wrong. The slightest honest investigation will show that 99% of what the government says is out right propaganda, and the laws are still being used for their original purpose. A tool used for discrimination and to promote corporate greed. I could go on for pages. As far as the DIA is concerned, the time will come for that. For now I'd just eat a bunch of brownies.

skanderson: I do not smoke or drink and my ex did not drink. I am skin and bones and have great pain due to the medical profession but I have learned to deal with it. So you are saying that all airports need to put in marijuana lounges, yeah that's great. All the druggies can say I need to do this for my pain. They have pills that have TCH in them, why do you smoke? is it so you can get lung cancer? One joint is equal to 1-2 packs of cigarettes.

Caer, the THC pills, do not work like smoking a joint and have been determined to have serious side effects, like all man made synthetic drugs. And the only link to cancer has been as a preventive measure or cure. The brain cancer that T. Kennedy has is a perfect example. Marijuana stops the blood supply to those cells only and the cancer just dies off. All of your statements come from government propaganda, not factual studies. The government is interested in protecting the pharmaceutical industry, who cannot patent a natural product. The alcohol industry, who kill thousand every year and would lose business if the people had a choice. The oil industry would lose business has marijuana produces the the second best biofuel right behind algae, and we wouldn't be taking food off the table to convert corn into ethanol. This government was bought and paid for long ago by big corporations and the last thing on the mind is what is best for the individual citizen.

Make some brownies or smoke your joints before you get to the airport.

Marijuana does increase your appetite and it's been proven to be a highly effective muscle relaxer. That aside, there's no reason we should have special lounges at the airport for marijuana smokers.

I do wish the government would legalize marijuana on the federal level and regulate the sale on the federal level. It would do wonders to keep illegal immigrants from crossing the border to profit from the sale of marijuana. It would also prevent a multi-billion dollar illegal drug industry from profiting, and would most likely destroy their illegal trade operation. Also, US citizens would benefit greatly from the increased tax revenue.
