Ok so I am sure there are many people like myself who woke up to an amazing lightning show along with some serious rain fall.  I don't think I have ever seen a storm like this one up by Jeffco Airport.  I remember storms in Littleton but not up north.  There was about 2.5 inches of water in our dogs' water bowl.  The thunder was very loud and frightening.  It was like a horror movie, you didn't need to turn on the lights because there was plenty and the house trembled as you walked through.  Very spooky but oh we so needed that moisture...plus I have been kind of lazy with the watering of my lawn.  So how was your experience?  Please share I don't think we see this type of weather too often.  I do wonder how much lightning we really experienced last night...anyone?

We hear the pitter patter of 'splot splot splot' like a huge drippin faucet hit the window sills on our third floor apt. .We..don't even have to look out but I do get up and open the screens for the fresh smell of rain hittin the pavement far below..then the rush of steamin asphalt and rain pouring into the gutters. ..As for me, I grew up with thunderstorms. Its been so very dry here that I so look forward to the rain..as we don't often have quiet rains..A lotta vergo or vertigo whatever it never quite makes the ground..how sad. So I look forward Gods Angels bowling...and count the numbers with precise 1 - 2- and 3 and 4 Then the shaking heavens...Four miles away..It is a great psychology to see how far away the storm is...and makes great sleeping Pull another pillow over and snuggle up As for lightening strikes, there is a weather map of all the lightening strikes in Colorado and it is gotta be number ONE with that one..Ask someone if that has something to do with the Rockies and the air flow over them warming and cooling..I am not the expert but learned to sleep thru storms long ago...counting 1 2 3 and 4..Like counting sheep. ...

I was sound asleep and the crack of thunder and flash of lightning woke me up. The storm seemed to hover over my neighborhood (near Jeffco Airport) for quite a long time, with great gusts of wind and heavy rain. The huge elm tree in my back yard was my biggest concern: I'd hate to lose the lovely Druid tree and boy, that would just about wipe out our house or a neighbor's.

Taurusz:

I distinctly remember that t-storm. The lightning display was incredible - and the thunder nearly shook me out of my chair. Thunderstorms like this are signatures of Monsoon season. Frequent lightning and torrential rain are two halmarks of Colorado during August.
