does anyone else feel that we are a totally over-medicated society?   my mother takes pills to counteract the negative effects of other pills she takes.  my mother in law died from taking neurontin.  my wife doesn't feel good if she doesn't take the narcotics prescribed to her.  she has high blood pressure, and migraines, but nothing that would cause chronic pain.  i take no prescriptions, and feel generally well every day.  opinions please.

parents:

is it just me, or are csap tests a waste of resources?  in my experience with FOUR kids in aps and then dps, it seems that the only time school administration is really interested, is during csap time.  i grow tired of these tests being so hyped, just to send notice home later that the same % of kids who couldn't read or write last year, still can't this year.  as a parent, i personally view csap as a distraction to what could be as quality as an education as my kids can get. through public schooling.

also i do not support private school vouchers because even if i could get all of my kids in, some of their peers would still have to be educated publically.  and if the education is substandard, all of our children have to be loosed on the world eventually.

can we stop basing our political beliefs on one or two issues that pertain directly to us?  i may be wrong, but in my converasations with peers,  only one or two issues dominate political choices.  for example, i have a co worker, who in all opinions, would seem a democrat, but states that he could not vote for a dem because they support gay marriage!  as my teen would text, EDIT!  do we really have to throw out the baby with the bathwater like this?  your opinions would be great
