I was present at the Viera Courthouse
today for the Christine Abrams pre-trial
conference concerning the cruelty
visited by her on Ella, her German
Shepherd that she left to starve to death
in her Cocoa home. I was pleasantly
surprised to see that a decent group
of fellow animal-rights supporters were
present, holding signs and rallying
for the maximum sentence for Abrams.

I had no idea that the case was being followed by such committed people including
a delightful young woman named Holly.
Unfortunately, what I had learned today
only served to outrage me even more.
Through the site that Holly informed
me about,

http://voicesforella.org/links.html

I also learned that this poor animal lost a leg
before her death due to the negligent leashing
to a door because "she was barking too much"

Well, looks like she is dropping her "not guilty" plea for guilty/no contest plea since
her schmuck lawyer can't find a defense for her. I will be out there again on Dec 4th at
8:00AM where she will plea and go directly to sentencing. If all the stars are aligned, she will hopefully spend one year in jail. I think
this would be a great precedent for other
cases like this.

I would also like to thank Lauren Lapoinzina(sp?) for being there to cover this case...she looks GREAT in person!

Thanks for reading.

This is the one where the owner of a beautiful
white German Shepherd named Ella, left her dog to die of
starvation in her vacant apartment when she
moved out. Her defense...her new roommate did
not like dogs! Hey too bad! You find another home
for it moron! I'm tired of seeing animals left behind
because of YOUR irresponsibility and living situation...try NOT being a pet owner in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!! They'd
be far better off!!!!!!!

If you are not familiar to this case and are an
animal lover, you might not want to read on, if
you are then you know the rage you felt
when you first heard of it.

Now, I'm not going to swear, cuss and moan
here but, this case lit me up like a dried out
Christmas Tree with too many bulbs on it!!!!

According to the report, Ms. Abrams was kind
enough to leave food and water three feet
away from the cage that the dog was locked up in.
When they found the poor girl, it was dead,
arms extended out of the cage apparently reaching
for the food and water in a desperate attempt
to save it's own life!

The case is so ridiculously un-defendable
that she even lost her attorney over it...

July 9, 2008,

"The animal cruelty case against Christine Abrams -- the central Florida woman accused of starving her dog Ella to death by leaving her behind, locked in her crate, when she moved -- is far from over. During today's hearing (Wednesday, July 9), defense attorney Andrew Stine asked the Brevard County judge to withdraw, saying she signed an order involving the case without his knowledge.

Stine earlier tried to have the case thrown out of court based on police procedure, saying the officers who entered Abrams' house did not have a warrant. Neighbors had called police about two months after Abrams had moved out, after noticing a foul odor coming from the house. Looking through a window, they saw Ella's dead body still locked in the crate. Abrams later said she left the dog behind because her new roommate did not like pets.

Here was the story filed earlier today by Orlando Sentinel reporter Laurin Sellers:

VIERA — A hearing in Christine Abrams’ animal-cruelty case ended abruptly Wednesday when her attorney asked Brevard County Judge Kelly Jo McKibben to withdraw from the highly publicized case. McKibben postponed the proceedings to give attorney Andrew Stine time to put his request in writing.

It was uncertain when McKibben would respond, or when the hearing on a defense motion to toss out key evidence would resume.

Abrams, 30, is accused of moving out of her Cocoa home late last year and leaving her dog, Ella, to die in a locked crate without food or water. Police found the dead dog in March after neighbors smelled a foul odor. She is charged with two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and could face a year in the county jail and a $5,000 fine if convicted.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Stine said McKibben spoke Tuesday with Brevard Assistant State Attorney Michael Raska and signed an order without the defense attorney’s knowledge. Raska said he contacted the judge about a mislabeled packet of case law he submitted during a previous hearing.

"The defense is trying to play every trick in the book," said Holly Gann, one of more than 60 animal lovers who packed into the courtroom. "He has no case and he knows it."

Well, this case isn't over for this unconscionably
cruel idiot yet...she has a hearing in Viera on
October 28 at 9:00AM. I for one will be there
and hope to see this heartless stain go to jail for at
least 3 years. This to me is the animal equivalent
to Caylee Anthony as pictures were shown of the good
times the two had you know... the pictures where they
put their heads together in the pic and smile?
Unfortunately they actually found the body in this case.

I won't wish death or starvation unto Ms. Abrams as her beloved pet, even in her own death, wouldn't want to see that done to her because she would still unconditionally
love her.  BTW...I'm pi$$ed at the neighbors for not
hearing this dog struggle to death. The only time
they called authorities was when they smelled a
foul odor eminating from the apartment...Brain Dead
Buffoons! I'm sure they heard the poor animal
screaming in agony!

Received this email just a while ago...sounds really bad!

ABOUT AREA CODE

We actually received a call last week from the 809 area code. The woman said 'Hey, this is Karen. Sorry I missed you--get back to us quickly. I Have something important to tell you.' Then she repeated a phone number beg inning with
809 . 'We didn't respond'.

Then this week, we received the following e-mail:

Subject: DONT DIAL AREA CODE
809 , 284 AND 876

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T DIAL AREA CODE
809

This one is being distributed all over the US . This is pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get you to call.

Be sure you read this and pass it on.
They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has-been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc.
In each case, you are told to call the 809 number right away. Since there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return these calls.

If you call from the
US , you will apparently be charged $2425 per-minute.

Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. Unfortunately, when you get your phone bill, you'll often be charged more than
$24,100.00

WHY IT WORKS:

The 809
area code is located in the British Virgin Islands (The Bahamas). the dominican actually
The charges afterwards can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong.

Please forward this entire message to your friends, family and colleagues to help them become aware of this scam

I'm a 37 y.o. male originally from Ft.Lauderdale, FL. Love flying, drums, PC modding, friends and family and animals. I stand in support for animal rights and believe that stricter sentencing should be given to those that cause cruel deaths to their pets even though their pets would never do this since they love their owners unconditionally.
