This blog is inspired by the news that there is an "underground movement" being brought to fore by "hip hop" that sends out the message "stop snitching."

I'm done trying to be understanding and PC. Hear me out before you start screaming and PLEASE tell me what I am missing... if you can handle doing so without name-calling.

I am furious. I am going to try my best to communicate my points, but will likely have to reword some things. But here goes:

"My race" has been force fed the idea that we are bad bad bad and to be condemned to eternity's hell fires because of the ALLEGED sins of our fathers. Yes I said alleged. Smarts, doesn't it? No, I am not implying slavery didn't happen, but I'd recommend your reading a post that covers slavery issues WORLDWIDE before you fire off.

We were told to STOP segregation. INTEGRATE! Equal! One for all and all for one. Okay. Done. Not enough? Will it ever really be enough? No. It will never be enough. Ever.

As atonement we have shelled out trillions of dollars in support and special programs - NOT available to whites. The hands remain upturned and reaching out for more.

I have had to listen to YOUR vernacular infiltrate English, and now "EDIT" and "b!tch" thanks to your hip hop has become a common description of every female. Our white husbands can no longer defend us without being accused of being racist. What a lovely contribution to the American culture. Don't it just make you proud? Is that REALLY what you want associated with yourselves? What would MLK have said?????????????? TRULY?

Every time ANY black in Pinellas is in ANY altercation with the PO-lice the Uhuru group steps in. Seems to me that by bypassing local law enforcement and handing over any "evidence" they find to the AG's office they MAY be hindering investigations...but I don't know. They tend to make up their own rules anyhow.

What I am HEARING is crime happens alot in the black community but NO ONE is guilty of crime in the black community. Maybe it's the media doing that... But it's kind of a sick conflict when you get into it.

What say we divide America. Equal but SEPARATE. Is that what you were after all along?

The blacks - like the whites - fund their own law enforcement, that way they can have law enforcement they can "trust" - whites don't have to fear for their lives by responding to calls for help in black neighborhoods (or vice versa). Let's face it, being called out to "catch the bad guy" only to find that the bad guy is black and nobody wants to snitch him out 'cause you're a white officer ain't gonna' fix nuthin'.

You can't control what these faction groups do or say? Oh, I beg to differ with you. You demanded WE get groups like the KKK and white supremicists and whatever other knuckleheads we have under control. You associate every white with these groups, (we must ALL apologize and atone) but YOU aren't aligned with the Black Panthers or Uhurus or YOUR extreme groups? Well, turnabout is FAIR play don't you think?

You can't have it both ways, and THAT is what you want isn't it? If it's not, well, it's time to get together as a group and figure out what face you really want to show to the nation and the world. Because these loud factions are getting ALL the press.

Being the poor simple mixed breed mutt that I am, I will NEVER understand the point to burning down your own homes and businesses to make a statement. I will never understand riots and violence as a means of proving your point. (What was the point anyway? Trying to prove how ANGRY you are? Quit pushing. The "other side" is starting to push back. Don't believe me? Think about how hotly defensive some can get about symbols you perceive as offensive ... Getting more visible these days... But it's just a symptom.)

I am NOT about hate. Reread my words. They are FRUSTRATION at being forcefed like a goose for pate liver. We have bigger issues than RACE to deal with now. Put your big boy boxers and your big girl panties on.

What VISION is it you have that we are supposed to be embracing? If someone could PLEASE yank logic from the jaws of chaos and explain it where my simple mind can grasp it, I would appreciate it.

I'd sign off with my assigned hip hop name but I still have some modicum of pride.

There is a sub-culture which scares the hell out of most who are not part of it.

A comment on my blog was what type guns all the "youth" carry. A warning has been issued warning against the "celebratory gunfire" which now accompanies "happy" gathering!

No snitches means no witnesses, no arrests and the crime spirals out of control (victimizing the very people trapped in the neighborhood)..

Let's hope this is one of the many "trends" and will past before we are involved in class warfare.

One on my personal hero's was Dr. King and he is disgusted and horrified at what he sees from above.

From MLK's I have a Dream Speech:

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

In a perfect world none of the past would have ever happened and in a perfect world we would all be able to get along no matter what the color of the skin. To bad we don't live in a perfect world. We can't undo the past BUT we have the power to make the future better not only for each other but for the kids we leave as our future. If we teach our kids to hate and to judge because of the color of a persons skin have we learned anything from the past? It's a shame that the dream that Dr MLK had is turning into just that . A dream. Let's hope that somewhere down the line we can find peace on earth . If not for ourselves at least for our kids. They ARE our future.

Oh Janice, this new hip hop "don't snitch" thing is GEARED to the kids by the ADULTS in the business! How in the world will the responsible parents out shout the voice of the hip hop community and the groups supporting this movement?

You KNOW which side the kids will be drawn to...'cause "it's cool."

We are confronted regularly with appalling statistics from the black communities, and how worse it is there for crime, single parent households, no support, etc.... Can you really hope that as bad as things are at this stage we can anticipate those same parents to step in now and prevent further deterioration?

It's been let go for so long....

The image of Mr. King is paraded and bandied about, but his words are nothing more than an echo of a memory now. The new voice of the people is carried by Al, Louis, Joe, and many, many others. The perspective and intent ahs changed, as have the goals and desires.

These "adults" that are turning our kids into the "cool" side might just be taken down by their own kind one day when it comes back to haunt them. What they are teaching the kids to do may just be their own downfall one day if one day they just might need that someone to do some "snitching" if they happen to end up on the wrong side of the crime. What's that old saying about "what goes around comes around". This just might come back to bite them in the butt and I really hope it does. Let's see who has the last laugh then.

I'm just afraid that bite in the butt would be turned and twisted and SOMEHOW it would be all the white man's fault. Again.

Justification: It wouldn't have been necessary if we had never been enslaved.

Granted, that's a bit twisted, but you KNOW it's gonna' happen. It already is with everything else.

No accountability. Got a race card. Got an excuse.

UGH!

Is there a faction of the black community that disagrees with their extremist groups?

If so, do their voices outnumber (I didn't say out shout) the extremist groups?

Why does the press not focus more on them than the extremist groups?

Why is the "other side" only being shown the loud side?

I am terrified of voting for a man who has extremist groups voting for him. Regardless of what he says, his past dictates he has heard what they have said.

So what is this "change?" I am too ticked off to be too afraid to ask.

Follow the money. It's all about money and damn the consequences. Plus, some folks are always looking for trouble when they really need hobbies. These are the protest groups; the Al Sharptons. Any reason to put on a show, get recognized, and make money.

Now I'm no advocate of White folks. As a group, I don't trust 'em. I suppose that's racist but history does bear me out. But I'm certainly against any reparations for anyone living because of what was done to their ancestors. Makes no sense; it's the money. Again. As usual.

What fools these mortals be.

I always heard that your rapper name was your first pet and the first street you lived on.

So I guess I'm Itchy Cherry Tree.

...or was that for stripper names?

(BeeBop Parkdale? Oh shoot me now Jumps... but then again, it's far better than the choice of the two assigned ones - LOL)

As I suspected Vittorio... the almighty dollar. (Hope you are well sir.) My great grandmother had to deal with racial issues - her own biracial marriage set enough tongues to wagging, and her marriage was not considered "legal" in its time because of race!

I sit here listening to the news and am STUNNED to hear that there were 150-300 witnesses to the shooting but NO ONE is stepping forward.

How does that look for the community there???? Really? It's appalling. And the parents are right there letting it "go down." I hold little hope for race relations if this is a sign of where things are heading. Surely it is NOT Dr. King's dream.

Is it really so far off to see America facing yet another civil war? Is it? I AM concerned. I saw Dr. King's hope, I'd still like to see it... but all this HATE propagated. I am SO frustrated by it.

The "witnesses" will not talk to the police but will only go through their own attorney, supplied by the Uhuru's and deal directly with the State's Attorney's Office.

Now, I suspect their "testimony" will about as worthless as the story OJ told. They may as well keep with their "code of silence".

The culture is awful but when it spills into other neighborhoods self defense may be the only option.

I can see this problem spiraling out of control if drastic changes are not made and the "race war" that Charles Manson predicted in "Helter Skelter" may be closer than we know.

I have to say I am on the same page with you Yellowdog.

The Angry and Embittered Black Voice that Dr. King warned about has gained too much momentum to stop, and the White Faction who has been forcefed PC and been told how horrid he is for decades is about to the edge; he is defintiely showing signs of pushing back.

It won't be pretty.

God help us all should anything happen thiselection season that could be the match to the poweder keg. There are scenarios that cannot be discussed in open forum (so much for freedom of speech, eh?) that COULD occur - and as a nation we are wholly unprepared, even though recent history tells us we should be VERY prepared.

Burn baby, burn.

We've seem it before and I pray we don't see it again.

Hillary talked about it so we can too.

There are those with so much hatred for anyone different than themselves, skinheads, RWNJ radicals, religious zealots, and mentally ill people that Obama will be in constant danger.

We have seen how impossible it is to protect a President from a nutjob.

If he is assassinated, we may never recover fully as a country. Let us pray that his protection is foremost on the minds of the Secret Service.

My fears, stated. There's just a part of me so conditioned not to even speak of such things...it's borders sacriligious. Go figure. But I'm really getting frightened and when I get frightened I get uber-ticked. I start asking questions and BOOM I become a mouthy little thing. :P

Is it remotely possible, and here's where an armchair psychologist would be appreciated, that on a subconscious level, since the Civil War was fought "between whites 'about' blacks" (yes, I know that was not the exact reason, but it IS the popular conception) that there is now a subconcious desire in the black community to "redo" the war and "fight for themselves" and thus claim the victory TRULY as "their own" and not one won FOR them?

Should Obama be elected, care in ways never before considered needs to be taken in selection of his running mate. Who would be third inline - is that Speaker of the House? (God help me I should know this but who IS Speaker of the House and when does his term end? I'm too pooped to Google a thing right now.)

I woke up. I looked it up. Is it right? From what I am seeing, only two are somehow "elected by the people" right?

The Vice President
Speaker of the House
President pro tempore of the Senate
Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General
Secretary of the Interior
Secretary of Agriculture
Secretary of Commerce
Secretary of Labor
Secretary of Health and Human Services
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Secretary of Transportation
Secretary of Energy
Secretary of Education
Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Secretary of Homeland Security

We have watched Good Day Tampa Bay and Fox News 13 since it became Fox many, many years ago. I've lived on this coast since 1982 but hail from Horse Country, TN. In RL I not only run two websites, but am researching a compilation work for publication (I can disappear for days in my books!) I work with wildlife (naturally Cynthia Smoot is one of my fave journalists!) and I like to participate in the "wildlife" here on the Blogs - a little human interaction is a refreshing change on occasion. However, hiding behind a monitor does not give one license to be rude; personal attacks reveal their maker's own inadequacies and insecurities as a speaker. (Is that the best ya' got???) Thoughts and opinions may differ (thank God for choice as Americans!), but the more reasonable a differing opinion sounds, the more likely the listener is to consider it fairly. Be safe, be fair, be nice - and most importantly, don't run with scissors. They haven't invented downloadable bandaids yet.
